***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL & NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***
Time
I probably mentioned this here a while back, but I actually already DID an NTSC version about six-seven months ago (came out nice, too), just without the little extra clips of 'lost' soundtracks synched to picture. I'm happy to share it--I'm not hoarding it--but I really, really don't have any free time to burn lots of discs for people, nor am I willing to host a torrent of it. If someone wants it--and is willing to distribute it to interested parties in whatever way they see fit (disc, torrent, carrier pigeon, etc)--then I'm happy to burn one and mail it to him/her.

While I am emphatically NOT involved with this ebay scandal, I kind of have to shrug if the guy is selling them for such a low price. You guessed it would cost him £2.50 (about $4) in materials versus the £5 ($8) he's selling for; factor in ebay and paypal costs--and they nickel-and-dime you at every turn--and he's making maybe $2 a disc. Throw in the sheer time/cost ratio (is an hour of your life spent making a disc worth $2 to you?) and he's losing money.

So do I think he's trying to profit off your work? Hell yeah. Is he actually? Hell no.

He may be fishing for fans to buy the discs from him, but if he's searching for a sucker, all he has to do is look in the mirror.

OK, with that said--since people are interested in an NTSC version and Jambe's OK with my transfer getting out there, here's the scoop:
I really, really, REALLY don't have the time to physically distribute/trade/etc. with people, nor do I have the technical knowledge/bandwidth/time to make and/or host a torrent of it. If someone out there has the ability/willingness/committment to somehow pass it on to other people, via torrent or whatever, PM me. Whomever seems most sincere, I'll mail you a DVDR of the NTSC version and from there on in, it's your responsibility to look out for your fellow man/woman/rodent.

How is this project going? I too just read Losing The Light (WOW. Just Wow, man),and would love to see some of that great LD material. I was in the Long Island test screening years ago for the movie, and wish I could recall what I saw that didn't make the final cut. MOst of the audience didn't dig it much, but part of that was because we were told we were going to see 'the new Sting movie.' A lot of people were disappointed as a result, but I totally dug it.

I made an NTSC version of the BE movie but don't have the right software to cram it and the extras on to a disc, just the movie itself. I've not given it to anyone, just made it so I could watch it on my TV. Jambe, how would you feel about the movie without extras going out into the world? I'm happy to pass it on here and there if you're OK with it, or keep it out of circulation if you feel that it's not your proper 'vision' without the extras.
