Good stuff, I would love to see how you’ve managed to keep all these beats in and chop it down to 2 hours.
Good stuff, I would love to see how you’ve managed to keep all these beats in and chop it down to 2 hours.
Can you activate the link, please? 😃
I disabled the link because the file has been deleted. I have been focusing the small amount of spare time I have lately editing the Obi-Wan Kenobi series into my own film cut. Speaking of which, I have integrated the deepfake of AOTC Anakin into Kenobi Chapter V (episode 5). Video is 4K HDR format, so it is rather large and could stand to be converted to MKV/x265 codec to reduce the file size (12GB). PM for a link if anyone is interested.
I will re-integrate and re-upload the Luke/Mandalorian as soon as I get a chance and post a comment in this thread when I do.
I’m a little behind on this thread after this latest episode, so pardon me if this has been done or said already.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this whole series and loved this episode as well for multiple reasons but the one thing I immediately thought of modifying while watching the episode that I believe would enhance the scene was adding a bit more of Vader’s voice to the mix in the post duel scene. Specifically when he says “I did…” to more thematically depict Vader as the one responsible for Anakin’s death. I tried to keep it fairly subtle but am open to critique if anyone has any suggestions or feedback.
I added a tad more to the following line “…the same way I will destroy you” as well but kept it much lower in the mix until ‘you’.
My Star Wars radar must be broken because my friends all criticized the same things, yet I found myself thoroughly enjoying this episode. The Snow Speeders were a bit shoddy but it wasn’t so bad that it bothered me. I thought the sets looked quality and felt that they delivered on the scale throughout, which is something I feel they have been struggling a bit with in the earlier episodes. I think the character of Tala is a fantastic addition to the Star Wars universe and carried this episode for me with a stellar performance. I still believe cutting down on the Inquisitors’ dialogue is key to making them work but despite that, I am liking the writing for Reva and Moses’ performance as the episodes continue.
The episode gave me Dark Forces vibes and was comparable to Mando season 2 episode 4 imo, which I also loved. I’ve been loving this series so far (I think it is miles ahead of BoBF personally) and believe after tightening the screws just a bit, this series can be crafted into a nearly perfect product.
It is important to note, I can’t shut off the editing part of my brain anymore, so I may have less of an issue with poor writing, performances, and visuals because I know I can just edit it after the fact. However, all that being said, I can understand not seeing the value in this one for the overall narrative and wanting it to be largely skipped over in an edit.
(I misread your post the first time)
Valid point, but I would like to hear what people think. I think the silence works better when Vader is actually hunting him later on.See for yourself how you feel (clip below this post)
I agree, I’m currently attempting to completely cut out the music in this scene. I think removing much of the soundtrack (similarly to how Luke vs. Vader in ESB was absent of a score) in their scuffle here will increase the tension and drive home the horror vibe they’re already leaning into.
I’m experimenting with moving some of the dialogue around between them as well and think there is potential there. For example, Obi doesn’t ask “What have you become?” until closer to the second time we cut back to them. I also synced up Vader’s reply with his one-handed strikes (“I…Am…What you made me”) and I’m really liking how it turned out but will need to sit on it a bit longer to know for sure.
Luke Shamook deepfake in 4K (No Audio) for editing purposes: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/
Working on redoing this with audio and adding it back into the context of the scene.
It could be funny to just have him drop a seismic charge in it as he’s flying by. That seems like the whole reason they came up with the scene and they just came up with a convoluted reason for it to happen.
When he was slowly creeping to the Sarlacc, I thought he was going to just start unloading on it à la Kylo at the end of TLJ. His face emotionless as he fires into the pit a comically long period of time. He stops and Fennec asks “You okay?”. Boba replies “Just business.” and flies away.
Felt Inspired by The Mandalorian, created a Luke Skywalker deepfake using some old 90’s dialogue from Mark Hamill that was for a book commerical. Since my deepfakes don’t look 100% realistic; It’s a hologram.
