Ironic that the master of sarcasm doesn’t understand sarcasm.

Luke, Leia, and Han didn’t share a scene. Luke didn’t speak. WORST MOVIE EVER.

What.

Well, I’ve heard those complaints from others, and I don’t know you from a hole in the forum, so there’s nothing that indicates sarcasm there.

Too subtle perhaps? My whole post was a riff on Jetrell Fo’s post (notice the similarities). He wrote: “My daughter and I had fun and finally got to see some of our favorite characters back on the big screen, together again, part of yet another adventure”. I don’t know what movie he saw, but if we assume that by favorite characters he meant Luke, Leia and Han, I did not see a movie where they were together again, part of an adventure. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like the movie because of that (though I did not like the movie, but for other reasons). Got it?

It’s clearly apparent that you were riffing on and subverting Jetrell Fo’s post. Frink isn’t disputing that. There was no hint that the criticisms highlighted in your post (via your substituted words) weren’t genuinely your stance though.

Well, that’s the problem with riffing on and subverting someone else’s post. Just like the Star Wars saga, it needs to rhyme 😉

By the way, just in case it isn’t clear, the only reason I wrote that post is that, just like Jay, I found it condescending.

It is only now, after reading remarks in this thread, that I see how overly uncritical some of the fans are. I mean no disrespect to anyone and I will not point out any 1 person, it just seems that some can’t see that this movie is a lazy, nostalgic cash grab… True, Star Wars has never been about brain surgery or a cure for cancer … but I wasn’t expecting a remake of Episode IV either. How anyone can think this is acceptable, is a mystery to me. I did not have fun and didn’t even got to see some of my favorite characters back on the big screen, together again, part of yet another adventure (Leia only has a cameo and Luke is hardly in it at all) … that is what made it so disappointing for some of us.

Cheers

Krieg der Sterne - Despecialized Edition 2.7 (German) (Released)

I just wanted to say that I love this.

My uncle's German VHS was my first experience watching the OOT versions of ESB and ROTJ and I did watch SW in German back then as well, because my Czech OOT copy was like 4th generation and pretty worn out, so the German version does have a great nostalgic value for me.

On a related subject, I'd love to give this to my uncle (who's German), but he doesn't have a BD player, so it would have to be an SD DVD - is there any plan for an SD version, or should I make one myself?

You can get a decent blu ray player from Sony for under 80 EUR:

I own that one myself and am fairly satisfied. If he were to get one I would be happy to burn a copy and send it to him

What an awesome experience to watch Star Wars and have it look the way it did when I watched it in the cinema oh so many years ago. This will be the only version I will watch from here on out. Can't wait to show it to my daughter once she's old enough.

Many thanks to Harmy and Laserschwert and everybody else who was involved in restoring the favorite movie of my childhood.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

First-time poster. Just watched Star Wars Revisited and have to say it's bloody brilliant. IMO, this version is right up there with the OOT. I don't remember being that excited about watching SW since I was a kid, so cheers to Adywan for that. Since I despise the PT (I've seen each of those movies twice - once in the the cinema and once rented on DVD) and like to pretend they don't exist, I was a bit sceptical at first as it was Adywan's goal to make these two trilogies better fit into one another, but I have to say that all those changes were in good taste. The changes that I tought might bother me the most - PT music during the climatic fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader and the restructuring of Obi-Wan hut scene, I actually liked the best. One thing that seemed to be a bit off tough was the loudness of the sound compared to the dialog. I had the remote in my hand all the time and when there was a dialog scene I increased the volume and when there was and action scene I had to reduce the volumne again because it was too loud. Anybody else had that problem?

P.S. Slightly off topic. To all those PT fanboys who keep harping on about how Mark Hamill is just as bad an actor (or even worse) as the guy who played Anakin Skywalker in the PT (forgot his name), I have to say this is absolute BS. IMO, Mark Hamill is no worse and probably even better in Star Wars than Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher (and I say this as a Harrison Ford and Carries Fisher fan). Besides, the work he's done voicing the Joker in Batman - The Animated Series is unsurpassed (haven't seen Dark Knight yet though). I don't see the guy from the PT carrying off something as impressive as that anytime in the future.
