'Backstroke of the West' with retail DVD quality : FINISHED & RELEASED

OK, I noticed that after you mentioned it, so I changed it as well. I now get 1 5.42 GB .m2v file... BUT when I attempt to play it, it shows up as being 39407 hours long!! I can't import this file into Muxman either...

Any ideas on how to fix that?

okay, so with a little more searching I found a copy of smartripper. But I'm still not getting the .m2v and .ac3 file. All I get is a an .idx, .vob and .dtx files. Is this correct? Or is there some setting that I need to change? I looked through the settings and don't see anything to check off that says .m2v or .ac3 so I'm lost... again.

I downloaded this kit when it was first available. Now, I'm quite the newb at this... but I can't even figure out how to rip the ROTS DVD to the .m2v and .ac3 files to even start putting this together. I went to the Smartripper page, but it says that the program is no longer available. So I went and downloaded PGCdemux (which is the other program the instructions suggest to use) but all I can rip is the actual .vob and .ifo files.

I'm about ready to give up.

Is there a way to do this?
Time
Yes, it is... it's just taking way longer than I expected to, since I'm using so many short clips (2 - 3 minutes tops) from so many different films. But I actually have two other quick questions...

1) Will I be able to use multiple audio tracks for the same, or even different clips? Like if I have a 5.1 DTS track and a 6.1 DTS track for the same clip, is there a way for me to make the audio selectable? Or would I need to make that clip twice, once with the 5.1 and once with the 6.1 track?

2) Is there some software that I might be able to use to fade in and out on these clips? I was thinking that just have a clip start up and end suddenly might be kinda... blech. Know what I mean?

Thanks again for all the help

Is there a way to do this?

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way that I can take scenes from multiple DVD's and create a single disc with multiple chapters... without compressing any of the audio or video quality. Basically, it's like this... I work at a mom & pop home electronics store, and we just set up an ass kicking 7.1 channel surround setup on a 70" Plasma screen in our home theater room. I want to take scenes from multiple DVD's - i.e. Star Wars, Jaws, Jurassic Park, etc. - and make a really cool demo DVD that we can play in there all day. Something that has non-stop action, explosions, special effects, THX sound... you get the idea. But I don't want to have to sit through the boring stuff.

I'm a complete video editing noob, so I wouldn't even know where to start. But the most important thing is that I don't want to lose any of the quality - either video or audio - of the original discs. Anyone that can point me in the direction of a tutorial somewhere?

Any help is much appreciated.

NON-Star Wars Fan Edit and Alternate DVD Covers SHOWCASE
Time
That ALIEN cover rox my sox... great job. So does the Johnny Mnemonic one... awesome stuff. As for my Godzilla covers, when (if) I get them done, I'll post links if I can find somewhere to put them all.

Does anyone happen to have the cover created by BunnyDojo for the HD Blade Runner that was up at MySpleen? The cover that is in the torrent is corrupt, I've tried to download it several times with no luck. But it looks so damn cool that I need to get my hands on it... anyone? Please??

NON-Star Wars Fan Edit and Alternate DVD Covers SHOWCASE
Time
Thanks for the comments Rikter. I'm actually still working on this set, it's 28 covers (!) so it's taking me a little while. But I've made some progress - and some changes... most importantly, I've changed the set to a thinpak cover set, because of the fact that it is 28 discs total, and it was taking up waaay too much space on my shelves with the regular amaray cases. I've got the spanning spine 98% done, except for a little tweaking that still needs to be done:

I'm still searching for some high quality hi-res artwork for the original Japanese release posters... if anyone can help, please give me a holla.

Let me know what you think.

***The ADigitalMan non-Star Wars DVD Info and Feedback Thread***

Just wondering if anyone out there would be willing to hook me up with a few of these ADM edits. I will of course PiF on anything I get... I'm most interested in the Harry Potter, Austin Powers, and Terminator films, but I'd be interested in just about anything on the first page list. And I can do either SL or DL. Please let me know via PM. Thanks.
