Well, maybe every second frame. There is a lot of junk that is hard-coded into the LDs. Even some video dropouts are hard-coded! It's not just your LD player...

I think that can be added as an item to Laserman's list:

- heavy duty rotoscoping of dust / scratches / blobs of colour / dropouts on master -- too numerous to specify individually.

laserman wants specified problems listed and i have noticed other "junk".

i don't know if this has been mentioned before. in star wars a new hope, about 5 minutes into the film when the stormtroopers are leading the captured rebels down the corridor there is a frame with a blue spot. what is the best way to get rid of this? photoshop grabbed frames and copy and paste the good section over the bad?

A MILLION THANK YOUS TO RIKTER for posting those covers!!!!!! i love them!! for me they are the best covers. very similar to the cards for the first line of kenner action figures. i thought the cover i was working on was good, it's nothing compared to those. i remember on ebay someone was selling the triology with those covers about 3 months ago. thanks once again Rikter.

Letterboxed Widescreen vs. Anamorphic Widescreen Discussion
Time
i'm in the middle of converting the faces LD set to 16:9. i'm using virtualdub for the enlarging. at the top and the bottom of the letterboxed image, a white line sometimes apears when there are bright colors present. i think it from the resize filter. how can i prevent this? should i use the Border control filter and cover it with the black region?
Thank You Moth3r for this post, i'm purchasing a Wega Widescreen 34" next month and your post convinced me about the 16:9 conversion was the way to go. on my standard wega(it has enhanced widescreen mode) i notice a difference with this anamorphic conversion.

star wars dv avi tremble
Time
the shaking, is it thru out the entire avi?
when converting to 16:9 (i just figured this out recently after 1.5 years) i use virtualdub, select the resize filter and with the filter loaded, select crop, and crop 60 from the top and 60 from the bottom. then configure the resize filter to the normal size of the video (for me it is 720x480). in the the box thats labeled filter mode you need to select either precise bicubic or Lanczos3 (this will prevent the interlacing artifacts you are seeing) these filters will help add lines to sharpen the enlarged video. what program are you using for editing?
