This may sound like a stupid question, but does the Despecialized audio work okay on your computer? (The reason I ask is, when I first downloaded 2.0, I had a bad copy.) Also, you mention that "the other PS3 audio works"—do you mean that you hear audio from other videos using PS3 Media Server, or are you talking about game audio, etc.? If you meant game audio, you might want to try playing another video just to see if it works.

The Despecialized audio works perfectly on my computer. Just doesn't seem to want to work through the PS3 into my TV.

And the other PS3 audio I was referring to is games and the clicks and ticks that the system makes when scrolling through various menus. I *think* I remember streaming video before to the TV, but I could be mistaken.

Subtitles are definitely not something I'm interested in, so a lot of what people have said about those have totally gone way over my head... and ideally I won't have to worry about it once I see if the PS3 Media Server is updated to the latest version. I didn't want to have to re-encode anyway, so it's heartening to see that if everything goes as planned, I won't have to.

Again, thanks everyone for your continued input and when I get home in 20 mins I'll let you know what worked/didn't work.

I will try what you just suggested when I get home. I tried re-encoding but for whatever reason xvid4psp hung at 99% for 22 hours.

And I am using PS3 Media Server to stream. I'll double check to make sure I have the latest version, as I installed it a while ago and don't know that I've updated it.

That could be the problem. I don't think my machine at home is underpowered... as I'm using my PC to act as a server, and my PC is a rather robust build.

If I'm reading it correctly, if the PS3 streaming isn't working properly, then I need to use MKV2VOB? Or am I going to have to use that program regardless?

That is excellent advice you have given me and I greatly appreciate it. I'll be back to let you know how it turns out!!!

Thanks again!

Sorry to bother you experts with a novice question....

But I just found this and got super excited to watch it... so now that I'm trying to stream the file to my PS3, I'm not getting any audio. Video yes, audio no. All the other PS3 audio works, so I know it's just the mkv causing the problem.

Not only did I use Google to look for a solution, but I also used the search bar for these forums and it didn't find "stream" or "ps3" when I searched for it, so I apologize in advance if I'm asking a question that has been answered ad nauseum.
