What song lyrics inspire you to look forward to seeing the sun every day life allows you to?

Some of the songs are very period specific but I guess you could do a twist on Michael Caine where it’s about an Islamist informant called Omar Sheriff. The videos are very cheery though. I defy anyone not to smile during Wings of a Dove, Our House or Baggy Trousers.

Really comes across how much fun they were having, messing around in the videos, young lads lucky enough to ‘make it’ ins a pretty shite era looking back - though a great time for music growing up in the UK and having the likes of Madness, The Specials, The Beat, Jam, The Cure, Echo & Bunnymen, Thomson Twins, Yazoo, Undertones, UB40, Morrissey, Housemartins, Depeche Mode, New Order, Howard Jones et al 😃

Time to turn off the tv and internet and put the hifi on 😉

One of my favorite bands, and the video for True Faith is one of my favorite videos.

New York City - They Might Be Giants

The Galaxie 500 cover is worth a listen to - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD5l30Rhs60

Love They Might Be Giants - looks a really great band to go see live too, saw their AV Club video of covering Chumbawumba’s Tubthumping recently 😃

What song lyrics inspire you to look forward to seeing the sun every day life allows you to?
Time

This is why events unnerve me
They find it all, a different story
Notice whom for wheels are turning
Turn again and turn towards this time
All she asks is the strength to hold me
Then again the same old story
World will travel, oh so quickly
Travel first and lean towards this time

Oh, I’ll break them down, no mercy shown
Heaven knows, it’s got to be this time
Watching her, these things she said
The times she cried
Too frail to wake this time

Oh I’ll break them down, no mercy shown
Heaven knows, it’s got to be this time
Avenues all lined with trees
Picture me and then you start watching
Watching forever
Forever
Watching love grow, forever
Letting me know, forever

It’s powerful lyric - with even more energy in the tune - and whether you believe it’s about life, love, death, a funeral, a wedding, an affair, togetherness, or something else, it stays in my mind as a beautiful reminder that we often see the world differently…

Ceremony, by New Order - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWPIotDeNLs

.
.
.

also this isn’t too bad (a bit of a cliche), but

There are places I’ll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more
In my life-- I love you more

In My Life by Lennon/McCartney

Not a great fan of the tune, but the lyrics sums up (for me) how important it is for many people to look back with happiness, fondness good feelings or just a smile - and start the day afresh to create some more (I’ll stop with the hippiness now 😉)

Does anyone have a nice vintage looking cover for the whole Despecialized trilogy to go in one single 3 disc blu ray case?

In FrankT’s thread further down in this section (plus a lot of other good 3-disc OT boxsets in various designer threads) there is this:-

Arrow “White Box” Blu-rays - Reversible sleeve

A box for the entire trilogy. Available here with options for extras from ronwlim. A reissue is anticipated with options for phildesfr’s BD-ISOs.

as well as Harmy’s own:-

Confirmed for droid lurking among us

Well, the General SW thread does seem under attack right now - probably from the right-wing Nazi-loving sex-bot from Microsoft on the rampage again, though it could just be some Trump fans 😉

A wiser man than many once said (before being later played by Jai Courtney) “Listen, and understand. That thing is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead (in the brain, soul and spirit)”.

Bleep bloops aside, hasn’t it already been determined that the end credits have been extended by a couple minutes for the home release?

Several minutes? How and why would that have happened?

It’s been talked about in the TFA Official Review thread in the General Discussions thread, here mate -

Just a thought: is it the first time that a digital release (dvd, bluray, etc.) of a SW movie (I don’t count Clone Wars) is going to be the true theatrical version ? No line modified ? No sfx changed ? No wipe redone ? Nothing, no alterations, even minor ones ? This is history !

There aren’t any alterations of the kind you mention, but the end credits are apparently longer by about 3 minutes, compared to the theatrical version. The movie is now 138 minutes long.

There is a sound that seems to come from BB-8 in the scene Ryan-SWI noted (from a different cam version). To me it sounds like a squeak from BB-8, or possibly a mistake with the sound of a TIE Fighter blaster shot that occurs a second or two later? - but there is definitely a noise there that’s not present in the other cam version and early bluray rip from last week.

Should be interesting when we all get our hands on the official release bluray/dvd/digital downloads…

I can’t hear any beep noises from BB-8 in the scene you describe mate - on the cam version or the bluray (31m, 48s). That’s not to say they are not there - but just I can’t hear any…

BB-8 does however makes beep noises in the scene you describe on the official teaser trailer, here:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erLk59H86ww (about 28 seconds in)

It’s definitely there. I’m not going to go ahead and post clips before the official release of the film, but I’ll make a short clip a week from now comparing the two.

Cool - the only thing I’m hearing in the scene where BB-8 rolls up to the Falcon is the sound of the TIE-Fighter flying overhead and then an impact blast sound, along with the orchestra chase tune throughout the scene.

There could well be some audio differences - I’m off to book in an ear test 😉
