like everyone i'm in awe of the scope of this edit, i've had the same wow moments as everyone else.
i could type nearly endless congrats on almost every tweak.
instead i'm gonna point out the only bit of constructive i have that no one else has mentioned.
at 00:36:58 the tie on the right seems to have been skewed more than rotated.
even with every other constructive criticism that's a pretty short list of possible changes for the dvd versions.

looking forward to seeing the "official" cover
and i hope one day we'll hear what GL thinks of this

if he offered you the tools and money to re-do this in hi-def, would you?
i wouldn't blame you for not answering that one

ady this is awesome, just watched the 1st 10 mins

for all you usenet noobs, you can start watching before download completes by
checking box "keep broken files" in winrar (only available when you use "extract to" function)
fast forwarding etc. is not real smooth until file is complete
hope this helps those of you who can't bare to wait any longer

i like the little shop of horrors sarlaac, but i would be impressed if anyone could work out how to make boba's death (or not depending on your fannon) better.

as for the shield generator dish explosion - the dish was a long way off, they planted charges at one end of the power core tunnel and the explosion snowballed as it travelled to the dish (just how i see it mind you, i have no data to back this up)

i'm pretty sure the reason a short burst of lightning killed vader is because it destroyed his breathing equipment

there have been some great muppet moments over the years but they DO NOT belong in star wars, any de-muppeting is probably the most important change needed to rotj

i go for "usenetserver" as the downloads are unlimited
if you're not bothered by that "easynews" is better for browsing and couple of quid cheaper and actually a bit faster
both can self generate nzb's

During the celebration sequence on Coruscant, for the 2004 DVD editions Lucas added the old Senate building and the Jedi Temple in the background. These weren't present for the 1997 Special Editions. This change seems entirely illogical to me. If I were an evil Sith Master, like Palpatine, I'd burn these buildings to the ground and not let them remain standing. The Senate was disbanded in ANH and the Jedi Temple should have been destroyed in ROTS?

it does mess with eu as well - i know movies trump novels/comics but i see no harm in fixing continuity if it makes sense anyway

No Leia at the pyre

I think it shows the end of Luke's personal journey nicely
and would detract from the ghosts scene where Leia comes to pull Luke back into group

My personal choices for improvements off the top of my head are

Smooth out the stop motion animation on Tauntauns and to a lesser extent AT-AT's & AT-ST's

Could something be done to make Boba Fett's following Han from the Star Destroyer's garbage a bit more realistic, it's hard to buy that Han wouldn't notice a tail that close. maybe Slave I could shoot a homing beacon onto the Falcon's hull and than follow at a reasonable distance.

The Emporer's holo conversation needs re-working to remove any confirmation that Luke is Vader's son - Just for the sake of watching them in released order

Vader's leaving Cloud City - all bad - doesn't sound like JE Jones (although I'm sure I read it is)

Fett's flirting in Jabba's Palace has to go - although I prefer the new musical number

Jawa's eyes to match ANH

Change Ewoks to Wookies - Pipe dream I know but improvements must be made please

All creaures throughout both ESB & ROTJ need Adywan's Cantina treatment

A couple of badly delivered lines "Our first catch of the day" escape from Hoth
and Jedi's Death Star battle"Copy Gold Leader" when Lando order's split and head back to the surface make me cringe
just a timing trim may fix these

darth chronus read back through the thread m8 and you'll see ady is in the uk himself
plus there are some interesting points of view that can make you look at some scenes in a new way
you'll also learn that this is a labour of love - ady is asking nothing in return for this amazing project
i expect torrents will be the most common download source for the majority

i have a feeling that once finished and out there this will become THE only version of ANH fans will want to watch
it will spread from those who have been following the progress for many months to the masses that have no idea this is going on
ady will become a legend of the star wars universe of such proportions GL will have to take notice and release it as the new official definitive version

boom! ady gets a job working for LFL with nice medical cover and can bypass the NHS and gets paid properly to "revisit" the other 5 movies

now that's what i'd like to see happen

back to the present - ady which line are you using for the stormtrooper knocking on the door in mos eisley "it's secure" or "the door is locked"?
i always preferred it's secure myself

this shit just keeps gettin' better

just watched the ben's death/faclon vs ties sequence
new exterior shots and upgrades to targeting are awesome

one change that would perfect this shot for me is correcting the following
1:30:48 as han takes out the final tie it's flying right at him from what seems like a long distance
his shots are only just missing - he swings his gun from one extreme to the other (which looks really cool) just to make a slight adjustment to the target
it would be great if the tie rolled toward the left of the screen before han's swing and exploded at an angle that made more sense

picky i know but what the hell - you've corrected stuff for a lot less (no bad thing mind)

there's also a similar shot with luke at 1:30:40 but this is far less anoying as the battle is more confusing at that point
