@ yoda - as soon as I edited my post I realized I was talking about two different things. Doh!

darth’s question though got me to look into my setup as I plan to burn/print some BD50s. I still can’t figure out why on my Win10 Pro, 64 bit, USB 3.0 laptop using BDR-XD05S over USB 3.0 - imgburn reads my system as Win8 Pro (was upgraded to 10), and finds my Pioneer Drive at USB 2.0 in the log when starting the software. It might just be a registry error and have zero effect on the burning…I can’t tell.

darth - I would absolutely pick up some new discs. I’ve always been recommended to use quality discs…too much headache and time wasted when you use the cheap stuff and get failures. Now I will say, I might consider getting some less expensive but quality DVDs too. I’d burn a few DVDs first to see if you run into the same issue - if so then it’s a burner/software issue and you haven’t wasted more BDs. I did check out the Best Buy website and without the exact model number provided, I think you have the same drive as I. I looked at the pioneer website and there is a firmware update for it, as well as a drive utility software that lets you play around with drive speeds (especially reading speeds). I think I am running the original firmware, and only downloaded the drive utility.

I double checked - yeah, I’m using the windows 10 installed driver (10.0.10586.0) from 6/21/2006. Been working fine so I haven’t rocked the boat.

EDIT: OK - Odd the firmware listed above is the one found in the widows device manager. Imgburn is telling me the drive is using 3.01 the latest from pioneer - so maybe I did update it.

darthrush - are you using the pioneer BDR-XD05? If so that’s that one I have and even reviewed off amazon. I’ve had great success with it since early this year for DVD, DVD9, and BD25. I’ve stuck mainly to plexdisc (the glossy printables are amazing), letting imgburn auto detect the max write speed, and I’ve not had any coasters or failures. I second that verification is a time sink, but is a good idea to do as my previous Laptop DVD burner did fail me once. I will say that my PS3 played the BD25 smoothly, but I did run into a little spat of freezing (medal award sequence in SW) on the PS4. So I threw in ROTJ just to see if might be a consistent bad burn/burner combo. Nope. Then I played SW again. Nothing. So I’m sticking with the plexdisc moving forward for the BD50s and see what happens.

I have to say that BDR-XD05+PlexDisc Liquid Defense Glossy+Canon Pixma922 = Amazing Dics!

Glad to hear it worked. I’m waiting to buy a few BD50s at the moment.

But I do have a question - where did the files all go? I only see the SW BD50 on Spleen right now. Where’s the rest of them? I thought I might pull a few down this weekend.

Jumped on right away…managed to start uploading in very short order and have been seeding at nearly 2 mb/s. Having 2.7 from my earlier viewing for Towne32 helped the seeding process start markedly faster. 44.3 GB uploaded this morning and counting. Glad I could help in more ways than one.

The question doesn’t make sense. You of course need a blu-ray burner to make blu-ray disc.
You can play MKVs on the PS3 via USB but it takes some work - there is a discussion on the boards here, but you will have to find it.
You can play MVKs converted via TsMuxer to Blu-Ray ISO and then burned to blu-ray just fine on a PS3.
From what I’ve been told the PS4 plays MKVs just fine.

For my ISOs, I’ll stick to Harmy’s versions (and I’ll definitely update the ESB ISO with v2.5 when released, of course). I’ve used TsMuxer before with the MKV to Blu-ray. So are you saying that if one downloaded you ISO files, one could go in reverse and add in a different MKV and then muxe it back to an ISO? I would like to keep all your additional BD-rom features.

Also - just as FYI - if Towne32 project is completed, which it looks like it will be, Harmy is giving his blessing to call it Harmy’s 2.6. Pretty cool!

phildesfr - if Towne32’s new recolorization project is completed and becomes Despecialized SW 2.6 - would it be possible for you to use that in one of your BD iso files? I think many of us are patiently waiting for Harmy’s ESB 2.5 release so you can update ESB and then we’ll will be grabbing your iso files. Very nice work!

I see that you might have a user in the other thread that might help you out. That’s great! I hope the project comes out well for you. Hairy? No. Room for lots of screw ups? Yes. I’ll look forward to seeing your completed project. Some of the stuff that floats around on these boards is amazing. I wouldn’t dare to a boxed set - I’ve got my fill of just making Blu-Ray and DVD case covers.

