In the issue of Empire Magazine with Vader on the cover, on pg 77 is the following quote:

"We love then all," says Rick McCallum when quizzed about the plethora of Star Wars parodies out there. "Spaced is great, I really liked the French and Saunders send-up. I even loved the re-edited version of Episode I - even when someone hates something so much, when they spend so much time and effort hating it, you've got to give them a hand"

The listings are now under the banner of the "Flimsiplast Database".

An example of a typical Entry (1975 Casting Auditions) is there to check out.
If there are any categories worth adding to a typical entry, please suggest.

If someone's got PHP and SQL knowledge please contact me, i'd like to learn.

Just an idea I thought of a coordinated effort to inform SW forum members of the OOT preservation efforts
Time
There are people in the forums of the Official site which are worth contacting: for instance:
http://forums.starwars.com/thread.jspa?threadID=221776&tstart=125
Contacting these kind of people who have an initial interest, might be worthwhile, but just putting out a blanket statement is just inviting the end, imo. One mention of Fan Preservation and there's a certain mindset which will yell copyright infringement until they're Twilek blue.

(as for the individual in the previously mentioned post, i've been unsuccessful in contacting them. I've posted in the thread, and i did find the same name registered in tfn's JC forums. but i haven't heard anything back. So if someone can come up with a way to ask this person what they've got and attempt to get them over here, it would be much appreciated. 20 VHS tapes, that's alot of interesting stuff, at least to me)

I've started adding titles, please suggest titles either in thread or through pm.

At the bottom i've added a "To Be Determined" category. These are titles which i've come across which i've either never seen or just don't know anything about (Star Wars City?!!!), so feel free to comment if any of these titles should be on the list or taken off.

The list premise, i've melded into anything significant which could help someone understand the thought process which went into making the SW Trilogy. So i've added the different versions of the original scripts, and well this could lead to more off topic ideas... so i stopped there.

there's a big gap between 85 and 95, something must have happened.

I don't have a picture of everything, but here's my 2009 Holloween costume:

and thee 2009 Holloween costume back:

Notice the detailed work which went into crossing out all the figures i collected, not just once in ball point, but a second time in magic marker. Also notice how friggin cool the picture of the rocket firing boba fett was, so i tried to move it to my favorite school book brown paper cover.

Version3, I switched to stylesheets (CSS) for some of the formatting things, it should be much tighter this go around. Eventually ever show title will be a link, once i begin to layout the individual entry information page. I would like to add a brief table of contents/explanation. for instance dates are listed Year.Month.Day that needs to be explained. but this seems to be the bare structure. If anyone can write an explanation/definition of "Documentary" that can be used to weed out/in titles, it would be much appreciated.

oh yeah if someone could take a screen capture and pm it to me, i'm curious how this is looking on other systems.

Info: Quantity vs Quality Discussion on OT preservation projects
Time
I voted Quantity, just for the fact that of the Fan Preservation projects i've encountered which do pack in the material onto one disc, it's because the original source was subpar. (VHS-EP) Since there was no original source of current home system quality, why not provide more material at a lesser quality. But if your goal is to Preserve, in the best means feasible, then sure Quality. But I'd rather have the program (even in 120x90) then not have the program. Anything pre-PT, we're lucky to have individuals like yourself who had Beta's, I personally didn't have a VCR until the 90s, i missed the chance to preserve the OT stuff, so getting the chance to see any program in whatever quality is the best I could hope for.

Help Wanted: Project To Collect All Star Wars Documentaries
Time

Thanks for the feedback DarthAstuart, I began a revision:
http://noneinc.com/Archive/StarWarsMedia/SWMediaListVer2.html
((((Updated here: http://noneinc.com/Archive/FlimsiplastDatabase/))))
It's greatly simplified, and is in chonological order. (year/month/day) At the moment i'm envisioning that this page will list everything, very simple and straight forward, then the "Info" category will link to another document which will contain show specifics. Everything from basic information (who, what, when, description, imdb link, synopsis, various searches, etc.) to the different forms it's been preserved in. (check out vcdquality.com for their individual entry pages, i'm going to copy from them to start)

As for the basic listing page, i'm slowly getting away from the color key (maybe ver3 will remove it) but i would like to maintain someway to differentiate between cannon, official, semi-official and fan activities. Is it enough that fan preservation versions would only be mentioned in the individual Entry pages? (i think this is what you we're alluding too) So most likely the Type category will disappear. Spacewise there's room on this main page for other info, which would be important enough to show up here?

