Info & Info Wanted: Star Trek Theatrical versions - question
Time
You are slightly right, it was a loooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, but I was actually searching for the complete show aired between season 1 and season 2 of the Next Generation, it had some behind-the-scenes footage plus a hybrid B&W/color version of The Cage, I've seen it only once on SAT 1 and it's title backtranslated from german was something like From one generation to another, it was hosted by Patrick Stewart. Do you know if it was released on some "normal" format ? (NOT laserdisc or something similar, laserdisc is something completely unknown in this part of Europe).
Also, the original series was never released here, and I don't want to buy it from some other country, because it would have no (usable) subtitles and my english is not that good (as you probably noticed from my posts )

"The Cage" has actually been available on video since 1986 in its hybrid B/W/Color format (Color scenes being specifically those included in "The Menagerie", and the black and white portions from a personal work print owned by Roddenberry). At the time, it had been thought that all color prints of the pilot were destroyed. The Color/B/W version features an introduction by series creator Gene Roddenberry taped on the sets of the movie Enterprise shortly before their conversion to their TNG forms, and a closing by Roddenberry.

In about 1988 or 1989, Paramount discovered a color print of the pilot still in their vaults and released it on video. This version is also frequently seen in syndication.

Both the Color and Hybrid versions (with Roddenberry's intro/outro), can be seen on DVD on Volume 40 (with the final episode) and Star Trek: The Complete Third Season.

Now if Paramount would only release the pilot version (not the broadcast version) of "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
