Did anybody else have trouble viewing the preview clip? I tried opening it but VLC freezes on one of the first few frames and then doesn’t play the rest. But anyway, that one frame I could see looks great!

Yeah, I have the same problem. Maybe it’s the HEVC codec? And I must agree, the single frame looked really awesome 😉

Perhaps you are missing a codec? I used Handbrake to encode it, but you might find that the latest Divx codecs / player would work.

It could also be your Hardware. Even on my twin Xeon and Core I7 PCs it doesn’t always play smoothly. 4K is a lot of data!

I tested it again, but this time with MPC, and voila, no problems at all. Shame on you VLC 😉 Again, it looks very promising and beautiful.

Duck, You Sucker! (1971) - Original Mono Repair. (Released)
Time

Hi all,

I think, with the help of the 2003 German DVD, which has the english audio in lossy AC3 (no censoring, right musical cues, but without the last flashback), I have mananged to fix nearly all of the aforementioned problems.

I used it vor the entirity of the movie, except some part of the last flashback scene and John's death. So no more clicking or distortions in there. To fill the last part of the flashback I used SkySnakes fixed english track from the Italian 01 Blu ray, which he presented at the beginning of this thread.

Because the DVD is PAL, I demuxed the video of the Italion Blu ray to 25 fps, to match the speed of the english track (no pitch change, it was correct before). I didn't want to convert the english DVD audio to 24 fps (the Italian Blu runs with 24 fps, not 23,976 fps, don't know why), because I heard some distortions (very few) after that process, regardless what tools I used. Of course Skysnakes audio was sped up to 25 fps also.

I synched the pal audio with the help of Skysnakes audio. It fitted right well without much sycnhing, I only had to fix some frames here and there.I watched the entire movie yesterday and I saw no problems. There are two or three small errors in the PAL audio, which where there from the beginnung (an echo or a repetition for example). But for now I left it as it was.

So, if you want to give it a try, I can send you a link to test it yourself, if you are willing to use 25 fps. The audio file itself is presented in 2.0 DTS Mono 768 kbps, but only 16 bit, because of the lossy AC3 track, which was also only in 16 bit, of course.

I'm hoping, I don't offend anyone with that offer, especially SkySnake, but I really wanted to make it work :) And sorry for the english^^

Duck, You Sucker (1971) - Fixing the mono mix (V1.5 Finished) (Released)
Time

The problem with this particular LD is that it's cut in the last flashback scene, I think. So there is definitely some audio missing then.

@nirbateman

I really love what you did to the mono mix so far :) Problem is, and it has nothing to do with your work, is the source audio itself. These milliseconds of silence, which are throughout the whole movie, really hurt the soundtrack, especially when music is playing. It really stutters and drags along most of the time.

But I think that's a small price to pay at the moment before a better, maybe even uncompressed source, can be used.

But thanks to your work, it is still a much, much better experience now :)

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Yes, sir. I think this Despecialized Edition is going to work out fine. I, uh, was also thinking about our agreement about preserving the original mix forever. And if this Despecialized Edition does work out, I want it to replace the original camera negative this year.

Ok, in regards to the real world, I decided it would be less confusing if fans (including myself) only need to download the Despecialized Edition and not bother with all those confusing .srts (they confused me). So, I decided to convert the MKV file into an AVI file. I then uploaded it on YouTube.com, but Fox almost immediately blocked it on copyright grounds. Then, I uploaded it on archive.org.

So you can watch the Despecialized Edition at:           * DELETED*

For some reason, I can't stream the video (as of this writing). But fans can still download it. No need to download all the confusing stuff (well, to me, it was confusing) that I mentioned above.

Um, what's wrong with you?
