Thanks for all your support guys š
Hereās the dealā¦
I currently live on Brazil, and if you are informed of world news, you probably know that weāre not in a good economical shape. Our economy is going down the toilet along with millions of jobs.
When i started this project i was unemployed, so it seemed a good thing to keep me occupied. Along the end November and the start of December, i got an internship on the local Tv broadcast, witch is not a big deal, but it is a start. Now thinking about it, that internship was brutal, damn i even slept the whole night there once⦠anyway, this internship think was over by the end of December, then i finally got the job. I do some After Fx, camera positioning and some on set stuff, and iām getting paid for, witch is amazing, since i dont have a degree in any of this (cinema/ special fx).
So thats why i canāt work on the requests any longer, i work with a computer almost the whole day, and i canāt come home to do the exact same thingā¦
I know⦠iām an ass⦠iām disappointing a lot of people and i know it⦠sorry, iām really sorry!
The point is, i wanted to work on requests⦠but i just dont have the time and energy enought to do itā¦
Again, iām sorry!
But hey, if you stop to thing about it, its only a matter of time till i get fired, and when it happens, iāll get back to working on the requests! (no this isnāt a joke, things are really this bad)
If anyone else wants to pick up the torch and continue, youāre free to use this topic!
Sorry for not updating in a while⦠iām in a middle of huge opportunity and trying to close the deal, so itās been quite complicated to arrange time to work on the requests⦠iāll post an update of the situation in the futureā¦
I will only be posting a quick update on January, you guys can still request, but i wonāt be answering any time soon⦠sorry!
so espn is having a special on the Lightsaber and included in the trailer is a brief shot of Luke and Vader fighting (behind the scenes shot without rotoscoped sabers) - wanted to know if you can add sabers to this brief shot for my ROTJ edit.
1:08 mark to the 1:10 mark
Iām already doing a lightsaber related project⦠iāll do yours when i finishā¦
Iām still downloading Enderās collection, and the only thing i could do today were some color correction tests on the Bunker scene, and its looking pretty good š
Any progress on rotoscoping Dookuās saber?
Its very slow⦠iām still on EpII, Anakin is already in the fight.
Dear Hundorsfex,
I have a special effects challenge to toss into your pipeline, but be sure to come to this after everything else youāve got going on because I suspect it will be difficult and probably very time consuming.
My request to shop Coruscant or Endor inside the Death Star IIās super structure (so as to be visible through the gaps in the construction, and remove the weapon dish from it, to resemble something like this:
- Ignore the moon in the bottom left corner and the internal energy effects
Iām undecided yet if Iād want Endor removed from the frame as well any time they share it, but nonetheless, this is an idea Iāve had stewing for a while, to turn the recycled Death Star threat of ROTJ into a new giant planetary fortification for my own drastic retelling of ROTJ.
The remastered Bunker scene you are working on will be a great addition as well to my story line. If only I were better at special effects myself, alas Iām learning slowly.Thank you for your time, and donāt worry if you cannot get around to this for a long time yet!
You mean something like Telos?

A planet underneath the Death Star?
Have you tired to make a master clean plate and assemble picture information that is available from the other 443 frames? If an object is completely cover up by an actor you could use the clone brush and give it a middle of the road object⦠You would have to roto out all the actors to achieve this master plate though. Then fill in there missing information on the frame with the cloned back ground information⦠The trick will be to find a frame that has the video information your looking for to clone, and then assemble it. You would have to roto out all of the actors on every frame though to re-supplement them on top of the clean frame plate.
Another trick I used for the other saber shots, was the old āCC wire removal toolā This actually warped the original saber and inverted it to make it a lot thinner. I was then able to roto the new saber with great results. This allowed me to recreate a new light saber effect without it looking too thick. The only trade off is that sometimes if will give a warping effect on the background, which can be minimized thru the settings at a key frame level. But it is a well worth trade off.
Below is a sample

Itās a lot of work I know, thatās why I donāt have the time to do it⦠:{
Yeah, time is really an issue. Iāll be trying your idea next week, this weekend i have to make a huge download.
General consensus seems to be that the speeder effect shot is ready. Thanks!
Iāll send you monday š
It seems that the bunker scene has won, can someone send a good clip?
