Oops I meant to link to the StarWars EP7 Script from Jason Flemyng's Instagram.

Based on the wiki it's potentially possible?
What I want to know is if you can get anything out of this?!

So the FLUNK? -- After doing a screen comparison, I can see that now.
Yes, but what's the source of the 97 Jabba? It looks better than any 97SE source I've seen.
This looks amazing! I hope to see the whole trilogy get this 97SE treatment. Thank you!
I'm still confused how you got the Jabba scene to look so good? What was the source for that?
I was in 7th grade when the special editions came out. It was the first time I had seen star wars in the theater. Prior to that I liked star wars but from that moment on I loved it! I know this is when people started having issues with certain changes but for me this version has a special place in my heart!!! So thank you!
I just hope the excitement doesn't fizzle out and we'll eventually get the whole trilogy of 97SE looking this good. Thanks again!
Can't wait! 97 Special Editions have a special place in my heart! Are you guys getting closer to being done? Thanks for all that you do!
Cool thanks man and thanks for understanding where I'm coming from. Yea I don't want to spend $200 on some old S-VCR thing. Although the ez grabber came with some of its own software I'm trying to use/learn virtualdub.
I think initially I need to fix the source of the problem which is the VCR and then improve things from there. So are there anymore old VCR tricks or maintenance things I could do to improve the capture? The main thing is, like I said, the tracking kind of has a mind of its own and freaks and by going back and forth, and back and forth. Usually it stops automatically tracking on not a very good picture, then I have to manually adjust the tracking. So there's no way I can just leave the VHS tape to play, I have to sit and watch the whole thing to fix the tracking as it goes. Kind of annoying.
As far as picture quality this is what it's looking like so far:

Hey guys, perhaps some will have slight interest in this. I'm trying to digitize two Star Wars VHS tapes I made back around 1999/2000-ish. If you have interest in any of this this content I can upload it. It has a lot of coverage from that era:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9byeNy3WLUPdGVvajg3LVZwZGM/edit?usp=sharing
The problem is, I have pretty mediocre equipment. I bought a $20 capture device off Amazon and have an old VHS player that's probably worth $10. See here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9byeNy3WLUPVUdESGt0ck4xNm8/edit?usp=sharing
When trying to capture the VHS the tracking on the VCR is not very good. The audio will often fuzz out or the screen will flicker blue. Does anybody have a good idea how to fix this or optomize my capture using the equipment I have?
Thanks!
P.S. Love this site for the short amount of time I've been lurking. Just trying to give back to the community! --Hopefully someone is interested in this stuff.
Release date has passed with no release of SE... ?
Awesome! Thanks for the advice. I'm about to begin a large project of digitizing a lot of VHS stuff I recorded between 1999-2002. All of it is off TV, so like tons of guest appearances on shows and specials on different networks.
Hopefully this is the right forum for this thread?!
I was wondering, I have a bunch of stuff I recorded off TV (especially around celebration I/The Phantom Menace era's) that I would like to convert to a digital format. Can anybody point me in the right direction for purchasing reasonably priced hardware to do so? I know there is a lot of options out there but I was hoping you guys would have some recommendations...
I'm sure once I get that far I'll have further questions about actually ripping it in the best quality/ratios/frame rate/etc...
THANKS!
Hey guys, I’m new around here – I hope I’m posting in the right spot!
Anyway I have a whole slew of stuff I recorded off TV regarding Star Wars stuff. Especially around the Phantom Menace era, when lots of actors were on Rosie Odonell, E!, Access Hollywood, local news coverage and stuff like that. + much much more. Would anyone here be interested in it?
My bad adywan!!! Sorry for the rant. So let me see if i understand correctly...
You used the HD broadcast for most of the movie EXCEPT the 1997 SE exclusive scenes/changes?? AND you used the 97 laserdisc soundtrack correct?
So was this the source when it wasn't taken from the broadcast?? It seems like the quality would change a lot from the HD broadcast and the 97 laserdisc. It's this one right?? --->
Just for fun...
Here's the best list i found of the changes from theatrical TO 1997 SE and NOT 2004 DVD.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_changes_in_Star_Wars_re-releases
excerpt:
1997 Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition
Special coverage on CNN in 1997 notes that Lucas spent $10 million to rework his original 1977 film, which was roughly what it cost to film it originally. Three million dollars of that was spent on the audio track for the special edition. Lucas also spent $2.5 million each on Episodes V and VI. All of the films have newer versions of the 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm production logos.
The following is a partial list of changes:
[edit]A New Hope
Thanks for the info doubleofive!!!!
Thats good to know that adywan's isn't truely the 97 Special Editions. That's weird that he calls it 1997 Special Editions When he/she is only using it as a color reference. This doesn't make sense to me and is misleading. The 2004 DVDs are NOT the special editions. Last time i checked i didn't see special edition on the box anywhere. I think this is where the confussion comes in.
When jaba doesn't look like the phantom menace jaba and there is an exteded celebration with out hayden christiansen in ROTJ, then you can call it 97 special edition. (i'm glad i didn't try downloading it yet)
when you say "and torrents and such" what do you mean? I'm a member of demonoid and finally got an invite to myspleen today. I was under the assumption that myspleen is where most people post these things.
Come to find out hardly anything is being seeded over there.
What am i missing????
I’m a newb here and I have a few goals in mind. What i would like to accomplish is to acquire THE BEST versions of star wars available. The 3 versions that exist (in my mind) are the ones that i’ve viewed throughout my life.
I would like advice about the best versions of:
Star Wars Trilogy - Theatrical Cut
Star Wars Trilogy - 1997 Special Editions
Star Wars Trilogy - 2004 DVD (have)
I’m not really interested in collecting a ton of different versions within these groups. (since i’m a newb, maybe later ha ha)
Now what I DO HAVE already is the 2004 DVD release and the 2006 (Bonus Discs) of the Theatrical Cut. However as everyone knows the bonus discs are non-anamorphic.
Non-anamorphic meaning that IF i had a widescreen TV they would show up weird. Right?? So it’s best to find a anamorphic widescreen version. Please point me in the direction as to which version is The Best. (I know that’s subjective but try to think from my point of view)
Next, in tracking down the 97 special editions I’ve found this torrent over at Demonoid: search -
STAR WARS EPISODE 5: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK 1080P AVCHD 1997 SE THEATRICAL VERSION - ADYWAN REPACK
(why can’t we just post links??? this doesn’t make sense to me)
Anyway, I was told here, at this site that their really wasn’t a 97 SE HD broadcast but this guys says otherwise. Inside the link it says:
“”“”"Movies : Sci-Fi : HD 1080p / 1080i : English
Adywan does it again! Here is the NFO file:
STAR WARS EPISODE 5: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK 1080P AVCHD 1997 SE THEATRICAL VERSION - ADYWAN REPACK
VIDEO: 1080p 23.976fps
AUDIO: (selectable using the audio button on your remote)
track 1: English AC3 5.1 @ 640kbps (taken from the laserdisc and not the DVD mix)
Track 2: English AC3 2.0 Directors Commentaries
SUBTITLES: English
Notes:
This is the 1997 SE Theatrical version for the first time in HD and not the updated 2004
version already available. It contains the original Emperor and the 5.1 Dolby Digital theatrical mix
only available on the laserdiscs…
The source used was the German Premier 16GB HDTV broadcast with the English crawl taken from the SkyHD broadcast.
This release has been extensively colour corrected to return the movie closer to what it looked
like pre-2004 ( so no more “blue” colouring to the movie)
A high bitrate .mkv version (about 14GB) will be available soon
Burn WITH iMGBURN to DL-DVD, stick it in your PS3 or Blu-Ray player and enjoy.

