Help Wanted: Star Wars The Force Awakens: 1986 Edition
Time

I’ve had this same problem, no idea why it happens. I gave up on my editing experiments because of it. If you figure it out let me know.

edit:
though now that I think about it, I read some where that it might be either what program you use to convert file types or what file type you convert to. Are you using MP4?

Not that it will necessarily pertain to this edit, but I’ve always felt that in the Prequels yoda would have been much more effective as a character less seen and more heard. I always had the impression that yoda was essentially every living jedi’s teacher in that he was like the principal of the jedi “school” and the masters were the “teachers” that taught various disciplines of yoda’s philosophies. Just my two cents.

And to address the notion of Dooku appearing out of nowhere…honestly, I think that’s part of his problem in Episode II anyway. He’s a villain that shows up out of nowhere and gives an expositional speech as to why he’s the new villain. I feel like if I can find a conceivable way to introduce him into Episode I, he’ll at least be a familiar face in II and we’ll have some notion of who he is. Actually, as I’m typing this out, I’m thinking showing him in the council would work really well. I’ll see what I can do.

In the beginning of the movie when Obi and QGJ are aboard the federation ship, Obi says “master Yoda said I should be mindful of the future.” Would it add anything to have him say master dooku? I think this change be used as foreshadowing for what about to happen over the next two movies between him and Obi? Plus, of course, we hear the name dooku early which helps establish continuity for his character.

MKV Conversion on Mac
Time
I used Handbrake to convert a .mkv file to .mp4, which seemed to work fine. But every time I import it into Adobe Premiere, it only plays for one second. When checking the clip properties within Premiere the clip is still the correct file size but the duration is only a second. The file plays fine in VLC. Any ideas on how to handle this or any alternatives to handbrake?

Thank you

I think letting owen and beru finish their scene first would work better, then maybe cut to an establishing shot of the homestead. Ideally the way I see the scene play out in my head, would be a shot of the homestead from a distance and a speeder comes into frame. Biggs jumps off and you’d here the two of them greeting one another. Specifically the lines you used from the scene inside tosche station. Then then wipe or fade, to show an elapse of time, to the part of the deleted scene where biggs says “I’ve missed you kid.”

The dialog prior to that part is entertaining and I’d hate to lose it, but i think with the robot going across the scene and them jumping down from the ledge it just doesn’t fit with the homestead’s landscape. Plus the shorter the scene the less rotoscoping is needed if you wanted to go as far as taking out the background to match the homestead scenery.

Also does anyone know if there was ever a score written for the biggs/ luke deleted scene, that could be added back in?

maybe you could use the part at the very end of the scene of biggs walking away. flip biggs so he is walking back toward luke and move it to the beginning of the scene. I dunno just throwing anything i have at it. I wish I could help with the work in some way, I have experience with video editing and effects, but its been years, not to mention, like I said, I don’t have the software or a capable computer.

That would be hard but doable, perhaps in the future!

Since no one has sent the clips yet, i’m downloading the films (dont worry, its not pirating, i have original copy’s) to start my work!

For now i’m focusing on littlev87 request and LuckyGungan2001 request.

I already sent a message to xxtelecine 7xx with a tip, but i’m also going to search for some high quality sounds.

I already checked some links that Bingowings shared, pretty cool stuff.

Smithers your suggestions are really cool but has you said they are extremly tedious to do, so i’m going to leave that to the future, i’m not saying no, i’m saying not now.

So for now i’m going to give more attention to more specific requests instead of full lists, but dont let that stop you from sharing your request, in time i’m going to try out your suggestion too!

Yeah I don’t have the clips either, sorry about that. I would talk to team negative1 about their cleaned up version of the luke and biggs deleted scene.

I think this is the thread where they posted it originally,

edit:
also I would like to point out, though I had a similar idea at one point, it is strictly Ray Afraid’s, and he deserves the credit.

this is something I have wanted to attempt for a long time, but I don’t have the software or the computing power. You may be able to get a cleaned up version of the biggs/luke scene from team negative1. Also you could use some shots of the lars homestead from ATOC. This would definitely add grounding to lukes character, and his friendship with biggs.

Revenge Of The Cut - Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (* unfinished project *)

Your edits are fantastic, and are a great example of how far a fan edit can be taken. If you have any other clips that weren't posted, I'd love to see them.

On another note, have any thoughts on removing scenes of Palpatine using his lightsaber? Personally, I believe it is as outrageous as Yoda using a light saber. I'm not sure if there is enough footage left over at that point to connect the dots of the narrative, but I'm wondering what the possibilities are.
