Is there a GOT for people doing NoFap?
Time

Hi Darth_Zounds,

I made a Game of Thrones edit about half a year ago with most of the sex and nudity edited out, though not all of it. I wanted to get rid of all the sex and nudity that wasn’t that important to the overall narrative. This means a few of them are left in, but only when it would make the narrative confusing to a first-time viewer to take them out. I’ve done a few other things too with the edit, editing the whole series into 30 feature-length movies.

You can find the thread for my edit here, give me a PM if you’re interested in it:

REQUEST: Twin Peaks Season 2 - Cutting out the fluff.
Time

Hi there, I have an edit called “Twin Peaks, A Chronological Cut” which is an edit of Fire Walk with Me, S1, S2 and Twin Peaks: The Return. This cuts out a lot of the fluff in season 2, some of the slower parts of the return and then the worst bits of season 1 and fire walk with me. Drop me a PM if you want the edit, and I can let you know which parts encompass season 2.

Does Oberin still get his head decimated onscreen? Might not be for everyone, but I really appreciate the bombast and spectacle of that particular death scene.

Yep, that’s still on there - kept a lot of the gory stuff which serves a purpose within the story, like I wouldn’t take the Red Wedding out for example. It’s all the gratuitous stuff that’s gone (a lot of Theon’s torture scenes in S3, the rat torture scene in S2 etc.)

Twin Peaks: A Chronological Cut (Released)
Time

Hi 13las, thanks! Let me know via PM if you would like a link. I’ve not actually used any of Twin Peaks ‘the missing pieces’ because I felt a trimmed down version of series would best be from only the original series, the Return and Fire Walk with Me. If I wanted to make a sort of extended cut or full length chronological version, that material would be in there (a potential good idea for someone else!).

Hi dgraham414, I have taken out all the sex scenes and nudity that I found gratuitous in the series, however there are a few scenes I have kept in for story reasons. Overall in this edit there are probably about 4-5 sex scenes kept in (generally the more wholesome ones, apart from the Cersei/Jaime one in the first episode). Nudity is generally kept to a minimum but there isn’t none whatsoever. I would probably say the edits bring it down from a NC-17 to an R.

Thank you ArtisDead! Since August I’ve been working on the same sort of edit but with a chronological version of the Twin Peaks series. I’ve just finished it today and it’s all ready if any of you would like a link to it. If anyone has enjoyed my Game of Thrones edit, and would like to start watching Twin Peaks or happens to already be a fan of Twin Peaks this one is for you. Here is a link to the new topic I started for it:

Twin Peaks: A Chronological Cut (Released)
Time

Twin Peaks: A Chronological Cut was made as a different, more streamlined way to watch the entire Twin Peaks series (Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Twin Peaks Season 1+2 and Twin Peaks: The Return). I have taken all of Twin Peaks, trimmed it down and edited it into 18 different feature length “chapters”, between 1:34 - 2:03, all of which have an overarching theme, which I have given in the title of the chapter. What I have done with these chapters is give a chronological depiction of the Twin Peaks story. Season 1 + 2 are left generally in the same order, however Fire Walk with me is now before the main series, and The Return has been rearranged a whole lot, with events of ‘Part 8’ now at the very start.

The main things taken out of the new edit are the meandering subplots of season 2 (James & Evelyn, Nadine, John Justice Wheeler, Dick Tremayne etc.), some of the slow, and arduous parts of the Return, and much of the Laura storyline in Fire Walk With Me (I have only kept the Teresa Banks case part, and the final scenes of the movie). Roughly 25% of the series has been taken out. This is mainly the last half of season 2, the middle of Fire Walk with Me and the middle of The Return, however some parts of season 1 and the first half of season 2 have been taken out too (mainly the James, Harold and Nadine parts).

I would recommend watching this if you:
Have seen Twin Peaks and you want to re-watch it, but you don’t like the idea of reliving all the stupidity of Season 2, and sitting through those bits in the Return where it feels like nothing is happening. You also like the idea of being able to watch it all in chronological order, especially seeing how the Return plays out in order.
Have never seen Twin Peaks and like the weird style and mystery of it and want to see what all the fuss is about, but feel like you’ve heard it can be very boring and slow in parts, so you’d like to be able to watch it all but miss out all the worst aspects of it. You might like David Lynch’s films like Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive and you want to see Twin Peaks in a more cinematic fashion. If it is your first viewing, I would recommend watching chapters 2 to 11 first, then chapter 1, then 12 to 18. This is so the mystery of Laura’s palmer isn’t all revealed for you straight away. You could get away with watching chapter 1 after watching chapters 2 to 8 if you wish.

