The last Dark Horse book I bought was the post Chewie death one. Artoo and Threepio travel around to record the recollections of many who knew or encountered the Wookiee. (Amazingly, Chewie's father from the HS is in this.) It was so damn depressing!

Aside from our heroes being devastated, Han is going mental and calling for Chewie. Leia is clearly unhappy with the burdens of government, and isn't with Han. Just about everybody else seems miserable too. What the heck?

Remember when Star Wars was fun?

This sounds infinitely better than anything in the PT.

The love triangle was played up very, very much in a lot of the popular press in the late 70's - the 'who would Leia end up with?' question was there in a lot of the magazines I saw back then and Lucasfilm didn't seem to do a whole lot to discourage this kind of speculation.

I think most of the "love triangle" comes from the poster of Leia wrapped around Luke's leg. There is nothing in the actual film that points towards Leia having any romantic interest in Luke. Also LFL didn't discourage any ideas about it cause George had no idea what he would end up doing. Thank god he went with the obvious chemistry between Han and Leia.

I expected a princess. I got a military commander. Didn't ring 100% right with me.

She was much more of a military leader than a princess. Especially when we get to Empire. Her planet has been destroyed, so she isn't even a princess anymore. The "Princess" thing was used heavily in ANH because she was claiming she had no ties to the rebellion- which of course was a lie. She grew up with the founders of the rebellion, so she's been a part of this her entire life. Also, giving orders hardly takes military experience. In that scene she is merely passing on information/orders.

Also, I've seen several posts about Luke and Leia's kiss in ESB and how it should be cut, or cut the revelation that she's his sister in ROTJ to avoid some kind of incestuous overtones. If anybody really thinks there was some kinda "love triangle" between Luke Leia and Han, then I doubt they've ever had much luck with the ladies. The moment Luke meets Leia it is clear that she has no romantic interest in him yet the moment she meets Han, the sparks fly- lot's of sarcasm and bickering (which is usually flirting) but it also leads to some off hand compliments ("you're braver than i thought."). I mean, sure, Luke was attracted to her and all, but there was never a moment where it seemed that they would end up together.

OK this is the last I'll do of this topic (you are all probably fed up with this) & as Angel has hinted at, perhaps Adywan has already addressed this scene (dunno??!!)

I didn't know if this would look good in motion, then I watched the clip you made and I really like it! And it fits in well with the devices used in the film- it's like a small version of the view screen Vader uses on his Stardestroyer. Not that the original hologram doesn't also fit in with Star Wars tech, but I would prefer this.

Ray: hmm. I can't remember if Luke actually says the planet's name anywhere else. How does he say it elsewhere?

ya know, I'm struggling to remember now... Seems he does at some point... maybe the radio drama? I know I've at least heard Mark Hamill say it..

I actually almost like that different people pronounce names differently: Tarkin says "Lee-ah" where Luke says "Lay-ah", Obi-Wan says "Tattoo-in" where Luke says "Tah-tooine", Lando says "Hehn" where Leia says "Hahn" and Han says "Hun". Similarly to people having different accents, it makes the thing more believable. If everyone speaks the same way it can sound too artificial.

Absolutely, but the problem is that Luke has never pronounced Tatooine that way up to that point and never pronounces it that way again. Like you said, he says "Tah-tooine" not "Tah-dooine" Maybe it's just my ears, but it sounds way different. different enough that I thought he must be reffering to a similarly named planet like Dantooine.

...However if you were referring to the way Lando says Han, then I've got no quarrel with you good sir or mam. That's fine like wine.

Hey Ady... have you considered changing the way Luke says "Tatooine" at the end of the movie?  Maybe it's just me, but as a kid, I never understood what he said until I finally turned the subtitles on one time.  It makes it sound like he says "Tah-roo-ine" because his a is long and his second "t" is so harsh.  I have no clue if this would even be possible.

This has irked me as well. To me it sounds like he says "Taadooine". Being a native, you'd think he could pronounce the name correctly, and indeed does at other times, which brings me to my fix suggestion- just cut and paste audio from another line.

But don't forget, this is just a movie.