This weekend iāll be downloading Darth Enderās project, which contains all the deleted scenes i need. So this weekend i will not be able to use my computer. You see, my computer isnāt that good, so when iām using AfterFx, i cant use nothing else or everything will freeze.
From day 16/12 to 20/12 iāll not be working too, you guys can guess why.
Long story short, from now on, things will a little slower, but dont worry, iāll still be working, just be patient š
I know no one requested this, but i wanted to try out. The prequels dont have the āHyperspace Light Tubeā effect on any scene, and i want to add it. But first i need to get the effect right, so hereās the first rough test:
http://hundsdorfer.deviantart.com/art/Lightspeed-test-1-575734011?ga_submit_new=10%3A1449068868
I have began adding textures to Death Star 3d model, and i discovered something really interesting⦠there are no good textures, seriously, go search on google, the texture is too small to properly fit on a huge model like the Death Star. So now i have to rebuild the texture⦠but dont worry, it will look good in the end.
Some fracturing tests have also been made, is looking pretty good š
Iām loving the idea of the Greveious hologram and think your work looks fantastic. The only suggestion I would make is could you add a slight flicker to it. Kinda like the holograms have in the original trilogy just to make it look a little less clean?
Sure š
will the deleted scenes be color corrected, clean up,spfx, sound and with music?
Color correct:
Depending on the scenes quality, yes!
Clean up:
Hereās the deal, iāll do a version using the original video, but, if there is enough interest, i can try to clean up the shot myself. Just keep in mind that i would clean up the shot mannualy, and this takes a lot of time.
Spfx:
Yes!
Sound:
Yes, and sound cleaning too!
Music:
Yes!
Quick Update 7
hundsdorfex I canāt find that deleted scene collection by darth ender you posted. Is it on my spleen? If so how did you find it? Thanks
He sent me a torrent, but it was super slow. So i requested he upload it to mega, now iām waiting for a response š
Hereās a quick video of the Grievous Hologram and the Death Star 2D explosion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQmcb9sznTQ&feature=youtu.be
Grievous Hologram still has a lot of speed and size issues, but its a good example of how it will look in the end.
Death Star 2d explosion was changed according to suggestions, what do you guys think?
Regarding xxtelecine 7xx work:
I stumbled on a huge rock.
To remove the saber from the scene, i was rotoscoping an individual clean frame and pasting it over a ānon cleanā frame. This worked well for the first frames (except for the head).
The problem is, i cant use this process in other frames, because Ben moves, and this means that his shadow also moves. By the process iām using, the shadow in lukeās body doesnāt move, and it only reappears on a non edited frame. And, if this wasnāt enough, the movement doesnāt look natural at all.
Long story short, wrong ridiculous shadow and unnatural movement. Now i need another process to restart all my work. Does anyone has any idea how to pull this off?
Regarding deleted scenes:
Iāve been thinking a lot about this, and iāve made a decision.
Remastering deleted scenes is hard, in some cases, a complete reconstruction of the scene has to be made.
By those reasons, iāll only remaster one scene by time. This way, i can still work on other requests.
So to start, iāll let you guys vote in one of the following scenes:
You guys have till 12/02 to vote. The winner scene will be announced day 3.
I still havenāt got the download i need, so if someone can send me the winner on day 3, this would help a lot š
Regarding Frinkās speeder scene:
What do you think?
Anything that you want to change? fix?
You think the scene is good to go?
Note regardind deleted scenes:
A lot o of people want me do restore/remaster deleted scenes, and iāll do it, but has i said before, i only downloaded the movies.
And you guys were cool, sending a lot of links to get collections of deleted content and so forth.
The problem is, my internet is really slow, and most of the download sites dont let you download at top speed.
Iām currently now download this:
http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Deleted-altered-and-alternate-material-project/id/14931
This contains most (if not all) of the content i need to do my work, but, the download is slow.
So for now, if you want a deleted scene edited or remastered, please, pm me a direct link to download the scene.
Regarding today:
I honestly tought today i would have some time to work on the requests, i was wrong!
Iām sorry!
I hope no oneās mad at me, if i only had more time i would work, but life is catching up with me.
My request:
Iāve been maintaining a list of requests, but its not being effective and its completly outdated. Can someone make a list of the requests made so far, or tell me how to keep an effective log of all requests?