There are aspects of the series that made it difficult to edit, for example at the beginning of every episode of seasons 1 and 2 the credit text is shown on screen while the actual episode is playing out. This means some parts of chapters 2 - 11 have credit text on screen at points in the middle of the film. I apologize for this but I’m not good enough at editing to take these out, and I don’t want to get rid of important scenes because there is text on the screen. Also, with my previous Game of Thrones cut, I tended to end each chapter with a dramatic scene that ended an episode of the series, though with this one I haven’t done that as such, so sometimes it feels like it ends at unusual points. This is done intentionally, I have chosen to end at these points on purpose and it is keeping with the absurd style of the series. There are also parts of the last two episodes of The Return where they travel through to different time periods that are totally unknown, and travel back to the events of Laura’s death and afterwards. I have kept all these bits at the end because it serves as a fitting ending to the entire edit.

Here is an overview of the chapters:
Chapter 1: Creation – The Return (Part 8) + Fire Walk with Me (1:46)
Chapter 2: Mystery – Season 1 (1:55)
Chapter 3: Ideas – Season 1 (1:45)
Chapter 4: Rhythm – Season 1 (1:51)
Chapter 5: Questions – Season 2 (1:56)
Chapter 6: Two – Season 2 (1:41)
Chapter 7: Suffering – Season 2 (1:56)
Chapter 8: Revelations – Season 2 (2:03)
Chapter 9: Victims – Season 2 (1:50)
Chapter 10: Treasure – Season 2 (1:34)
Chapter 11: Reflection – Season 2 (1:48)
Chapter 12: Time – The Return (1:52)
Chapter 13: Memories – The Return (1:51)
Chapter 14: Bodies – The Return (1:42)
Chapter 15: Interrogation – The Return (2:01)
Chapter 16: Dreams – The Return (1:58)
Chapter 17: Fire – The Return (1:48)
Chapter 18: Judy – The Return (1:39)

There are three ways you can watch these chapters:

IN ORDER (Recommended for avid fans of the series, or for fans of the original series who weren’t as into the Return/never got round to watching it) - this way all the mystery of Laura Palmer’s death is revealed at the start, and you can watch it all knowing fully about what actually happened. This way you won’t let the mystery cloud your understanding of the larger forces at play in the series. However your enjoyment of chapters 2 to 8 might be a little stifled because so much of the intrigue of these chapters comes from wanting to find out what happened to Laura Palmer. Though watching the chapters in this order will definitely put you in a better frame of mind to enjoy the Return chapters.

CHAPTERS 2-11, CHAPTER 1, THEN CHAPTERS 12-18 (recommended for first-time viewers) – this way you are watching it the way it is intended to be viewed, and the order in which it was released. You don’t know the full story of Laura Palmer’s death until after watching season 2, and chapter 1 is a really strong set-up for the themes of chapters 12-18 (The Return). This way all the intrigue from the earlier chapters is still there, though it is still a much stronger, streamlined way of watching Twin Peaks as a series.

CHAPTERS 2-8, CHAPTER 1, THEN CHAPTERS 9-18 (for viewers of the original series, who got a little bored during season 2 and stopped watching) – this way as soon as the mystery of Laura Palmer’s killer is revealed, you can begin the larger story of Twin Peaks by watching chapter 1 before watching the rest of the Season 2 chapters. This way you can enjoy the first part of Twin Peaks the way it is meant to be enjoyed, and then see the rest of season 2 in a different light (bear in mind I have taken out all the worst parts of season 2 that might have bored you in the first place).

Please PM me for a link to the series, and please make sure you own a copy of the series yourself before asking to download!

Once you have watched the series, please give me feedback on it here.
So far I’ve had feedback about the hardcoded subtitles in chapters 26-30 and the low video/sound quality. In terms of the subtitles, I will be taking those out by the end of May, and I have decided I will be purchasing the blu-ray versions of all the seasons so I can do a HD version of the edits, which I predict will be ready by the end of July. In the meantime whilst people are happy to watch the SD version please let me know if there was anything you believe didn’t work well so I can make these amendments in the updated HD version.

Also let me know if there’s any other series you think this feature-length “chapter” format might work well with, I’m happy to make more! I was thinking of doing a Twin Peaks one, which includes material from the ‘Fire Walk with Me’ movie, the original series and the new ‘Return’ series, compiling it down to about 20 movies.

Thank you

Any update on the Twin Peaks edits?

Nope not even started on them yet. Currently getting all the Game of Thrones ones exported and ready in the folder, will start on it once I’ve finished. With the time it took for the Game of Thrones ones I wouldn’t expect it until at least next year. The Game of Thrones edit took me about 3 years to do!