I don't think there will be so many releases that splitting them up by year into different pages would be necessary, i've left a bar (which has a link to, so if your at the top of the page you can quickly click to a year later in the document) for each of the major years. Most likely for each movie release year.

One way to have it so that the complete listing can be viewed on the same page with the individual entries would be to use frames:
http://noneinc.com/Archive/StarWarsMedia/SWMediaMain.html
((((Updated here: http://noneinc.com/Archive/FlimsiplastDatabase/))))
That will give you some sense of how that might work. thus each entry would have a link which would end up in the Entry Section below.

At the time being, just getting a list is all i'm going to focus on. If i have to start worrying about tracking down copies nothing will get done and it will bog down the thread. as you'll find on this site, there is an active trading network in play. time will flush out odd material.

As for help, at the moment just provide feedback on the set up. Feel free to do a save as and muck around with what's been done. Once everyone's satisfied with the bones, then we can all type type type all the information in.

Having filtering capabilities, means having a database system. (PHP? is that the correct terminology?) I personally don't know it, but would be happy to learn it, need some guidance, i don't know where to start. It would be great if a database could be set up, and anyone could add information, like how wikipedia works...

...could we use wikipedia? Anyone have any experience with their system?
Here's their 'Star Wars' entry:

The Indiana Jones Project (Released)
Time
via: http://members.kingston.net/chloe/Mup/MB_guide.html

Episode 4: Raiders of the Lost Muppet - The babies must search the house after Animal gets lost playing hide and seek.
SONG: "Best Friends" which Rowlf, Gonzo, Skeeter and Scooter sing while they search a jungle Tarzan style, for Animal
ALSO: An Indiana Jones parody occurs when Kermit,Fozzie and Piggy find themselves in the "Basement of Doom". The parody would return in several different episodes.
[Available in Remisser's Christmas Gift, 190mb avi]

also

Episode 92: Muppet Babies - The Next Generation - A huge science fiction crossover
SONG: "The Future Is Counting On You"
ALSO: Ready for this? Okay we've got parodies of Star Wars, The Jetsons, Star Trek, Star Trek: the Next Generation (pre-DS9 days unfortunatly, darn!), Indiana Jones and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure all wrapped into one episode! The kids play several roles each ( Kermit for example plays George Jetson, Captain Kirk, Luke Skywalker and, of course, Indiana Jones)but don't worry, we're not the only ones who get confused)

Mad TV Sketch
Time
Thanks Rebel11_38, it's ok, i'm not much for the humor of the last night programs, but it's fascinating to see what bothers people. (why is George so animated?...) This will most likely show up on Comedy Central reruns before the normal slot, since it was most likely made just after TPM. This reminds me of the Connie Chung incident.

ok here's a pass at a list:

%20's SW Media List
http://noneinc.com/Archive/StarWarsMedia/SWMediaList.html

((((Updated here: http://noneinc.com/Archive/FlimsiplastDatabase/))))

At this point, besides giving other titles, please critic the layout and category choices. I differ from most of you, in that this list is something which i would hope would include everything SW related. [And then those listings/database could be searchable for documentaries. But that requires database/web/skillz. (anyone got any?)]

Anyway, the list is divided as follows:
1. The Movies (SW:ANH, SW:IV, SW:V, SW:IV, SW:I, SW:II, SW:III)
___A. In each of these categories
______1) The film version & any variation to original presentation, ie the theater experience
______2) any official released version (VHS, LD, DVD, etc. maybe add TV airings here too)
______3) any specials aired at around that time
______4) any Fan Preservation Versions
______5) any Fan Edit Versions
2. Trilogy Specials - Mainly focus on the Movies, these are where most of the documentaries will show up
3. Expanded Universe - Holiday Special, Droids, Ewoks, Clone Wars, etc.
4. News/Interviews/Reports - these are similar to the Trilogy Specials, but they might wander (like how most Lucas interviews start to talk about the business of LFL) so i made another category
5. Related Specials - This is the catch all category.
6. Actors Specials - shows which might have alot of SW content but are about a specific person
7. Fandom - documentaries on fandom, Fan films would end up here too
8. Foreign Take/Rip Offs - Copyright Infringement is your best entertainment value

I got hung up at times trying to figure out where to place individual titles in the categories i've created.

