"Bizzle's recordings"

What do you mean by that?

"Several audio tracks (i found the list before on this thread and imagine it would be incredible) and subtitles
original aunt beru dub - "blast it wedge" dub - c3po death star explanation --- can i assume that all these appear on the mono track?"

Not that this thread is intended for wish lists ( ), but it's more likely that there will be a couple of versions: straight transfers of Def. Col. and Faces (my personal preference), a "77" version (crawl, soundtrack), a "cleaned up" version (visual glitches removed), a PAL version, different languages, etc. There's a lot going on behind the scenes, so don't expect eveything at once, but at some point, we hope to eventually have something for everyone. At this point in time, it makes much more sense to have separate releases, than a "one size fits all" release.

re: bizzle, i'll be honest i have no idea, i just saw that list and copied it, i thought you posted it but i might be mistaken. the other 7 audio tracks make my mouth water.

re: several releases, i guess i'll just wait till you release one that is most similar to my wishlist - i really appreciate the effort you're putting in, i guess i'm just not the type of person that could own loads of versions, even if it is star wars. i know i am hoping for a mixture of the cleaned up and 77 versions which as many audio tracks as possible - i really like the idea of one set that holds these features.

just checking in to see how things are going on - in my quest to figure out what i want in a trilogy set i have decided i will need 2 seperate sets to get everything i want - the more i think about it, the more i thinks MeBe's will be one of them.

from one set i am hoping for the following:

dvd5 or dvd9 - i would prefer dvd5 but it seems like the MeBe set will now be dvd9 (not sure why)
from faces LD, if the rumours are true this rip will be the best from the faces LD there is.
original theatrical crawl
lightsabre imperfections ironed out
several audio tracks (i found the list before on this thread and imagine it would be incredible) and subtitles
original aunt beru dub - "blast it wedge" dub - c3po death star explanation --- can i assume that all these appear on the mono track?
letterbox size

1) LD PCM
2) My AC3 track
3) Mono
4) Def. Col. commentary
5) Official DVD commentary
6) ISOMIX score
7) Score from this new DVD
8) Bizzle's recordings

8 audio tracks that would be absolutely kick arse and eliminate the need for certain other project sets. it would be absolutely amazing if they were all on the final version.

how much of this wishlist is likely to become fact mebejedi?

from the other set i am hoping for the following:

one set from definitive collection
anamorphic
no edits from original laserdisc
bonus disk with def. col and faces bonus material

and i believe i have just described cowclops new version that should be completed very soon!

What I want is simple - a transfer of the Widescreen LaserDiscs to DVD. That's all. I don't care about commentary or any of the other extras.

then i'm afraid i can't help you cos i don't know which are widescreen and which aren't - perhaps going for the anamorphic versions like dr.gonzo would be what you're after? i'm afraid i don't understand all the technical points with widescreen, anamorphic and regular 4:3. i really need to get my head out of ass and figure it all out.

glad to be of some help.

Star Wars: Classic Edition by Ocpmovie (Released)
Time
this looks amazing but i have a couple of questions:

"It's the original version of Star Wars, not the way it was, but the way you remember it."

i don't really understand this bit.

also how many audio tracks are on it? does it include the commentary?, the isolated score?

i don't really understand how you have created this from the 2004 editions and painted them out but i'll take your word for it! it sounds very interesting and i would love to know the full specs of this - it sounds almost too good to be true.

Help Wanted: Upgrading from CD-to-DVD - Which preservation project version is best?
Time
i asked this very question yesterday, i'm sure it comes up all the time so i'll try to field this one if i can.

essentially there are quite a few different o-ot projects out there and it's really about finding one that suits the way you think!

each one is created by a fan and so if he/her idea of how it should look and you really need to create a list of things you hold dear to yourself and then choose the project that fits closest to it. i am in the process of doing this now.

i am leaning towards a trilogy set that will include as the commentary audio, i want the welding footage but i don't want the 3/4 second gap that appeared on earlier projects. the set i choose will be in dvd5 format which seems sadly to leave out zions work which will be amazing when it's done, but it will be in dl format. the list of things i want is getting shorter all the time. for instance i really like MeBeJedis work on the few frames with luke's lightsabre being rectified, i think it looks awesome but it's not a neccessity if that set won't include other things i consider more important. the new wave of projects look promising and the cowclops version is something that i think will be quite definitive. others prefer editdroids and dr. gonzo - personally my mind isn't made up yet, i am still reading up on these.

