As numerous others have mentioned, I'm keenly interested in seeing the results of your efforts, for RoTJ as well as SW and ESB.
In the pedant vein, I'd be interested in an MKV container w/ a high bitrate, H265 encoded video of the highest resolution version after color correction, stabilization, dirt/scratch removal, etc., or whatever the highest resolution you could fit within 50 GB or so.
I looked around but couldn't find the answers to these questions. Feel free to point me in a direction if they're answered elsewhere.
I was curious about the tech behind your efforts. What is your workflow for this project (HW & SW)? Are you using the setup shown in Harmy's SW: DE v2.5 video sources documentary?
I assume you're capturing raw digital images of each frame. What software/tools are you using for stabilization, color correction, scratch/dirt removal, etc.?
Have you found that the color shift is consistent throughout the reels or does it require custom correction in different places? What source(s) are you using to determine the original colors? I ask because of the varying color quality in the stills you've put up. Some have significant shifting while others don't appear as different from the original.
Even the lower resolution images you've shared show great promise. Here is a really quick & edit I did on Vader's cropped head trying to remove the blue shift and get it back to a natural look (without really using anything for comparison). I'm guessing the artifacts are from TIFF>JPG conversion before you shared it(?).
Thanks again for sharing the progress and for taking the time to tackle this!
