The Original Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread

If I ever make my own edit of the original trilogy (which will use elements from Adywan’s and JSteven’s edits, clean up the audio to make it sound less like a microphone, clean up the grain so it wouldn’t be distracting, and improve the overall look of the film), I will not use the Special Edition version of the windows on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back. Why? The fact that they were originally walls informed us that the Empire was closing in onto the Rebels, and now they took that symbolism away.

Thank you for posting this. I’ve never been sure why the Special Edition versions of ESB have never hit me like the theatrical version, but that seem like a very good point.

Info: When will we see a fan edit of episode 4 that includes the SC 38 reimagined fight scene from FXitinPost?

I made my own custom version of Adywan’s edit with this scene and some other FX shots from others’ edits, though it’s way too rough around the edges for me to feel comfortable sharing it(can’t even figure out how to get a non-choppy framerate, lol). I found the scene works really well if you edit the fight to start right after Ben deactivates the tractor beam and cut out some of the scenes with Ben wandering around the Death Star afterwards. It takes on the appearance of Vader luring him in and ambushing him.

Main issues faced by someone trying to edit in the full scene in a more professional manner would the cropping/blue tint on the scenes from the film and an audio desync during Ben’s “strike me down…” line that I’m surprised the original fanfilm editor didn’t fix.
