Reading the recent articles about Rian Johnson originally considering Billy Dee Williams for DJ’s role, I had an epiphany: swap out the Master Codebreaker for a Lando Calrissian cameo. I know that would be a tall order for a fan edit, but literally nothing else would have to change:
- Maz could know Lando from her past with Han, and never mentions the MCB by name.
- Poe, Finn, and Rose would likely have no idea who Lando was, by name or by appearance.
- Leia is not present to fill in any of those gaps.
- Even the MCB’s only line, “Not now, lovely, I’m on a roll,” would absolutely work for Billy Dee Williams.
Just spit-balling, but I thought I’d share. 😃