The HD versions are finally here! I have uploaded Chapters 1 - 10 onto a google drive, please PM me for a link to this. I will be uploading all of them throughout the month, so by the 31st July you should have them all! They are now HD 720p, couldn’t manage to get them in 1080p because of the software I use, but it’s a whole lot better than the SD 480p the others were in. The sound quality has vastly improved too. Hope everyone enjoys the new HD versions, please let me know what you think of them!

Just an update:

I know I said I’d have versions without subtitles for the last few chapters by the end of May - and now that time has passed, unfortunately I don’t have these ready right now, but it is because I’ve been working through all the seasons to create a HD version of all the chapters. In this new HD version I will be amending any errors I made in the original movies, including the subtitles in the last few chapters. This will still be done by the end of July, and I will be uploading each chapter as I go along. I’ll keep you all updated about it via PM. Thank you everyone for enjoying the original movies despite the quality! I just thought it was pointless to amend the subtitles but keep it low quality, and then go back to it again when I make it HD. At the moment I’m just cutting all the footage, and in a couple of weeks I’ll be compiling it into the chapters, and once that happens you will see me uploading a new movie every 1-2 days!

Compressing without losing quality
Time

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering, i’ve been exporting a few of my projects, each the length of a movie, in HD quality and i’ve found that the file size they’re coming out as is massive, about 8GB. These are plain MP4 files.
Is there any way of making the file size smaller without losing the video/sound quality? I’m making 30 of these videos and I only have the free versions of MEGA, and Google Drive and I can only use about 30GB. I’ve compressed them down before to about 600MB each but it totally ruined the sound and video quality.

Thanks,

Hi MoviesGamesMusic

I have sent you a PM, this version of GOT should be a good one to watch with the stepson - it’s a little bit more family-friendly! Though I’ll warn you - I haven’t cut out all the sex/nudity, just the gratuitous bits! So for example, you can expect the tower scene at the end of S1E1 and the very last scene of Season 1 to still be in there.

HBO's Game of Thrones - Fan Edit Ideas
Time

I’ve just recently made a Game of Thrones fan edit called ‘An Honorable cut’, in this I’ve streamlined a lot of the narratives and trimmed the whole series down by about 25%, it’s really for someone who wants to rewatch Game of Thrones in a different way, missing out all the worst parts. I’ve made a topic about it on these forums called “Game of Thrones: An Honorable Cut”, if you’re interested give me a message! I’m new on these forums, I’ve been working on this fan edit for a number of years now and only realised there was a whole community for these kinds of videos.

Game of Thrones: An Honorable Cut (Released)
Time

Hi everyone

Game of Thrones: An Honorable Cut was made as an alternative way of watching the Game
of Thrones series with all the gratuitous sex, nudity, torture, weak and boring storylines, and overall cheapness taken out. Please message me to download!

I have taken all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones and edited it down into 30 “chapters”, each the length of a feature length movie, ranging from 1:30 to 2:14 hours. Each “chapter” focuses on the stories of a select few characters, with an overarching theme given in the title of the chapter. I have made sure to tell the story in a linear fashion and keep everything that is best about the series in. This does not mean I’ve taken out all sex, nudity and violence, because sometimes it is justifiable to keep the story going, and sometimes it has a strong dramatic effect. I have mainly taken it out when it cheapens the effect, or makes for weak storytelling.

Overall I have cut the series down from 4214 minutes to 3151 minutes, roughly trimmed it by about 25%.

I’d recommend watching this if you’ve either:
Seen the Game of Thrones series and you want to rewatch it, but don’t want to relive all the cheap, ridiculousness and silly plot points of seasons 6-8 and all the gratuitous sex, torture and nudity of seasons 1-5, or you basically want to get through it quicker, without having to watch through all the boring bits.
Haven’t seen the Game of Thrones series, and you’re into fantasy series’ like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, but you’re put off by some of the criticism that the show has had about sexual violence/rape scenes and poor writing towards the end. This new edit can’t undo some of the bad writing of seasons 7 - 8. The reason why these seasons weren’t as good was mainly down to too much happening to quickly, and it is impossible to fix that through cutting, I have instead kept all the strongest material from these seasons that keeps the story going, and taken out all the extra bits.

Please PM me for a download link.

Here is an overview of the chapters:
Chapter 1: Truth - Season 1 (1:42)
Chapter 2: Danger - Season 1 (1:39)
Chapter 3: Cripples - Season 1 (1:36)
Chapter 4: Mercy - Season 1 + 2 (1:52)
Chapter 5: Ashes - Season 1 + 2 (2:10)
