STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Being a fan from Germany myself, ZeN, a SW:R german audio edit would be much appreciated!

The Star Wars version to watch, combined with the dubbing that I could recite backwards in my sleep, even after having seen the OT exclusively in its original language for at least the past 10 years.

The late Heinz Petruo delivered a wonderfully sinister and threatening Darth Vader - on par with, if not even more sinister than the magnificent James Earl Jones himself. At least to a native speaker's german ears. ;-) And Wolfgang Pampel has since then become the voice of Harrison Ford - I can't think of a german SW or Indiana Jones without him.

But (I hope I haven't gotten you wrong there, ZeN) I wouldn't alter Adywan's version and include the docking bay scene with Jabba. It was left out on purpose and in good taste. Maybe, if possible, include it via seamless branching. Otherwise, let it be part of the special features. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not too sure myself cause I think we don't have enough "flesh" around this montage to make it work properly. The newspaper itself wouldn't necessarily have to rotate, it could also crossdissolve, move from left to right, pop up out of thin air - there are many possibilities. I wouldn't have a problem with adding something new to the series if it's done well, but if there's another way to fix this story glitch that works more seamless and does the same trick, I'm all for it.

I like JR's idea of a newspaper montage a la the travel montages. Or, another suggestion, do you remember classic movies, where the newspaper rotates while the camera closes in from afar until the paper stops rotating and you can read the headline in close? Another interesting montage was seen near the beginning of Sky Captain, as far as I remember. Some kind of a newspaper montage in these fashions could perhaps be inserted between the happy family on top of the mountain and the Dean Stanforth bible sequence.

Weird question, considering the source material, but why would Spalko see all these human atrocities? Isn't "knowledge" the "gift"? I will never understand why Spalko had to die this horrible death because of possibly scientific knowledge, wisdom...well, uhm, enlightenment of some interdimensional kind? Not that I pity her...it just doesn't make sense.

Ah, yes, that was the whole point, right? ;-) I actually like the newsfeed idea. But since our interdimensional "host" probably wouldn't be showing Spalko real news footage, shouldn't we perhaps try to find footage that transports the idea behind those "old time feeds"? But of more recent quality? There have been movies in the last two or three decades that surely have dealt with almost anything nasty we can possibly throw at Spalko, I guess.

Just a thought.

Hello everybody, I'm a long time reader and first time poster - I finally had to leave a comment here because of Laserschwert's new jungle chase version: That's great stuff! I wish I had seen that in the theatre! The annoying sillyness is gone, the color looks much more natural and the edit seems smoother and better timed to me than the original version (which I haven't watched for some time now). Wow!
