The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread

Loving the concept of reordering the film so that it is Darth Vader post-suit that attacks the temple and using the Mcquarrie prototype helmet, but looking down that page at the photos it, the most striking one is the image of the mask without the helmet.

http://www.starwarshelmets.com/2010/SWH_RMQ_Vad10.jpg

It would seem to be the most appropriate approach as the first iteration of the suit should look like it's just had its parts requisitioned from bits of medical tech lying around just to keep Anakin/Darth alive. The sudden appearance of the full Darth Vader suit in EpIII seems awfully convienient that it was just lying around or had been designed and created on the fly. We can easily imagine he refines the mask and adds the helmet later on between films as he grows into his role of the Emperor's apprentice.

It would also echo Anakin's redemption in EpV1 when Luke removes the helmet

That's the point, in no way a main character can become a supporting character in the same saga without splitting it in two. And this happens several times, among many other inconsistences. What's more, the used past of the OT now (if you watch the saga in order) looks almost unbelievable... "How's that... no one remembers Yoda (I accept no one knew he was alive), even if the Rebellion seems to be so related to the Jedi? No one asks Luke "hey, are you the son of the great Gral Skywalker??"... No one knows Vader is Anakin?.

Even though I think it'd be cool that some of the adjustments which need to be done to fix this should be actually done in the OT (like making some rebel team mate ask Luke about Anakin, as I said before... because, umh, well, I think it'd add to the spirit of ESB), I hope to see what can be done in the prequels to make them suit the OT universe

This got me thinking about the unlikelihood of luke having anakin's surname name and noone paying it any attention, despite after the events of the prequels he must be pretty infamous.

Perhaps it would have been better if he had originally been named Anakin Vader before the council gave him the jedi name 'Anakin Skywalker' as a mark of his new life (like being forbidden to see his mother) Maybe 'skywalker' would even be a secret name known only within the jedi order although this may be a stretch too far.

being given the title of Darth Vader not only has historical relevance (otherwise where does vader come from, apart from sounding cool?) but it is a mark of him abandoning the jedi way

Making Vader hate and resent the name of Skywalker may have led him to destroy all historical records of the name and then luke has nothing to fear being called skywalker as there are no records of him and the only person with a real connection to the name has no intention of going back to tatooine. (it also would have been nice if, after his mother's death the prequels had firmly established this was the case, so there is reason luke would be safe there)

I was OK with the darkside cave not being explained in the prequels, and it'd take too much editing to work in an explanation. That said, I love the idea of having the twins (or just Luke if ROTJ goes that way) born on Dagobah rather than some random asteroid we've never heard of.

I was convinced before episode 3 came out that we'd see obi-wan and yoda with baby luke in tow chasing/being chased by count dooku at the end of the film landing on dagobah and they'd have a huge fight ending in count dooku being killed in the cave, leaving his evil spirit behind. Yoda would then choose to exile himself there as his force presence would be balanced and cancelled out by dooku's - hence he lives nearby this seemingly random evil cave.

I don't think it would have diminisedh its mystery, rather embellish the reason for it, tie the PT and OT together, make Luke's familiarity with dagobah make sense and give a reason for Yoda to be there. Everyones a winner!

Course then dooku selfishly gets his head cut off right at the start and blows my theory right out the water.

I like the idea of Dooku on the council in TPM. Maybe having him in a meeting, but as a hologram because he's off-planet, could be a workaround for the sync issue. Fuzz it up and there y'go.

I love that idea :)

been a busy few days on this forum and this topic got a bit squashed. I love the idea of Dooku being a hologram on the jedi council in TPM and was wondering if it would also be possible to get Syfo-Dyas in there as well. Both these characters just pop out of nowhere in AOTC, it'd be nice to briefly introduce them earlier. My recall of AOTC is a bit rusty but i was never sure if it was meant to be implied Count Dooku was pretending to be Syfo Dyas to place the order for the clone army, or if the actual Syfo Dyas was pressured/manipulated/tricked into doing it or what. The whole plotline is a bit too vague - if we could make hologram syfo dyas seem afraid of dooku or something, it could make this whole story element a bit more logical.

And if one of them replaced Yoderina or whatever her name is, that'd be ideal.

Yoda - There can be only one!

Hi chaps, just discovered these forums about a week ago and been devouring all the ideas for making the pt and ot trilogies better and just thought I'd chip in an idea I had years ago for TPM. had a quick search and couldn't find anything related, so hope it hasn't been mentioned before

I remember when I first watched TPM that Qui-gon using the force to make watto's chance cube (or dice) fall in his favour and then little ani going on to win the race as well was just so boring.

What I always wanted to see was Qui Gon losing the game of chance and/or Anakin narrowly losing the race so that Qui Gon is forced to nick the engine part he needs anyway and basically kidnap Anakin, making their escape from the planet after the race more urgent.

I'm not sure if watto works for the hutts, but I'm sure a way could be found to make this apparent, so that when Qui Gon steals the engine parts and his slave, jabba gets involved and is livid his property has been stolen, and thus the hutts start a vendetta against jedi. By extention the entire criminal underworld turn against the jedi throughout the PT, making their eventual destructon more believable, making the underused hutts a critical part of the storyline and making the jedi seem not so infallible (and Qui Gon more reckless). It also would help tie into ROTJ where Jabba is particularly condescending towards jedi.

Good idea BUT. Anikan said if they have sensors on them so if they try to escape they BLOW YOU UP!!!! The idea of not being able to just leave makes it seem more realistic. Its not a video game were they are there by free will.

This is a good point and I had forgotten that element, but there are a number of ways around it ( being out of range by the time watto tries to blow him up/ edit out that line/ make it seem as though its only a scary rumour to keep the slaves in line etc etc)

The whole phantom menace suffers from a chronic lack of excitement and energy except for the podrace and the end lightsaber fight and too much predictability, and I'd love to have seen some "oh F**k!" moments like when the millenium falcon's hyperdrive doesn't work in the OT
