Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hi folks, first time posting for a long time.  Hoping that I can get some help here since I have exhausted tips I have found from Google searching.

First of all, thank you Harmy and all of the other dedicated folks that make projects like the despecialized editions possible.  I'm very impressed with the quality of the DE's.  I hadn't tried any restoration projects since the TR47 originals and was glad to fire up the ol' myspleen account to download the DE's.

Now about my problem.  I burned the DE's to DVD+R DL media and they played fine on my laptop.  However my old 40GB fat PS3 (my only bluray player besides the laptop) did a hard hang mid way through each film on the layer switch.

I did some Googling and determined I needed to get a hold of some Verbatim AZO DL media.  I did that and reburned ANH.  That fared better, the PS3 did not hang hard but still hung and skipped content.  So I did some more googling and determined that I needed to burn at 2.4x speed.  So I reburned ANH again and the problem actually got worse.

I am reburning ANH hope one more time thinking maybe it was a bad disc but I am not holding out much hope, new or otherwise.

I am using Imgburn at 2.4x speed.  I can't find any other settings that I should be changing.  The discs verify fine after the burn and the laptop is fine with the layer switch.  I am pretty much out of ideas and I've tried searching with various terms to no avail.  Can anyone offer any further advice?

<EDIT> I should mention that I downloaded the AVCHD editions and ANH is v2.1

ORIGINAL STAR WARS TRILOGY OUT 09/2006 BY LUCASFILM
Time
Actually, I think there is a very good chance that the transfer they provide as a "bonus" feature will be utter garbage. There's that quote mentioned several times here about the quality being state of the art as of 1993. Well let's think about this for a minute:

1) Fact, GL regards the 2004 releases as canon.
2) Fact, these new releases are all about money.
3) Fact, the fan released LD transfers were painstakingly worked on by some very talented people.

I believe that the OT "bonus" tracks will definitely, perhaps purposefully, look very poor compared to the 2004 release tracks for two reasons:

1) GL wants it that way
2) They will not spend any money trying to get a good LD transfer.

So, my point is that we may already have better releases than what is coming from Lucasfilm in the fall.
