Modern technology making us stupid and antisocial is a bunch of bologne.
Time
with windows 98 being the first operating system to incorporate the internet
No. UNIX? BSD? Linux?
Schools and colleges are becoming inefficient in today’s world. A lot of them are still using ciriclcum books which have outdated data and classes want us to hand in all these stupid papers which just makes a mess and get easily unorganized. So many people these days are coming out of schools with degrees but not the skills necessary to do the job well in today’s society.

Please suggest an educational system adequate for today's world.

- able to bitset DVD-R's as DVD-ROM

DVD-R's booktype can't be changed. Only in +R media.
I have a NEC 3500 which burns dual layer, it's region free patchable and allow to bitset DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD+R-DL to DVD-ROM. And it burns fine. There's a newer version, the 3540. Pioneers are also a good choice. For more info about other burners check the cdfreaks forums.

This is a very good method indeed, the best I know.

For Linux users, pgcedit is also available (it's GPL). But you can't burn the disc as in the guide. Once pgcedit creates the iso and tells you where the layer break sector is:
growisofs -Z /dev/hda=/home/user/image.iso -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -use-the-force-luke=break:1868912 -dvd-compat -speed=2.4

In this example 1868912 is the layer break sector. Substitute it with yours.
Also in this case /dev/hda is the DVD writer device.

BTW, looking at the command it seems the growisofs programmer is a SW fan

Blade Runner HDTV (Released)
Time

FYI:
I've been working on logo removal with Adobe After Effects. That logo can be removed, and I am going to apply the removal to this great presentation of the film. It’s a kind of blending of the background / foreground images that hides the logo from the naked eye.

FF

You're right. What I meant is it's not a simple image cut. If SShaw was removed from ROTJ... sure this can be done.
Once you remove it, are you putting the vob file somewhere? I don't mind very much about the logo, but better without it
BTW, this release is amazing.

Not 100% logo-free but... who minds. I don't.

Is the logo over the screen or can it be removed? If one really wanted to, I suppose another showing of Blader runner on that channel could be taped and perhaps the logo would appear on a ddiferent part.

The print looks amazing by the way.

I don't think it can be removed.

Help: looking for... OOT or 97SE spanish audio track
Time

Hi,

Does anyone have the spanish audio track of the OOT or 97SE?
I grew up watching the OOT VHS tapes in spanish, so this would be very nice. The tapes are in bad condition, therefore I would like to make DVDs adding the spanish audio track to an existing video transfer.
Some people of my family can’t speak English, so when we watch dvd movies together, unfortunately Star Wars is never an option. This is unacceptable 😃

If you have the spanish OOT track, perfect. OOT is my first choice.
If you have the 97SE one, it’s ok too. I can live with most of the 97SE changes.

Thank you in advance!

2) 2 out of a shitload of DVD's have the problem (unlikely)
3) This guys setup is out of whack.

OK, I've some made more tests:

Computer 1:

Laptop (so LCD screen), ATI card, WinXP.
Software: PowerDVD, vlc.

Computer 2:

Desktop, CRT screen, NVIDIA card, Gentoo GNU/Linux.
Software: xine, mplayer, vlc.

In all the cases I can see the line.

Ep. III DVD - Purple vertical line?
Time
Hi:

I have the Episode III PAL original DVD, and there's something annoying about it: there's a vertical line in the left side of the image during the entire film.
Sometimes it's harder to see, but it's there.
In Mustafar it's more clear and the line is purple.

Example1
Detail1

I've resized the image to see it more clear.
I've checked this in my brother's disc and the line is there too.

Is this normal??

Same here. Still, I'm kind of glad. The Throne room music belongs in the Throne room. It didn't sound right.

Independently that you may think it's not appropiate, I think it's a privilege to hear to that wonderful theme in a good cinema with a good audio system.

I didn't post that... lol

Oops, sorry bad_karma24... Klingon_Jedi posted that.

Hi,

It's normal. They'll often record extra music that doesn't make it into the final cut of the film for length reasons. Think of it as a deleted scene, only music.

Well, in the other 5 soundtracks and the final track is the same as in the movie, or at least 99% the same. But in ROTS a whole theme was deleted!

The Thone Room music in Episode III's end titles
Time
Hi,

I enjoyed Episode III a lot, but there's something that disappointed me: I heard the soundtrack many times, and one of my favourite tracks is the last, with Episode IV's The Thone Room music. But in the cinema there was not Throne Room! wth? After Battle of the Heros it continued with the final music. Was that my theather's fault or is it normal?
