Greetings,
I have downloaded Harmy’s masterful work but I am still seeking the njvc versions with the extra commentaries, menus, etc. I am ready to re-seed!

Check out this thread for invites:

OT member Custom Box Set project thread
Time

Greetings everyone. With all of the fresh blood lurking in the dark corners of the forum these days, I thought that maybe a thread dedicated to member created Box sets would be helpful. So if you have created a box set for the Despecialized films or Fan Edits, post pictures and descriptions of the materials/processes used herein…

And by all means, please repost your creation even if it can be found elsewhere on the boards.

However, please try to refrain from bashing someone’s efforts and let’s show a bit of luv to our fellow OT dudes and dudettes.

With pics to follow, here is the run-down for the box sets I created:

Films with Menus and extras: created by njvc, using Harmy’s Despecialized
The boxes: Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Extended Edition boxes, recovered with Star Wars art.
Cases: Clear 3 disc Criterion cases from Casetopia.com
Discs: Plex Disc Liquid Defense 25GB printable Blu ray discs
Printer: Canon Pixma with direct cd/dvd printing
Burner: Pioneer burner sold under the TDK brand name
Computer: Ancient Windows 7 laptop
Art contributors: Video Collector, Ron Lim, FrankT, phildesfr
Paper for the printables was HP 160 ink jet
Lastly and certainly not least, a very understanding spouse who indulged my delusions of grandeur…

Speaking for myself here, but making the discs and crafting the box set, etc was half of the fun of the whole thing. The other 75% of course was being able to watch the unadulterated versions of the greatest movie trilogy ever made. If I only wanted to buy some copies, I could have just stuck with the store bought stuff and called it a day. This entire site is a labor of love and to treat the projects and people here flippantly or in a rude manner is going to create the exact opposite reaction you desire: no one will want to help you.

My free and unsolicited advice is to download the links, watch and enjoy them. Burn them to discs later when you have the time and equipment.

Gotcha. Awesome work. I used an extra Hobbit collection box that I had because the Criterion cases I wanted to use for the set are larger than regular cases. Do you have a brand name on the black ‘wax paper’? I might want to buy some if I decide to redo my current boxed set. Also, can I get a download link for the poster you created? I need one last piece for my set and I think your poster will work perfectly.

So I found out my step dad would like the Star Wars movies for Christmas, and I remembered reading about the Despecialized editions. That soon brought me to this topic. These would be the perfect gift for him, but how do I get them?

Buy (him) the blu-ray and obtain a MySpleen invite.

Well the first part is easy enough. Not sure where to get the invite from.

check your pm’s

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in order to obtain the preservation effort ‘Despecialized’ versions, you have to own the official releases. Otherwise the entire project could be jeopardized. Grab the official Blu rays and then I am sure an invite will not be a problem. Cheers.

Hi, I have been a fan of the Star Wars films ever since I saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977. I have copies in VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray. I have the 2011 and 2015 versions, including the steelbook versions.

I have downloaded the MKV versions of Harmy’s and Towne32’s Despeciallized versions already, but would love to have njvc’s versions on blu-ray as well. The work that Harmy, njvc, Dark Jedi, towne32, hairy hen and others has been spectacular.

An invite to spleen would be most appreciated. I’ll still around to seed the good works on spleen. Thank you, all.

Now this is an example of a fan who deserves to have an invite. PM’d.

I just love it when a plan comes together…
