Info: The Frighteners - Signature Collection laserdisc preservation thread
Time
I never even seen the cover of the VHS but the poster is the same for the cover on the Signature Collection of the Frighteners LD (and on the DVD ) . Of course it is poster size and does not have all that writing on it.

I use to see it go for $300 on ebay but it has been awhile since I have seen one on there. And I believe that the poster type is called lenticular (which makes the 3D effect).

I can try and take some pics of it if you guys want to see it.

Info: The Frighteners - Signature Collection laserdisc preservation thread
Time
I worked at a movie theatre years ago when Frighteners came out. Since I was one of the projectionist at the time, I was in charge of making sure all the movie posters were current on Thursday night for the Friday releases. One of the best movie posters I ever saw was the 3D poster for the Frighteners. All of our customers could not take their eyes off this awesome poster and I was lucky enough to take it home with me when the movie left our theatre (only two weeks later ).

Anyways, I have always really liked this movie and Peter Jackson so I am very interested in this project. I saw these LDs years ago (college friend had them) and remember really enjoying them. If you guys need any more money for shipping or other fees, let me know because I would love to contribute to the preservation of this set. PM me or e-mail me at phuckaduck at gmail.com

I now have hung up my 3D Frighteners poster in my movie room in anticipation of watching this great set again.

.: The X0 Project Discussion Thread :. (* unfinished project *)
Time
I have just donated to the XO project. I hope this helps with keeping the project going and I will probably order a shirt when they are available. Love the new website too.

Thanks guys and keep up the great work. We really do appreciate all your hard work and I personally love reading these message boards (like laserman says, it is fun again, I just hope that it stays that way).

Information on the Original Release of ANH: Good (but old) article
Time
Here is the link:
Star Wars: A Long Day Remembered

Most of you already know about these changes (and this link) but it is good summary for people who might be new to ot.com. This might also help people with questions about the changes that were made and might give insight on why people are trying to preserve the original theatrical viewing of SW. Sorry if this has already been posted.

Count me in. This would be sweet.

Hence: I HATE Nero.

I would have to agree with Metallaxis. But I would add Roxio to the list of programs that are heavy and malfunctions a lot. If any of you guys are going to purchase one of these programs (and I have used a lot of them), Alcohol 120% is by far the best for your money. As a system administrator, I have done thousands of installs of Nero and Roxio and they are sometimes the cause of problems with computers spontaneously restarting and getting the dreaded BSOD (Alcohol 120% has never done this to me on a Windows XP machine).

Also, I am a big fan of DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor. You have got to love programs that are free, small and do what they advertise. Anyways, I do not want to hijack this thread but if you are going to buy a program for burning purposes, you should give Alcohol 120% a try.

Idea & Info: using Star Wars DVD and PDA/Smartphones to help educate...
Time

I know this may be off topic, but I wanted to share with everyone of a good tool to use when discussing SW. I ripped Wookie Split Screen into small avi files (using xvid codec) to be viewed on my Treo 650. I have a SD 1 GB card and I can fit all of these movies on it (each movie ends up being about 230MB).

I get into discussions with people all the time that believe the changes for the SE in ANH, ESB, or ROTJ are minor. So now, after arguing with them for a few minutes, I get out my Treo and play them one of the versions of the split-screen and then they get real quiet. Then when they are done watching a scene or two, they usually are in awe of 1) that my phone can play movies and 2) (and more importantly) once seeing the vast differences in a lot of the scenes (that I have bookmarked), they usually tend to agree that I was right about the changes being unnecessary.

Also, it will be great to stand in line for Episode 3 and have my Treo in hand, watching the previous SW movies. It sure will make waiting in line this year a lot more fun.

Thanks Rik for putting these in my hands, Wookie Groomer for making this great set, and to all of you that contribute in preserving the SW universe. I have most of the discs here that you guys talk/made. They really have brought a lot of joy and entertainment to me and my friends. Time to go back and lurk but keep up the AWESOME work. Thanks again.

Star Wars Radio Dramas - a general discussion thread
Time
I am not sure how many different sets there are but my friend recently ordered this one:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1565111656/qid=1096578728/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl14/104-1318103-9186351?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

It contained 15 discs from all three radio dramas. Some say that these might have been edited but I am not sure. Will have to check it against my version.

Info: OT Bootleg DVDs
Time
I would have to agree with RebelScum and Rowman and that I too appreciate any effort put into restoring the OT. This is only my second post ever (signed up only a few days ago) but I have been a long time lurker. I, for one, usually skip the usernames of posters who are here just here to be negative and really have nothing to contribute.

I wanted to encourage MeBeJedi, Zion, and all the others that are doing transfers to keep up the great work. Most of us want the version that our generation has grown up loving (and yes, it does not include cartoon colors). Having worked at a movie theatre where my general manager owned the trilogy on film, the work that the people are doing here is a lot closer to what I use to watch with my popcorn and Diet Coke than those SE DVDs ever will be. BTW, I recently talk to Rob (the GM) and he says that ANH has not held up well over the 15 years (the last time I watched them) and his print is turning pink (he even stored it in the correct coniditions). However, ESB and ROTJ are still in great shape.

Much like MagnoliaFan has his version of the Star Wars universe (which I can't wait to watch all 6 to see how he tweaks it into his own story) and GL has his version of the Star Wars universe (which he has changed to make it almost cartoonish, among many other things, which is fine but I don't like it) and then there are the people that are here working on the LD transfers trying to preserve "our generations" star wars universe which, for me, really only includes the OT. Prequels, what prequels?? Certain users seem to miss this point (read the post about MagnoliaFan Edits to see what I mean) and assume that they know exactly how the star wars universe should be and if it doesn't match their perceptions (and they usually use GL perception) than it is wrong.

Anyways, I wanted to encourage all of you that are doing transfers, to keep at it and keep us posted. And lets take MeBeJedi advice and "Don't feed the trolls!!"