Otherwise the presentation is a direct lift from vcdquality since i'm a fan of having too much information on the screen at one time. Presentation wise, there's a site where they have individual entries like vcdquality, but when you click on one, it expands to provide further info. (might be isohunt) that would be the dream presentation. otherwise, having a one page for each title, to provide basic info & an example pic would be a further step.

but at this point take a look, see what you like, what you don't like. feel free to make the info into something useful.
(use the find command, if something doesn't end up where you thought it should have been)

I see now that SKot mentioned to post them in chronological order, which seems like a good idea now.... will edit as time permits.

Lucas Finally Decides to Get AFI's Honor
Time
...and the aftermath: (which will be able to watch edited: The AFI show honoring Lucas will air June 20 on the USA Network.)

reuters.excite.com

n accepting the award, Lucas joked that he started out not being able to write a word, but became "the king of wooden dialogue."

cnn.com

William Shatner -- Capt. Kirk from another great space saga, "Star Trek" -- offered a musical number "from one star voyager to another." He performed a variation of "My Way," telling Lucas "you did it your way" while dancers in "Star Wars" stormtrooper costumes did a chorus line routine.

"Live long," Shatner told Lucas. "You've already prospered enough."

IESB.net interviewed Lucas, watch.

Leia did some schtick which will hopefully be in the SW tell all book she's working on...

This site keeps track of SW references (books, tv, movies, music, etc.) and will most likely have mentions of the tv programs in which you seek.

The first step i would take is to just make a list, prefereable in an excel document form which is easy to update and is expandable and maybe in the future, have a user input option, then make that a webpage. Once a tv program is known to exist, then start tracking down copies.

There's a dedicated SWTV message board at TFN:JC. Also sifting through all the posts to the major SW sites would be helpful. Figure everytime one of the movies came out, there we're 3-7 specials.

MPAA Press Release (.doc)

Seems this New round against individuals is not receiving much major press yet, only story seems to be:
http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=816

"Today, it appears the MPAA is renewing is campaign against individuals. In a press release titled "MOVIE STUDIOS VS. INTERNET MOVIE THIEVES, ROUND FIVE!" the MPAA reiterated its "You can click, but you can't hide" propaganda.

These lawsuits are helping us raise awareness about the consequences of stealing movies using the Internet, said Senior Vice President and Director of Worldwide Anti-Piracy John G. Malcolm. There is something very disturbing about the fact that major blockbuster hits such as Star Wars III are available illegally on the Internet before they are even released in movie theaters. People swapping movies illegally online need to understand that this is theft and they will be held accountable.

According to the copyright law, the MPAA can seek anywhere from $30,000 to $150,000 for each movie distributed; depending on the intent of the individual. The MPAA did not state how many people were sued, or which networks they were participating on."

Give Lucas A Run For His Money...
Time
Well I think George missed a big opportunity with Jar-Jar. In TPM he comes across as a bumbling fool and everyone hates him. In AotC after being put in the senate, Jar-Jar was going to have a few lines which gave the appearance that he was learning. Then he proposed the bill in the Senate which gave Palpatine emergency powers. Now imagine if in RotS, Jar-Jar is a token in the meetings of Palpatine in regards to the Clone War actions and behind the scenes Senate activites. Now Palpatine most likely still thinks Jar-Jar is the fool everyone in the audience thinks he is, well let's say Jar-Jar either walks into a meeting he shouldn't have (Sid/Grevious) or he connects the dots with some of Palpatines statements and Jar-Jar figures out that Palpatine is the Sith Lord. Jar-Jar immediately heads for the Jedi Temple to inform them, but Palpatine learns of this and sends his new apprentice to silence the annoying Gungan. Imagine the audience reaction to getting the death they wanted but also realizing that the doom of the jedi is near because of it. (you want the jedi to survive but for that to happen Jar-Jar needs to complete his mission...)

You could have replaced the Grevious wheel bike/Boga chase sequence with a short Jar-Jar running to the Temple as the newly crowned DV hunts him down. When catching up to Jar-Jar, DV calms down the excited Gungan, convincing him that what he believes is not true, then with a heavy heart, kills one of his oldest friends. Then we move on to the temple and the murder of the younglings.

What this sequence would also add to the story is that it would give Qui-Gon a little more credibility. He saw something in that Gungan (as did George) and as the PT evolved so would Jar-Jar.

George was so close, i'm surprised he didn't come up with something like that.
