Looks beautiful…sad i missed this but great to see the lovely original IB print colours, interesting reference for any offical 4k UHD release if and when it happens.
Finally got a chance to watch this last night…an absolute pleasure. I realize this is something of a guessing game due to the lack of materials available to base a definitive look from but this really does appear to give a very good approximation of how this might have looked on big screen way back when. Simply put…The colors and contrast were great.
I actually watched this in a double bill with the new The Hitcher blu-ray (which was itself was scanned from a German theatrical print) and although obviously different beasts they both looked very authentic to the era which is a testament to all Dek’s work on this project and this will be my go to version of this classic for the foreseeable.
Thanks again Dek!!
Wow…screenshots for this look really, really great. Love your dedication to getting it right too Dek!
Would love to see this one in motion.
I am very late to the party on this one, but I would love to jump on board, although I'm more than happy to wait for version 2!
I must say the work of the guys (big thanks jimbotron) on this forum really does blow my mind. I have shamefully never seen this film, its been on my list of films to see for the last 5 or 6 years but I wanted to wait for a nice HD presentation, and I refused the Director's Cut Blu-ray as I wanted to hold out for the original oscar winning cut. It's brilliant to see that that is now a possibility!

I would love to see kk650 have a shot at removing the tint! :)
I'm just waiting for my UK amaray order to be dispached (it comes out on the 2nd of June).
While I wait for that i've been keeping myself busy working on a regraded Mad Max 2. It should be up on tehparadox later on today. :)
You do gods work sir
Gods work Indeed!!!
Aside from the terrible colour timing issues on this new transfer (which could probably be negated by immensely talented people like kk650 and the other members here) its the contrast changes that bug me even more.
There is no doubt that this 4k scan offers superior detail than the Mondo release but that extra detail is often blacked out and crushed due to this new Tony Scott-esque contrast treatment. Even more annoying is that the new 4k restoration of Fistful appears to have similar( but perhaps not as grievous) problems with regards to contrast and colour!