Did you synthesize the audio from the book commercial or just use some clever editing? I need to synthesize some Mark and Harrison dialogue for a few of my fanedits and haven’t been able to get it to sound that good. If you synthesized that, can you teach me your ways?
The Biomes and vehicles footage is available in 1080 and 4K…
My bad, just trying to help out where I can!
I upscaled the Biomes Mustafar footage to 4K: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2/folders/1s1kZA9sJxaFip9nUmQvGgBYU1qldz19x
The footage I saw previously was 720P so I wanted to help out in case that was all you had.
Sorry all! After I said I would complete the Luke/Mando edit, I started battling some new audio issues with FCPX and have been spending all of my time packing/moving (my landlord decided to sell our place, forcing us to suddenly move). I completed the episode edit in an afternoon but for some reason FCPX has decided to start adding random pops and clicks in the audio where there are none in the MP4 file. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this, I would really appreciate any advice as I need to figure out how to resolve this to continue making edits.
BandobrasTuk thanks! but i honestly cannot find it…could you give me a link?
I’ll throw together an edit with the Shamook deepfake and the Corridor Luke this weekend and send you a PM when I’m done 😉
I didn’t expect to enjoy this movie in the slightest as I do not typically care for Snyder’s projects, but was pleasantly surprised. Although I did like the movie, it was still over indulgent in many places and I wholeheartedly believe it absolutely did not need to be 4 hours long. There were many scenes that did not make sense within the context of the film (or were completely unrelated to the plot), were unnecessarily long, and there was definitely an over abundance of slow-mo. I know that Zack is known for this but I feel even his past works weren’t this over the top with the effect. You could cut off a good 30 minutes if there were no slow-mo.
I understand that Zack wanted to release this in Imax and so the aspect ratio reflects this formatting. However, we are not watching the film in an Imax theater and would not have seen these black bars while watching in an Imax. What we are experiencing is a byproduct of the home release not being reformatted for our home theaters. This is in contrast to directors who release their films in a specific aspect ratio for effect, such as Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, where the aspect ratio would have been visible in the theater as well. After now watching the film in both the original aspect ratio and horizontally stretched, I can say that I did not personally observe any significant advantage to the incremental extra vertical space offered in the 1.33:1 aspect ratio.
Forgive me if this has already been done or is included in Burbin’s release but I can upscale these clips to 4K and clean them up even more if people want it (I’ll be doing it anyways for my own Rogue One edit lol). I’m only judging this off of the above vimeo link, just to be clear.
Uploaded a 4K and 4K HDR version of the Shamook Luke deepfake, this time w/ audio: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2/folders/
Looks great! Tried to integrate this clip into the episode but it didnt work due to different framerate sorry Im a newbie when it comes to editing I hope someone else can do this and upload the entire ep would be gold 😄
My bad! I only checked a few seconds of it before uploading and thought it looked normal. Checked it just now and it’s definitely at 60fps. I’ll upload a corrected version to the same drive link in a few 😉
Also, I have a huge list of fan edits (including this Mandalorian fix) that I will begin crafting/uploading as soon as my new computer arrives. I’ve got a Last Jedi edit that I haven’t been able to complete due to computer issues but it’s about halfway completed on my current computer. After that is finished, I’ll start work on my definitive edits for the rest of the series. Pumping out a Mando edit should be easy compared to these movies 😃

Can I get a link to these? Thanks in advance!
That’s understandable, I’ll see what I can do with it.
I’m currently upscaling and enhancing the Shamook deepfake to 4K, I think it really helps sell it. I’ll post a link when it’s completed.
Is anyone planning on incorporating the new footage from Corridor Digital’s version of the Luke Mandalorian appearance? https://youtu.be/861gfPVmgdc?t=1044
Corridor’s wig is a little long but that can be adjusted with some feathering, the added emotion seen in Luke’s face is a huge step up. I feel like a hybrid version between Corridor and Shamook’s edit would be nearly perfect.
May I please have a link to your TFA and TLJ edits? I really appreciate the outside the box approach you’re taking with these cuts.
