Well now since the the bluray is out people can really start to analyse that “Force Vision” sequence in great detail.
I always interpreted the ‘First Order’ to be a reference to a religious order such as the Jedi Order. However, I recently invented a more amusing reason for the name: The Imperial officers who did not desert when the Empire was routed took to calling themselves ‘officers of the first order’. The praise stuck and became the official name of the new movement.
That would fit with canon, so I think that is pretty much the reason why. Good theory.

Jar Jar on Republic home world that isn’t Corsucant, even though it looks an awful lot like Coruscant. On screen graphics read “No, this isn’t Corucsant, stop asking.”
This is happening. It’s non-negotiable.
So I had a look at the bluray, and it looks like the teal tint has vanished. The stormtroopers at the beginning look completely normal colour-wise.
Out of interest, does anybody else feel that this film has a reality tv vibe in regards to its looks? It just deosn’t look like a film at certain points at all (I’m going by the bluray here, but I remember even the theatrical version’s last scene looked like I filmed on my iPhone). I wonder if people feel it isnt cinematic enough, or that Disney once again went retreated from what fans disliked about the prequels, only to overdo it.
While that is bad news, I do have faith they will release clean versions. Deleted scenes there look top notch and really rather useful.
You know the one thing that pisses me off about this film? One thing I would change above all else. Forget the deleted scenes, the frantic pace or the exposition: the trash-compacter gag has to go.
I mean, what we’re they thinking? It makes so little logical sense it goes full circle and becomes funny again. In fact, all of these nods to the OT need to go. They were great n all in the theatre, but I have a feeling they’ll look so bad in the years to come that Lucasfilm might even rid them off the Bluray release.

If you want honest opinions, I think the music transitions are really rough. And including video game footage just doesn’t do it for me.
Nah that’s fine, I didn’t put that much work on it, I could have ironed out those transitions had I bothered. And without the video game footage (I tweaked the colours on the x-wing clip to make it look distinctly original) I think I would have been struggling to even get past the one minute mark…

And yea, I’m still on the fence about adding Dooku into the council scene(s). There are pros and cons. For me, I feel like Dooku would already be struggling with the Jedi order at this point and probably wouldn’t be sitting in on every council meeting. Or if he was, someone like Yoda or Windu would sense his confusion/conflict in the same way they’d sense Anakin’s fear. For that reason alone, I feel like Dooku wouldn’t want to be around them. This would also explain his isolation at the funeral.
On the flip side of this, Dooku would have more of an impact at the end of the film if he and QGJ shared screen time at an earlier point. If he is seen with the council earlier on, then his leaving would definitely carry more weight, I think. But at the same time, keeping him a mystery/cliffhanger at the end works extremely well for the first “episode” of a saga. It’s a difficult piece of the puzzle to place.
So DIFFICULT.
Honestly it could go either way and it would be valid. Personally I’d like to see him. Just once, he doesn’t even need to say anything. Just have him there. But on the otherhand, if you wanted to make this more sequel-ish I’m guessing you’d go more toward the mystery plot.
So I was bored and made a Teaser for Episode 8. Everything in it I tried to put there for a specific purpose, and most, if not all of the footage is direct from Lucasfilm and is under 6 months old.
I decided to go with Luke+Rey’s theme, the mix that was played at the very end of Ep7, so its relevant to 8. I included sounds of AT-AT’s because I think we might be getting a new iconic vehicle (just a hunch), and due to the bigger role the skywalkers will play in the upcoming film I also included the “Medaled Heroes” theme.

I’m trying my best to get the project done pre-TFA, and if not by the theatrical release, at least by the DVD/Bluray release in time for marathon viewing with appropriate fan-edits.

A Jedi council scene might include a rotoscoped clip from when Dooku sighs after slicing up Ani, probably best inserted when Qui Gin gets shut down about training Anakin. It’s a close-up if I recall and could show him sitting in a chair, thus furthering the implication of his feelings for Qui Gon and dissatisfaction with the Council.

V4, the final version of this endeavor, has been released. Look for it in the usual places, remembering it sometimes takes a while to appear on FanEdit.info. I’ll get the upscaled deleted scenes out to you all very soon, along with English and French versions of MalàStrana’s subtitles (or Project TeeSeeFourteen). I do also still hope to someday do an encode of V4 using Eman’s regrades when they get finished. Nonetheless, it’s done.

Same! I turned to the guy I was watching it with and was like, “erm was that Coruscant? Because if it was I think its complete and utter decimation deserved a bit more attention.”
The film was that level confusing.
I get that it’s trying to get that innocent New Hope feel, but Christ even that had politics (meeting) and this is episode 7. We need it, especially going forward. If it isn’t explained in greater depth in the later films it’s going to have to be put in.

In terms of the film grain my ideal prequels would probably have film grain added to fit in with both the OT and TFA, giving it that SW style. (Note Hal9000)
That’s why I’m kinda waiting atm until several radical edits, such as yours, and others eg Sheepish’s and emanswfan’s which have greater colour correction etc come out and then I can mould them to my tastes. That’s really the background to all this.