As for the investments - through nearly 14 years of marriage I’ve done a few things right. Just a few. 😉

Sorry to hear that you are that broke. Sucks to be in that place. But It begs me to ask how you’re going to pay someone to print the artwork for you (plus there is a lot of trial and error with these projects). 😉 I’d hate for you to get some stuff shipped to you only for you to find out it needed to be edited in some way. Lastly the these DIY projects aren’t cheapest either and these projects suck up - especially considering how much ink disks and paper absorb. I think your going to find that getting your own printer will pay dividends in the long run. My wife complained at me spending $75 (heaven forbid) on a multi-function printer, and now she loves the scanning feature. Men aren’t always wrong…so far I was right with a universal remote, Tivo, and iPhones too.

I burn the AVCHD versions to DL-DVDs and am as happy as a clam. They look great on my 50" television. I use the DVD-5 version to create tablet rips with Handbrake. I should have been a little more patient, waited for the DVD-5 to hit the Spleen (no one is forcing me to use JDownloader, after all!) but ROTJ is my favorite Star Wars film. I’m excited, and I want every possible version of these preservations…

I agree - it was a great moment in their life (and mine to introduce them to the movies). My motivation for finding Harmy was showing them the 2004 SW - and my wife and I both cringing at the CGI and Han shooting second. From that moment on I was on a mission - little did I know I lived under a rock. LOL. I still laugh at my daughter being disappointed that Leia chose Han…we had to have that talk about brother and sister relationships. It was too cute. You will be there someday too. I just have the benefit of taking them to the new ones in the theaters too!

Can you explain to me a little more what you are doing with the DVD5 versions - you’re creating files for you iPhpne? How does that work? I’ve got the iPhone 6S Plus.

I agree it’s a bit of pain - but until you can get on spleen - it’s your best source and frankly I did the DVD5 download there the other night since it’s not on spleen. I downloaded my first Harmy downloads (AVCHDs) from tehp and I forget the movie - but the 40 part download was a killer with all the captchas.

My DVD’s are going to show up from Amazon tomorrow so I will be burning and printing SW/ROTJ…just waiting on ESB. I’m making a set for the car for my kids. Son just walks around the house humming the Imperial March. LOL

I would recommend Jdownloader2 - I’ve read of lots of people having issues with just JDownloader. I’ve not had one issue with Jdownloader2 on two laptops now.

Use Jdownloader 2 - I’ve never had an issue with it. Or check out the Despecialized guide linked in the first post that directs people to a different software to download the files.

As for #3 - why not get a printer. They are in the grand scheme of things very low cost at this point. I upgraded my home printer to the Pixma 922. I wanted a home scanner for work purposes, copier for home purposes, and disc printing for Star Wars projects. 😉 I bought it on sale when it $75.00. But there are a few others such as the Pixma MG5720 on Amazon (being discontinued at $70). Save the cost of shipping and supplies and jump in with a printer that lets you play around with the artwork and discs. I’ve got to say aside from testing your burned disc - printing it is pretty damn cool. And the Plex glossy liquid defense plus disc are amazing!

If it only ran $200 originally - that is scary! You really need to upgrade that thing. It’s disturbing to know your listening to the classics on that. 😉

However, if you are dead set up keeping the player (and not just upgrading that too to a dedicated player only), then you will only want to upgrade the subwoofer as others have said. I did that once before too. Mine was a speaker system from Cambridge SoundWorks that came with a passive sub woofer. Once I upgraded the AVR to one with a dedicated sub out - there was no looking back. Nothing like a good thump!

I do think the recommendation for the new Denon AVRs is a good one. But don’t overlook the buying a refurbed AVR from the main companies to save $. Denon’s own site has a link and I bought my first real AVR via the Harman Audio store on Ebay.

I love the warmth in the sound from the Harman Kardon AVRs but for some reason they always have technical issues with connectivity (at least they did years back when I was active on the AVSforums). Denon has been very good to me though.

Harmy - explain the picture in lay terms. What is the issue?

EDIT: Upon further searching I realized the issue but DreadPirateJosh is on it! I’m sure you’ll be able to get this to work.
