30 years: Your Memories of Waiting for ROTJ
Time

There wasn't much fuss in denmark but I remember being excited over going to scotland and seeing it 2 month before the Danish premier, unfortunately I was going with one of my friends and he didn't speak a word english so I end up translating for him all through the movie.

I went a watch it again the next day......by myself

by the way I was 14 at the time and the reason for going was some boy scout summer camp.

the origin of yoda's name
Time

This is what they write about Yoda's name on wookipidia

The name Yoda may be derived from 'Yoddha', the Sanskrit word for 'warrior.' The name may also be connected to the Hebrew ???(Pronounced: "Yodea"), meaning "He knows" or "One who knows". Additionally some believe the name might also be a reference to the teachings of Yoga, an ancient eastern mind, body and spiritual practice that influenced many vital energy based martial art forms in the far east, such as Tai Chi, and almost certainly inspired many of the concepts and abilities demonstrated by both light and dark side Force users in Star Wars.

what bugs me about this reasoning is none of the sources actually is YODA it's almost and Like and derived from......

so personally I think my source is more likely to be the true one. ( unfortunately it means that yoda's name doesn't have a cool meaning )

the origin of yoda's name
Time

Hi there

I'm new here and the reason I joint up is mainly ( but not only ) this:

The origin of yoda's name has always sounded a little far fech to me.

you know all that about old style names that almost sounds like yoda but not exactly, and means all kind of cool shit.

Then back in 1998 I was traveling in sri lanka and on the way to a wild preserve,

we drive by a big lake and the guide turns to me and point at an big buddistic temple, and say's " that is the biggest dagobar on sri lanka" and I go what?? ( because of the dagobar name, I thought thats funny maybe lucas got the name for yoda's exile planet from these temples.

the guide then continues " yes yes the biggest dagobar are right here at the shores of lake YODA....."

Imagen my surprise.

now my topic for this threat is isn't it more likely that at some point Lucas was there at the shores of lake Yoda by the biggest dagobar in the world and he thought "hey thats a cool name I think I will use that in my sci-fi movie"???

you don't have to take my word for it, just check google maps or earth search lake yoda. :)