Honestly, i didnāt expected so much requests, and i didnāt had a plan on how to keep track of them all. Any help would be appreciated š
Quick Update 6
This shot might have to wait until a 16mm print of the documentary shows up, or all the docs finally get shiny new digital video transfers.
I tryed to āenhanceā the shot but⦠no luck!
Hereās the latest Frinkās speeder test:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc4pHvFZr7E&feature=youtu.be
It is basicaly done, does anyone has any suggestion on how to improve?
I did some more work on the 2d Death Star Explosion. Now iām making an alternative version with this explosion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcX2jHB0sCY
I tryed to add color to one of the black and white clips, and i found out something really interesting, this is really, really, REALLY hard. It seems pretty simple, but to get the color to look natural is the tricky thing to do. Iām still testing, eventually iāll stumble on a solution.
Rendered one more angle of Grievous to use on EpII.
This is a very slow day, iāll get more things done by tomorrow.
and i like the speeder chase scene From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga breaking the troopers neck
at 42:43
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9TM3H6-BioThis is actually really cool. Hopefully this can be used, especially since it conveniently has the blue screen intact.
Not sure if low quality video, fits with HD video:
http://hundsdorfer.deviantart.com/art/Test-574782604?ga_submit_new=10%3A1448651111
What do you guys think?
pm sent. Or private topic as its now called.
I didnāt received nothing!
Edit:
Ahh now i got it š
as far as suggestions go, I would have to agree with darth_ender. finishing off some of the deleted scenes would be a great resource to this community. I personally would work on some of the PT deleted scenes, especially those found in ATOC. It seems to me that many editors here use the deleted scenes from ATOC more often than not and the Obi-Wan and Mace Windu scene, though has most of the CG work done looks a bit off when they are talking on the landing. the background doesnt seem to really fit with the real life actors very well. if there was someway to make it look better, or even redo the Coruscant background all together that would be great.
Yeah, iāll definitely do it, just be patient, i got a lot going on right now!
also is there any way you could send me the āFloating/spinning Grievousā just by itself. I may use it for my own edit. Unless you have added Grievous to the rest of that scene, ie dooku opening up the hologram.
Iām still adding Grievous to all other scenes, unless you have a deadline to deliver your project, i think would be worth the wait š
This week things with life are really killing my time, sorry for not being able to keep upā¦
also would it be possible to do a shot of dookuās ship approaching geonosis.
Sure š
As i said, this weak things with life are killing my time, by the weekend iāll be able to do more work, sorryā¦
can you fill the black and white scenes from star wars with color?..cantina scene, rancor, yedi trainig, deathstar, pilots, han and lando, and so farā¦
Forgive my ignorance but⦠what do you mean?
Probably the first two minutes of this, for example
Ok, iāll try out!

Quick Update 5
With the planet Sullust finally now revealed, it would be nice to see the Rebel fleet actually amassed around it, as Vader says.
Hereās a little test i did on my spare time:
http://hundsdorfer.deviantart.com/art/Sullust-Fleet-574124473?q=gallery%3Ahundsdorfer%2F54811902&qo=1
The Speeder on frinkās scene has been speeded up a litle bit more and probe droids has been added:
http://hundsdorfer.deviantart.com/art/Frink-s-Speeder-Test-2-574124626
The first (rough) rotoscoping test of the Luke and Biggs scene:
http://hundsdorfer.deviantart.com/art/Luke-and-Biggs-574104120
Iām still working on xxtelecine 7xx idea.
Didnāt had time to cut Dookuās lightsaber (sorry).
Did some more work on Grievous hologram (EpII), the Death Star has been already removed from all the shots.
Death Star 2d explosion has been changed according to suggestions, still needs some fixes, but it will get done soon.
Death Star 3d explosion has began modeling.
I would love to get a shot of Luke force grabbing his Saber from Lando at the sarlacc pit not from R2.
This is a hard thing to do, since Lando doesnāt appear much until the fight starts.
marduk666 said:
Second since I saw your awsome hologram work I would love a shot of padme watching a ādoctoredā version of security footage of Mace windu attacking palpatine. Like a propaganda news story.
