It’s a shame that even one prequel is going to be shown to those poor students, and I agree about the Rifftrax. I guess they are Satanic. Afterall, the stupid title crawl does state that “Evil is everywhere.” Although, in actuality, it was really only in one place, but whatever, it’s GL we’re talking about.

The prequels were abysmal, but their story was ambitious. I’ll be cleansing the palate with Return of the Jedi later, so don’t worry. Besides, Revenge of the Sith is incredibly Miltonic, so I have to teach it in a class on Milton and Star Wars.

EDIT: The special editions disappoint me more than the prequels ever could, because they worsened those films, especially ANH and ROTJ.

I just don’t believe “higher learning” and “prequel” should be in the same train of thought, but to each their own.

You can learn from unsuccessful art, too.

Sorry, Lucas–I don’t teach your special editions (but I am including Revenge of the Sith this semester, cuz Milton).

Milton the toast making robot?

Haha!

The reason I’m showing Revenge of the Sith alongside Paradise Lost is Lucas and Milton’s shared aversion to monarchy and their treatment of republicanism (the political theory, not the American political party, of course).

And, of course, Padme/Anakin are Adam/Eve type characters, and Anakin/Palpatine/Jabba are all Satanic characters.

Can’t wait! I’m planning on showing Return of the Jedi to my Star Wars college class in a few weeks, and I’m hoping to use this new version.

You have a Star Wars class? What’s your major?

I’m the professor. 😉 I teach in English. It’s a class on Star Wars and medieval/Renaissance literature, history, and religion. Jabba’s resemblance to an Ottoman sultan, stuff like that.

Jabba has two arms as the subtitle “At last we have the mighty Chewbacca” appears, and this continues for a while.

To add to that

REPORT-ROTJ-v2.0-WP
00:14:30.11
Frame 20891 and 20892 show that the subtitle didn’t fade out properly.

By two arms, of course, I mean he has three arms (two on the side closest to his food bowl).

Can someone please pm me the link? I haven’t gotten the email, even though I signed up for it.

PS> I’m a college professor who uses these versions in the classroom for educational purposes. I just want to say–thank you so much, Harmy, for helping me to teach these films the way they should be taught.