apart from a trilogy that i will agree with i am leaning towards the classic edition of ANH (just 1 disc) that seems excellent, i am hoping this has the doctored crawl though i'm not sure yet (more reading to be done) - there seems to be a boot of ANH that has the doctored crawl and the isolated score as a seperate audio track which sounds great to me but i don't think it's the classic edition which is a shame. i am considering getting hold of these two and MeBeJedis version of ANH (with luke doctored ightsabre) and piecing them together to make an edited version i consider complete. it would be nice to have a triglogy that was as faithful to LD versions as possible and a version of ANH that has been doctored/edited to suit my vision. i just need to find a trilogy set that i consider to be spot on...

hope this has helped you - bascially, you need to do a lot of reading! i would suggest sticking it out until cowclops finishes his new version (an apparent improvement on his first set known as tr47).

Also, regarding EditDroid... I could be wrong, but I think it may actually be the oldest O-OT release, pre-dating the TR47. Which makes it even more impressive that it's the current talk of the town. The initial EditDroid version of Star Wars with the lesser quality transfer and alternate mono soundtrack came out at least as early as March 2002. The next two films followed soon after. When did the TR47/Cowclops come out?

And Michael's right... this is the best forum EVER. Outside of the Cut Scenes list (which isn't strictly a forum), of course. ;o)

to clarify, i am a new and different michael coates (but no less worthwhile i assure you )

sorry to disappoint but that's not my article - the only articles i have written on star wars remain unpublished.

weird that this guy's name should be so similar to mine, but the missing s is i suspect, not a spelling mistake.

i thought it looked awesome! really well done and not a problem at all (despite DanielB's posts to the contrary) - i was very impressed with your skills.

there are so many people working on projects it's so hard to tell which one is best and how far they are with their work. a thread dedicated to a list of projects and their progress reports/availabilty would be really awesome to someone as new as myself. i've been reading for hours now and am only just starting to get to grips with all this.

is the MeBeJedi version the only one to have lukes sabre enhanced?

it seems the two full sets available are worth looking into in much more detail, but if you could sum them up at all, what would be the main differences between the EditDroid and Cowclops versions? from what i have read despite the Cowclops version being the oldest it still sets the benchmark but the EditDroid version seems to have raised the bar slightly, having not only the (remade) original crawl but also the chance to view the laserdisc version with the false crawl.

the classic edition does sounds amazing so it's probably worth getting just to see how well the two films mashed together turns out.

Anyone got some hosting room for two MPEGs? (13 Mb and 22 Mb)

i can also host files of that size for a decent amount of time.

are there big differences between these? is the crawl the oldest (correct) version?

also MeBeJedi - are yours finished? the most important thing i think is having a complete set that hold the same principles throughout - i can handle NTSC if i know it's a full set of the trilogy. I read up a little on Moth3r's and while it sounds great should i assume he is only working on ANH?

i really keen to know how many versions people here have and what they enjoy most and why - i don't suppose any of you lot are on msn? if so and you have spare time i would love to discuss the finer points of o-ot preservation michaeldcoates@hotmail.com

no worries it was a good read, though i never found out if you had completed the trilogy (hope your son is ok after the surgery though!)

i just read on the 'classic edition' and while it sounds great (a mixture of 2004 and the laserdisc) i can't help but feel it would be out of place in anyones colelction - i guess everyone needs a trilogy by the same person otherwise it won't seem like a complete trilogy (or maybe that's just me?).

Info Wanted: this is the best forum ever - which are the best preservation projects?

i don’t even remember how i got here, i was googling something and i found a thread on here, it was MeBeJedi’s thread about his project and i read it all - it was a great read looking at people so committed and so enthusistic.

the closest i have come to something like this is transferring my old vhs onto dvd but of course they are poor so naturally i am looking to find laserdisc rips of the o-ot. looking at the rules i can only assume the only way to get hold of peoples projects are through torrents which will be a drag but needs must.

my real questions are about how many out there are complete, what makes them different and which are in PAL.

i really liked MeBeJedis attempts to fix the lightsabre issues, the stills looked great, if there were a PAL version of his project i would probably go for that. Bare in mind i haven’t read up on everyones projects yet. are there any that seem to be the most popular amongst users here?

thanks for reading and thanks to everyone involved for their hard work, i can’t wait to get involved in all this!
