Thanks!
Thanks!
These are awesome - great job. Are they available somewhere?
Looks awesome - How's it going with the '40 something day render' of SW? I may have been out of the loop on the progress, if that ever was 'released' or if it was scrapped for a new version. Are you doing the other OT films next? Thanks Dr.
Awesome - pull the trigger!
I thought I remember hearing the laserdiscs for SW and ESB still have aliasing due to noise reduction pass used at the time of authoring? And that the Japanese discs didn't have this? I forget. Anyways, yeah, ask "Laserdisc Master". [job title of the year]

It's very easy to get lost in the weeds when it comes to this stuff. I tend to lean toward Team Blu's approach of scripting for the best presentation of media that is already starting out sub-par.
Minimizing the aliasing/jagged pixels is huge to me even if it sacrifices detail on the sub atomic level. One of your SR examples of the second shot in the film had major aliasing on the star destroyer but Team Blu/Dark Jedi's looks a lot better - maybe this has been addressed in your subsequent versions.
The sweet spot will end up falling somewhere between what's scientifically possible and what's aesthetically pleasing.
Keep up the great work
It's hard to get a true gauge on the aesthetics with just stills - plus depending on the means we view them with - different people have different reactions. So far - this is super impressive. Am looking forward for the chance to watch.
Especially if this was the real Dr. Dre.
Would need to see more moving footage but it appears to still have less issues than any print would've had by week 2 of it's theatrical run. And given what you're starting with - this is pretty amazing.
Your samples look great - do notice the improved detail. A worthy entry into the GOUT wars. (Can you kick off Empire while this thread is going? Thanks) ;]

Finally got around to watching the '77 Blu-ray all the way through. As everyone has said, it's really impressive and almost impossible seeming that this came from the GOUT. Watched it on a 720p TV via PS4 and it looked better than many DVDs do. Colors looked really great. I know people will always quibble about 'proper color'. I don't know how anything looked in '77. But as someone who grew up with VHS, LD, and broadcasts in the 80's and 90's, this looks fantastic.
Really the best 'true' presentation of Star Wars '77 as opposed to the reconstructed options. Next on the list is the '97 disc.
Hoping to add the theatrical and '97 ESB/RoTJ discs to the collection some day. Thanks for this.
we are glad you liked it, thanks.
Agree on all counts. Wishing you guys luck on the next two.
