The Clone Wars Arc Edits [OPINIONS NEEDED] (a WIP)

Brilliant. I will upload them to Google Drive then upload the complete package to Spleen when it’s all completed.

To answer some questions:

o Yes they will be in MP4
o They will be from 700mb to 1GB per episode (roughly)
o I have considered the ‘Long time ago…’ card however they are only really used for the movies, I consider these more like longer episodes of the series.
o The credit score will play out just like the original show too.

I apologise that the more radical ideas aren’t being implimented in this series.

I just feel that if people universally like the show as a whole, nothing much should change. Whereas if more radical changes are implemented, it begins to appeal to a slimmer audience, if that makes sense 😉

I just want to say that I for one is very glad that you don’t change anything radically since I like the show the way it is.

Idea: Non film/tv edits? (any interest in a Dark Disciple audiobook?)
Time

Here is most of the concept art at least: https://imgur.com/a/qlQPQ. Some of the concept art is taken from panels and some of them were uploaded to the Star Wars website at some point.

The episodes that are about 2h could probably be split into two parts, that way most of the episodes will be about an hour long.

Edit: There are also clips from the animatics (of the first arc) available. Check the video called “Unfinished Clone Wars Scenes and episodes” on youtube.

I missed the Krim cameo in SoM, if that’s the case it should be:

Dark Disciple
Son of Dathomir
Utapau
Ahsoka’s Walkabout
Saving Vos
Bad Batch
Siege of Mandalore

Making Dark Disciple the second to last arc of Season 6 as originally intended, with SoD as the season finale.

I think that works. It gives some time to pass between the two Dark Disciple arcs as well. Marg Krim appeared as a hologram with the other syndicate leaders in the previous episode.

Ah, that makes sense.

I’ve split the episodes, and the runtimes are all over the place, from 40 minutes to two hours, which I’m not thrilled about. But unless I split them even more, so that some if the eps are in parts, idk what to do about it.

I figured that would be a problem. I’m guessing the Saving Vos parts are some of the shorter episodes. Since the scripts (and concept art) were completed for the first four episodes but not the second set of four episodes (where only sketches and a first draft of the scripts were completed), the first four episodes are longer in the book in general. I think it would be interesting to listen to the episodes as they were intended to be split regardless of length, but I agree that it is a bit of a problem that the length varies so much. The only way I can think of that would shorten the run time is to take the longer episodes and divide them in two, calling them Conspirators part 1 and Conspirators part 2 for example. Having thought about it for a couple of minutes, this might actually be a good solution.

What are the rough run times for the different parts?

Except doesn’t Maug Krim die in Dark Disciple, meaning all of it would have to happen after Ahsoka’s Walkabout?

I’ve been operating on the assumption that it must now be

Season 6
Son of Dathomir(Kenobi still in his season 6 outfit)
Utapau
Ahsoka’s Walkabout
Dark Disciple
Saving Vos
Bad Batch
Siege of Mandalore

I just hate that Dark Disciple & Saving Vos take place over a long time, but there isn’t anything (other than the Kanan comics I guess) to fill in.

I think that’s implied but not necessarily confirmed, besides Krim has a cameo in Siege of Mandalore so it doesn’t really matter. Regarding Kenobi’s outfit, that’s really just an art mistake. Originally, Vos was going to appear as Dooku’s henchman in Son of Dathomir, so it is definitely supposed to take place between Dark Disciple and Saving Vos. However, I don’t think there is anything in particular besides this that actually forces this timeline placement.

Edit: Regarding the art error, Crystal Crisis has production codes 6.01-6.04 and Son of Dathomir has 6.21-6.24. Therefore, the new models created for Obi-Wan and Grievous for the Crystal Crisis arc would have been used for the Son of Dathomir episodes but the artist was probably unaware of this.

Thanks, that actually is a big help. I’m frustrated that even split in 8 we’ll have still have really long episodes.

The other thing I’m trying to figure out is where to place these episodes.

Season 7’s final version of Bad Batch and Ahsoka’s Walkabout really screwed the chronology, since I’m pretty sure all of Dark Disciple now has to take place after Ashoka’s Arc, but before Bad Batch…

According to the original scripts it would have been:
Ahsoka’s Walkabout, Bad Batch, Dark Disciple, Kashyyyk, Son of Dathomir, Rex/R2 arc, Saving Vos and then the rest of S8.

However, since Maul appears in Ahsoka’s Walkabout, the new timeline is probably: S6, Utapau, Dark Disciple, Son of Dathomir, Saving Vos, Ahsoka’s Walkabout, Bad Batch, Siege of Mandalore.

I like this idea! In case you wonder where to cut the episodes, I think it should be something like this:

Lethal Alliance, chapters 1-8
The Mission, 9-12
Conspirators, 13-21
Dark Disciple, 22-25

Saving Vos Part 1, 26-28
Saving Vos Part 2, 29-30
Traitor, 31-37
The Path, 38-42

Note that the first rescue attempt has to be in the first set of episodes since there are animatics of it and no animatics where made for the final production season where the second set of episodes are from. Concept art also helps with nailing down the first four episodes.

Yeah I just saw that episode! It was an interesting presentation style.

I’ll play around as I go.

But the question is: Do we still want the the narrator over the text?

You would probably have to try both and see what works best. The narration is a familiar part of TCW so it will probably feel natural to use it, but if the episodes should feel more like movies, text without narration will probably work quite well. I’m guessing the intro will feel more serious without the narration as well, but I’m not sure.

This is a throw-together of the intro:
This uses my idea of having the narration alongside the SOLO opening text.

I would be interested in updates. I like this idea since we can skip the visuals of the intro but still keep the original spirit and music of the intro. The indentation looks a bit weird though, I think Solo uses centered text instead. Maybe you could try having more text on some of the slides to reduce the number of transitions?

I loved the movie, just loved it. One thing I might change is the dialogue between the director and Vader on Mustafar. I would simply cut vader’s line about chocking on one’s ambitions, (he’s a sith for Chrissakes! Ambition is all he knows.)

I hated that line because Darth Vader does not use one-liners. But I don’t understand your point about him being a Sith.

And I hate the idea of putting anything more from ROTS in.

Well “Apology accepted Captain Needa” is kind of a one-liner.
