I was hoping someone could help me with exactly that - what settings to use to get pass-through.
But it is a hardware issue as well, because you can’t get lossless 5.1/7.1 through toslink.

Harmy - this is the reason that most audiophile home theater guys break up their systems into separate the receiver/amps and speakers. When it’s an all in one system - it’s very hard to modify/upgrade and “future proof”. Looking at the manual for the device, don’t see any way for you to get your lossless sound from your computer into this system as there isn’t input that can handle it. I think you are stuck needing to buy a dedicated receiver with more inputs. Then comes the fun part of trying to decide if you want to reuse the speakers that are wired for this system or getting new ones. In my honest opinion - I’d sell/dump this system and get a dedicated receiver with new speakers/sub.

I’m with DeadPirateJosh - Denon’s intro receivers are very good for the $. I love the sound of the Harmon Kardons but frankly I had markedly less audio issues with the Denon and PS3/BD connectivity. I’ve been running a Denon 1909 now for what 6+ years and I haven’t looked back…yet.

I agree. You could still (re)use your current system as a standalone blu-ray player, and/or connect your actual speakers to the new AV amplifier, but I think that a new set of good quality (and not necessarily expensive) speakers should be a better option.

Checksums of the video files will be placed only on first post description or also on NFO files?

Harmy said:

I will include them in the NFOs.

Bravo!
A milestone for fuckwit fighters

Well, one can edit the NFO files… the first forum post is a safer place for checksums.

Out of curiosity, is there any disadvantage in creating checksums for all the files in the release, and placing them in a separated checksum file?

How about this link?

Are you guys seeing the empty album there?

If anyone wants to reupload this anywhere, please PM me first and I’ll give you fixed NFO files.
Meanwhile, I will also re-upload versions with fixed NFOs to uloz but keep these current links live for a while, so you don’t need to worry if you’re already downloading.
If you find any other problems with the NFOs, now’s the time!!!

Yeah I can see it.

I can see the empty album, with both Firefox and Chrome.

Maybe your USB drive filesystem is FAT32? If so, you won’t be able to copy any file greater than 4GB on it.

Aargh! I’m sorry, I missed two full pages of this thread… And I was also wondering “why no one wrote here since january 4?”…

No kidding, I’m glad when people explain things in detail!
I’m also glad to have found the Despecialized Editions… thank you all for your hard work. I remember my disappointment the first time I watched ROTJ on DVD, and saw “the ghost of Hayden Christensen” at the end…

A final note: I’ve managed to automatically select the Italian audio track and Italian forced subs on BD playback. Wonderful!

Wow! Thank you for this great explanation. In my plans, my next post could have been something like “Is there a despecialized version of the films without embedded subtitles, floating around? I’m very happy with subs in Arial 36 white, placed on the black bar under the picture!”.
…but now I lack the courage to ask… 😉

More seriously, I’m happy with “basic” SRT subtitles only because it’s OK for me to place them on the black bars of my 16:9 TV, out of the picture. I agree with you that overlapping the subtitles is a no-no, if subtitles have to stay in the picture area. I also agree that seamless branching should be the best option, to mantain the authenticity of theatrical editions without cluttering the scene with multiple subtitles, and considering that the original Greedo dialogues are absolutely part of the picture (and that the “sliding text” in opening sequence should be read directly… needing subtitles there is a shame!).

Thanks again!

Hi,
Sorry to revive an old thread… I’ve found an issue importing SRT subtitles with tsMuxeR, and maybe this info could be useful to someone (assuming the problem is not due to my fault or related to my PC configuration):

I’ve used tsMuxeR 2.6.11 (on Windows 10) to convert SW and ESB Despecialized Editions in blu-ray disc format, including some of the available subtitles by directly loading .srt files in tsMuxeR.

When playing the disc I noticed that the last text item of every subtitle track was not shown (for example, the text “…ha inviato migliaia di sonde fino ai più lontani confini dello spazio…” in ESB-it-titles.srt, or the text “Ow!” in ESB-en-16mm-mono-native.srt).

I resolved the issue by adding another newline at the end of every .srt file.

Info Wanted: 'LOTR - FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING': Green tint removed?
Time

OK, thank you CatBus. So maybe it’s better I’ll save my current TV calibration for every time I’ll have to watch FOTR…

To make a comparison, is there a way to make the inverse of what you said, e.g. to play some “test clip” on my BD player? (I suppose it is not as simple as to place one of your “greenish” pictures on an usb stick and show it on the TV using my BD player’s picture viewer, right?)

@Spaced Ranger: I can’t see any image from the post you linked. Are the picture links broken, or it’s only my browser in trouble?

Thank you

Here you are some screenshot comparisons; I used .png images taken from caps-a-holic.com; top BD, middle ColourMatch’ed BD, bottom DVD (click for larger images):

…now you know why they call it BLU-ray… the snow scene reminds me someTHING… (^^,)

Are results perfect? No, of course. But a really good compromise, and a decisive improvement over the BD colors, do you agree?

OK, time to sleep now, 1 a.m. here. Good night!

Hi all,
I registered on this forum soon after I found the existence of a “despecialized” edition of Star Wars (thanks Harmy!) and I ended up writing my first post about Lord Of The Rings…

I recently bought the extended edition blu-ray trilogy, Italian version. Of course I noticed some tendency of FOTR picture towards a green tint, but after looking the images you posted, it seems to me that my copy is a lot less greenish, although I’ve made the comparison between BD still frames on my LCD TV and your pictures on my PC monitor.

Your 2nd picture of Gandalf seem incredibly greenish to me. The same frame on my TV looks almost like your “Colourmatch” frame; same thing for 1st picture (Hobbiville).
On your 3rd picture, the best match is with first (EE BD) picture (…and that tint looks better to me in respect to the EE DVD tint…).

For sure I have almost the same “blue snow” of your 4th picture (EE BD version), maybe a little less greenish. But some frames before, at the end of the previous chapter, snow on mountains looks almost white.

I also turned on the BD Player’s OSD (with full white text), to make a comparison of white tint. Seems that my release has a very little green tint in respect to your example pictures. Maybe they recently “fixed” the EE BDs trilogy?