This is totally doable, still not sure exactly how iāll do this thoā¦
My request would be simply that you finish the effects in several of the released deleted scenes. For instance, the scene where Luke speeds past the old lady on the way to Tosche Station, Luke training on Dagobah, Jerjerrod watching the Death Star II turn upon Endor on the viewscreen, etc. Such would be invaluable for sure. Even if the scene itself has scratches all over, itād be neat to see the finished effects. Admittedly, the ANH scene with the old lady interests me for the sake of Ryan McAvoyās Lost Workprint edit.
I would prioritize ROTJ & PT over ESB & ANH, but yeah.
Since it seems to be in everyoneās interest a remaster of the deleted scenes⦠can someone send them ALL my way? or at least point me a way to get them in good quality?
As i said, i only downloaded the movies, and finding the deleted scenes in good quality is hard (youtube compression is not good).
Thanks in advance!
Maybe just way off in the background?
Ok, iāll do it š
Star Wars Battle pod footage
This is really rough, even video game wise.
Dude, thatās fantastic!
Thanks a lot! Some tweaks here and there and its good to go š
Thatās amazing! I think if you can speed it up just a bit more, youāll nail it. š
Is there any way to ādirty downā the CG model? Maulās speeder has been running amok for a decade at this point. Iāll presume the probe droids still chasing it in ATOR finally died. š
https://vimeo.com/38142301Also, referring to Bob Garciaās original test, I think if you put in a little hint of a dust cloud on the horizon at 36 seconds, that sells it even more.
https://vimeo.com/59467505
Yeah it definitely needs some more speed!
Havenāt tought about adding dirt⦠great idea, iāll have to mess around with some textures, but is totally possible!
I havenāt added the probe droids, since the speeder is flying towards camera, i tought adding probe droids would āpolluteā too much the image, but, if Frink wants, i can add them!
Iāll add the dust cloud, thanks for the tip!
Hereās the first 3d rough test of Frinkās speeder:
https://youtu.be/TQkWIpvGvVw
Dude, the Grievous hologram looks absolutely great. Iām surprised how quickly you did it! Seriously, if you need an editing partner in crime let me know. I feel like we all could make some pretty cool stuff.
Thanks! Iāll considerate š
One thought Iāve had regarding the speeder shot. Get a hold of the Sith Speeder toy made for the 12 inch Darth Maul, and shoot it front of a greenscreen? Unless the smaller scale toy would work?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Star-Wars-Darth-Maul-Sith-Speeder-/141822455551
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Darth-Maul-Sith-Speeder-Stealth-Bike-21-/310266084690
The problem isnāt with the picture it self. Currently iām using this picture:
http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080409150116/starwars/images/0/08/FC-20_frontback.jpg
Then i color correct it, to fit the the light and climate of the original shot (work in progress):
http://hundsdorfer.deviantart.com/art/Speeder-Test-573373132?ga_submit_new=10%3A1448073561&ga_type=edit&ga_changes=1&ga_recent=1
It doesāt look that bad, visually is totally fixable. The problem is movement!
I tryed to do some animations, but the movement didnāt look natural. The problem is, weāre moving a 2d image on a 3d image, and that is a tricky thing to do.
So now iām trying to use this:
http://www.scifi3d.com/details.asp?intGenreID=10&intCatID=8&key=172
Hopefully we can get some good results š
Quick Update 4
Hereās the first test of Grievous as an Hologram in Episode 2:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KOX-9sy3CM
This model was use to do the animation:
http://animium.com/2008/07/general-grievous
So what do you guys think?
Frink speeder idea is getting really hard to do, every test i did looked like crap⦠but not to worry, i still havenāt tryed everything!
Thanks to littlev87 for sending me some cleaned up clips of the Luke and Biggs scene. Iām still not sure on how to properly edit that scene to feel ānaturalā, but iāll figure something out.
SuperSecretMuffin, you still need to send me the clips you want edited, since youāre using 7xxās version as a basis.
Also, if someone could send an HD rip of the deleted scenes, especially both Shaak Tiās deaths, this would be pretty helpfull. Remember, i only downloaded the films, i dont have good quality versions of the deleted scenes!
Iām still cutting Dookuās saber. Sorry for taking so long, its just that this is one of the most time consuming things i have to do, and i still have to work on more requests⦠so⦠iām sorry but this will take more time.