Oh, absolutely. As I've said before, this has always kinda bugged me, but it's never stopped this from being my favorite film, and it won't now either. I'm not as hard up to have this removed as it may seem, and certainly not into changing this thing around in ways others have suggested. It was just  a quick suggestion that spawned a monster.

Don't mind me... I'll get me coat.

This is why I suggested cutting the explosion scene completely. It just doesn't add up. And all of the explanations take waay to much thought for such a quick scene. Having the walker fall over and then cutting to the rebel troops charging the battlefield is, in my opinion, the best option.

This would make no sense whatsoever. This is the rebels first little victory. They begin to think they can actually win this battle and then WHAM... they get their asses kicked. Take out the explosion and the scene falls flat.

But knocking the walker over is just as big a vicotry as blowing it up.  It can no longer continue to advance and it can no longer fire it's weapons. That alone would be reason enough for the rebels to think they could pull off a win. I know you aren't gonna remove it and that's perfectly fine by me,   but to say it would "make no sense whatsoever" is... well, wrong.

So I know that this has probably been mentioned before, but why is Ady taking away the red AT-AT windows?  I feel like they were meant to be red since they were depicted as such in the movie posters and paintings.

And, unlike the blue escape-pod door which was actually supposed to be blue in ANH, the red windows aren't very annoying.  They're actually kinda creepy.

I'm assuming that it's being taken away because it doesn't match the interior shots. When we see out from the inside, it's a clear window.

(Ady beat me to it)

That kind of doesn't make sense either.

How do they know that the neck is a weak point?

Until they shot at the things they have no idea that "that armour's too strong for blasters".

If they did know the neck was a weak point don't you think Luke would say, "Aim for the neck!"?

I'm sure the Empire wouldn't make it easy, but spinning a metal web, at speed around the legs of a mechanical dinosaur in motion belching laser bolts can't be easy either.

Almost every zombie film has someone telling the cast to aim for the head.

Every Doctor Who fan knows to aim for the eye stalk.

Every team of Ghostbusters has an "aim for the flat-top" guy.

Maybe the ground troops have been issued with a copy of Incredible Cross-Sections but the audience hasn't (the pilots certainly have not).

This is why I suggested cutting the explosion scene completely. It just doesn't add up. And all of the explanations take waay to much thought for such a quick scene. Having the walker fall over and then cutting to the rebel troops charging the battlefield is, in my opinion, the best option.

Dark Jedi's Star Wars Trilogy Cover (GOUT sourced)
Time

I love this.

The scene and props depicted in the painting aren't even in the film, yet that seems to imply that this is the original cut in the same way the early promotional posters, with all of their inconsistencies with the film, did.

It looks simple, clean and professional. It says: "This film doesn't need a loud cover full of craziness and floating photoshopped faces -it's a classic."

Info: ¤ RETURN OF THE JEDI ¤ Score Restoration - another OPTIMUM SET ?...
Time

Here's a question:

Anybody know where I could find the music Jabba's band are playing on the sail barge? Not the song sang in his palace, but the tune they are playing as the barge crosses the dessert. I've never seen this on a soundtrack- though I haven't listened to every release- and I'd love to have it.

Also, how about the version of Lapti Nek (or however it's spelled) that was actually used in the movie? The version I have has a different vocalist.

Sorry you replied while while I was edited my post.

Not quite, if you look closely and frame by frame they fire at the neck.

Well why didn't they say "Go for the neck! That works!" and start takin' the things down?

In any case, I think it would work better if they just stuck to the original plan of tripping them up and leave it at that. I mean, that stops them. It does exactly what they wanted it to do. And who are the rebel troops going after if they blow up the walkers which would destroy the imperial troops inside? "They destroyed one! C'mon guys, lets go get trampled to death or blown to pieces! CHARGE!!!"

Either way, it never has and never will ruin my favorite film of all time!

...and I can always cut it out myself why Ady releases it! ; )

For the same reason the Empire had to penetrate the rebel planetary shield with the at-ats in the first place instead of just bombing the base from orbit : a shield generator is meant to stop laser blasts and the like from reaching their target but they can't stop solid moving things, including humans, to go through them.

But, again, AtAt's have no shields. The wookipedia (god that sounds dumb) page says that the only vulnerable spot is the "neck" which is unprotected. Yet they fire at the "body" of the thing.
