i even wonder if someone should aknowledge the broken saber itself, maybe Kylo.
And all other scenes after that between them have important dialog that can’t really be interrupted.
Well, at least in the Rey Nobody version, the force-skype fight when Rey is on Kylo’s white room and Kylo is on Kijimi seens to be the place to fit something like that.
Kylo is again just tempting Rey to give into her anger, talking about how he wants her to know her full story, and Rey is falling for it, i think the dialogue here can be revised a bit to acknowledge the crackly saber and/or her place as Skywalker.
I agree with HAL about the saber breaking, its not only a reminder to the audience, but it brings a bit more importance to the broken saber itself, and (for me) adds a layer of simbology to it, in the image of this family’s broken legacy and now this misterious girl trying to fix it only to get it into an unstable state, as if she’s not worth of it.
i even wonder if someone should aknowledge the broken saber itself, maybe Kylo.
I’m sensing a pattern with me spending a lot of energy on blink and you’ll miss it shots.
If I need to make edits I can but here is the high res clip for now.

I think this shot could be greatly improved if it stays in the book for half second to a second more, to avoid the blink and miss
Also, having Leia explicitly address Rey as family more strongly justifies her taking the name Skywalker, which didn’t really seem to land with everyone in theaters.
I agree, the new line helps the ending scene to feel a bit more deserved, weirdly enough
Also, I do believe we can get Palpatine to say whatever we want now. Was there anything in particular that somebody brought up a while ago?
We can make Palpatine say anything now?
What about stream-lining the whole plan? Instead of sayin’ Kylo to “kill the girl”, he asks Kylo to bring Rey to him (later when Kylo says that Palpatine wants Rey dead can be read as a manipulation so she gets on his side).
I think it would work better for the movie if Palps already knew about the whole dyad thing, like the plan was to get Kylo and Rey together so he can suck them dry and come back to life. Maybe plan b was what he was trying to do with Rey, make her kill him etc.
About the “I made Snoke”, I always thought about how to abstract the “made” a little bit more. Maybe we could try a new line like “I made Snoke. As I made Vader. As I made you”
Also maybe review Rey and Palpatine dialogue at the end?
Talking about that, what about giving the man some new lines so his last words won’t be “hmmph”? Could even be after his body vanishes, Rey could hear “i’ll always be with you” or something.
I think everything sith-related in this movie works best with this mystery aura, kind like a good horror flick with the dark side being this lovecraftesque entity impossible to fully comprehend.
Hell I even believe the movie could win a bit more value if it could be explored in v3 or beyond. Exegol is the spooky house of the spooky dudes who the Jedi are fighting since 77’, the bizarre and the macabre, even some unanswered stuff could help paint this bigger picture. But that’s just me and it’s too much work to get anywhere, maybe one day I do an edit of my own.
Hey, another thing, maybe I’m misremembering, but someone said something about using AI to give Lando and/or Maz an exchange about the Skywalker saber to fix the plot hole of “a good question for another time”, it is possible after all?
RE: “I’m a Jedi”
Here is my favorite generation so far: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VwbuOq7HUv0bT0Ggroa0d-tJfkekNjZD/view?usp=sharing
And here are a bunch of alts:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FTyJAq4rLyfzAy8TX0BOqX4HgLMV8y8E/view?usp=sharingEDIT: Ultimately, comparing it to what we currently have, there’s no way an AI line could ever be as “breathy” as the current iteration. Rey is out of breath and exhausted while saying it, none of these seem to convey that.
perhaps if you separate the “i am” and “a jedi” and make some variations with some prompts it could be better put together via edit
omg hal
i wonder how that will reverberate in the ascendant thread in a couple years…
Hal, did you used this?

