STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

At the risk of being "that guy"...do we have an relatively updated tentative release date for ESB:R? I've plugged and pimped ANH:R to so many people that they are up my thermal exhaust port wondering when ESB:R is coming out. So just curious for myself and many others in the intersphere.

Edit: I should clarify - I'm not asking for a release date or even any hard info, just curious what the last tenatively, ballpark, estimated release time is (Early 2015, late 2014, etc...). You'd be surprised how hard it is to find the last mention of a release date, aside from this thread's title of course.

I personally think the whole "Everyone gather for a photo" ending (including Obi and Yoda), is a little more than campy and a very weak ending.

I truly think ROTJ should end with Vader's pyre; either a closeup of Luke's face or the behind-the-back distance shot. Cut to credits.

It's odd, the images of ROTJ's ending (hugs, ewoks, songs and ghosts) are so embedded in my brain as 'natural' but when I think about how campy and lame it is for such an epic series to conclude, I can't help but to hope an alternative ending scene is chosen.

Since we have the Pro-Fett and the Anti-Fett representetives, I'm going to be the Semi-Fett avatar:

Keep Fett only inside the actual Palace.

Jabba has a reputation for keeping bounty hunters and thugs around his palace, especially if they please him in some way. Fett could also be hanging out there because of a recent bounty etc.. etc... who knows, basically. But, we know Fett has some relations with Jabba so it's not uncharacteristic that he could be there. If perhaps, this was Fett walking around in say Docking Bay 94, then I'd say REMOVE HIM.

So, him appearing in the background of Jabba's palace a few times is cool. Him going on the sail barge, is not cool. He'd have no reason to do that.

I also think, while it's fun to picture what could have been or just brainstorming cool side-stories, we shouldn't be writing extra or different plotlines into the movie. That's not really what Revisiting is all about. It's not Revisioning.

Let's meet in the middle, Fett in palace: Good. Fett on barge: Bad.

Now (rambling ahead):

Personally, I love Fett and hate his death scene. Obviously, he was used in ROTJ because he could be an extra action figure in the ROTJ line and his costume is cool enough to use again.

So what do we gain by keeping him in the palace?

We see he isn't above hanging out with scum like Jabbas minions and Jabba himself, as well as associating with the elite of the Empire.

A thermal detonator does not scare Fett. He feels his life may be in danger and he's ready to fight for it, regardless. The same way he was ready to pop a cap in Chewbacca on Bespin.

His calm and observant reaction to the unfolding events (rancor etc..) is a great contrast to everyone else in Jabbas palace acting like a friday night at the Appollo.

And, if omitted from the barge scene, we can draw the silent conclusion while the rest of Jabbas barbarians were lining up to watch the prisoners be uneventfully fed to a hole in the ground, he decided it was a good time to hit the dusty trail.

I think all these things lend/benefit the character more than detract from it.

On the other hand, omitting him from ROTJ all together, serves and even bigger purpose to the mystique of the character, which is exactly what made him so popular in the first place. I see that as well.

Huge thread, apologies if this has been mentioned:

I just watched the 2 minute teaser and noticed the audio/dialogue seem to be higher pitched, almost like sped up. I doubt this was intentional and I assume it's just this particular export, but am I crazy or have others noticed it too?

Edit: While I'm here, what's the expected release date for ep5? I'm like anxiously awaiting it, as we all are.

Hey all, first time-long time!

This is a huge thread and I've read through most of it, apologies if this has been posted. If so, I guess I'm just here reinforcing the idea. Anyway, my suggestion for ROTJ ending:

I was never 'happy' with the ending in general. The celebratory Ewok thing. Specifically, I'm talking about the close-up sequence in the village itself. The hugging and kissing and that drrrreadful group shot at the end to wrap it up. I do however, like the panoramic shots of Ewoks celebrating outside the village and things like the fireworks and X-Wings flying overhead.

So, my ideal ending would consist of exterior shots of the village celebration to get the feel for "hooray, we won" and THEN cut to the scene of Luke igniting of Vader's funeral pyre. Then, the closeup of Luke while he watches the pyre. Then the distant shot of luke watching the pyre, from the back. Then cut to credits. This seems to end on a down-note in a way, but if you use the music that is currently used before the cut to credits, I think it could bring the mood up a bit. But this isn't even necessary.

I feel like this arrangement is much more dramatic. Much more theatrical. Much more conclusive and way less Disney spirited.

Other smaller changes I'd like to see in ROTJ:

Jabba's Palace

-When we see Lando for the first time and he pulls his mask down to reveal to the children, "Don't worry, kids! It's just me, Billy D" that whole shot is useless. The shot should end right before he pulls his mask down. Him pulling his mask down makes no sense whatsoever.

-When Leia is caught freeing Han, a curtain is pulled back to reveal Jabba and friends 'ambushing' our heroes. The lighting in Jabba's alcove seems a bit too bright and makes the puppets/people look a little Muppety and less menacing. This might be a nice sublte change to keep the overall sinister tone of this scence.

-Some of Han's dialogue in this movie is...mediocre at best. When 3PO is telling them the details of the Sarlacc, I'd suggest removing the funny quips. These remarks seem a little out of place and too campy/corny. I've never liked them. I'd just replace the shots of him talking with shots of him not talking or shots of 3PO or even shots of other creatures in the Palace (this being the best option). Aside from me purely disliking the dialogue, I think a guy who is disoriented as much as Han is and suffering from a sickness and being sentenced to death wouldn't be squeezing in comedic zingers every chance he got. Plus, in the other two movies, he was never this sassy. He can still keep his sass when he tells off Jabba from the barge.

Jabba's Barge

-When Luke is awaiting the delivery of his lightsaber, he seems to stand there with his hand extended for a second or two longer than he would be allotted by a ship full of thugs. maybe cuta few frames out of this shot so that he jumps, lands and gets the saber in a tighter motion. (Also, a similar suggestion for the scene when Luke's robotic hand gets shot; the shot of his hand is there for a few seconds too long before getting shot. Essentially slowing the action down. Removing a few frames before his hand get's shot will make this flow much better).

Death Star

-The exterior shot of the Emperor's throne tower has a shot of a couple TIE fighters swooping by; when the scenece cuts to the interior, it would be great to see the fighters fly by outside the window, in the distance.

-When Luke is hiding from vader during their battle, and Vader is reading his feelings/thoughts, I wouldn't mind hearing a little Obi-Wan voiceover (bury your feelings...etc). This may not work as good as I'm picturing it, but it might be cool. Like when Luke closes his eyes he "hears" these words again, and then he opens his eyes. This actually fits in the scene decently, time-wise.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm omitting the obvious smaller things (better sabers, more action, less Ewok etc...)

I can't tell you how much I look forward to EP 5 and 6. EP4: Revisit changed my life!