there’s also another point regarding kylo that i would like to add to discussion, now that we have our own artificial Adam Driver, maybe we can get a new line about his view of vader after discovering that palpatine is behind it all.
in Colin Trevorrow’s Duel of the Fates script, there’s a scene (after kylo found palpatine’s holocron inn vader’s lair) where kylo is talking to the mask and he says something in the likes of “now i understand you, you’re weak and you let love blind you, i won’t make the same mistake”, maybe we could do something with it? At least a little somethinng like “you’re never really here, but i don’t need you anymore” during the vision scene, just to close this plot point that’s completely forgotten about in this movie.
i don’t think an explanation is necessary, but i think there’s something that could add value to the saber, it’s a direct visual parallel, maybe kylo could see the cracked and unstable skywalker blade in his vision with vader’s helmet, and it all spins in the same direction, cracked sabers, cracked helmet, pull to darkness, pull to light.
it could be something in the likes of:
Rey: I see through the cracks in your mask. You can’t stop seeing what you did to your father.
Kylo: I saw you tried to repair my family’s saber. But there are cracks that can’t be restored.
EDIT: also, the skywalker saber is an important plot point in the previous movies, i highly doubt that anyone, specially kylo, wouldn’t have anything to say about the legendary skywalker saber being cracked and unstable just like his
That’s not a bad idea, Donkey…
I’m not sure what would be best for it. When Leia hands it to her at the start?
i think perhaps kylo should be the one to acknowledge this, something like “Oh you’re a jedi now? then why your saber looks EVIL???”
what do you guys think to generate a new line regarding the repaired and unstable saber? it’s something special from this edit that is never acknowledged in the movie, but now someone, maybe leia, rey or kylo could talk about and give it more context, something related to rey herself being unstable and closer to the dark in a parallel of kylo’s saber.
Here ya are: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oqWbImOKe9Yyxdq8uPlEVyuEDrY4iehJ/view?usp=sharing
EDIT: Here are a couple alternatives - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oxGCYCnYp1SpBBALFKd7zcOu9FOh3vyf/view?usp=sharing and https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pUB39eRidmC8RhKI6GMOBxXtfOiY7BFL/view?usp=sharing
have you tried using “scared” as prompt? perhaps could be something
It sounds perfect to me: https://streamable.com/1v7nuf
perhaps if rey’s reaction shot can be enlongated a bit (via frame interpolation or smth) the little moment of silence can improve the natural flow of the line
this all is insane guys
is it possible to create new lines for Palpatine? this could easily fix a lot of plot holes about his plan or his presence overall in the movie
Portuguese:
Well… yeah, to me the episode was ok. It was just ok to me, cool to see the rancor, cool to see some action, but at the end it was just ok, no better than the average Star Wars. Kind of ruined the finale of Mando season 2, i expected to see Din w/o Grogu for a bit and i hoped to see his decision only in season 3.
At the end i wonder why this whole series was important to begin with, looks like they added the Grogu/Din story to make it feel more important than what actually is for the big picture they’re building and sacrificed quality to make everything fit instead of just making a really good story and turn that characters that we already know into characters that we care and believe. But yeah, it was cool sometimes…
Now i’ll patiently continue to wait for the Kenobi series (i’m already thinking it will not be so good as i want it to be).
(I still can’t believe they just introduced Cad Bane in live action and killed him an episode later)
This one looks amazing too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYB0GJ2Lnmw
thank you so much for this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHu5uYXYLFs just watched this
well, it’s not a boba fett series anymore i guess, just our weekly Star Wars adventure, but i don’t a f*, i just want my Star Wars to be fun and cool at this point, if I get a good story with meaning that makes me think it’s a bonus.
BUT HEY IT’S CAD BANE!!! DO YOU REMEMBER HIM FROM THE CLONE WARS??
(also, i want to talk about how the de-aged Luke was impressive to me in this episode, Shamook was a fine addition to ILM collection, we’re almost at a point that doesn’t matter if the actor is dead or old, and that’s super scary and bizarre, but also kind of cool tbh)
Now that was a really great episode of The Mandalorian. And I suppose that’s my only criticism as well.
exactly
this discussion is giving me flashbacks
is this coming on the V3??