Now this isn’t just for the empire strikes back, but he has A new hope too:
Search Demonoid for:

WORK DONE:
THE COLOUR ON THE 2004 TRANSFER WAS HORRENDOUS. I’VE COLOUR CORRECTED
THE WHOLE MOVIE SO THAT IT IS CLOSER TO HOW IT ORIGINALLY LOOKED, AND
SHOULD LOOK WITH NO DAMN BLUE TINT. HAN IS NOW BACK TO BEING THE ONLY
ONE THAT SHOOTS!!! I’VE REPLACED DREADFUL 2004 5.1 MIX WITH THE 5.1
LASERDISC AUDIO. THIS IS CLOSER TO THE THEATRICAL VERSION OF THE AUDIO
AND DOESN’T SUFFER WITH THE 2004 MIX PROBLEMS OF HAVING THE REVERSED
SURROUND SOUND CHANNELS AND SOUND FX COMING FROM THE INCORRECT SPEAKERS.

RETURN OF THE JEDI SE AVCHD: THEATRICAL VERSION

REVENGE OF THE SITH: THEATRICAL VERSION
This is an amazing release from Adywan. Just pop it in your PS3 or Blu-ray player and voila, Star Wars in full HD. Colour corrected HD with 2 commentary tracks to boot! This really is as good as it gets. I doubt the official release will be as lovingly restored as this.
STAR WARS EPISODE IV A NEW HOPE - (basic colour correction)

Just burn the .img file with imgburn or nero, etc, to a dual layer DVD.

I guess he is working on Return of the Jedi.
OK i’ll rap it up now, SOOOO are these the best versions of the 97 SE???
And again please let me know what is the best version of the theatrical cut.

I’ve been there. THANKS SO MUCH THIS SITE IS AWESOME!!!
Mod Edit: project release info as to adywan’s HD reconstruction project for the 1997 SE of Empire Strikes Back, can be found here:-
adywan’s THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available - '97 HD ESB
and also in here…
That guy with no name’s ADYWAN’S 1997 SE ESB RECONSTRUCTION IN HD. (Available) thread also has project release info.
this 'project' is taking forever - started over a year ago!
Here are the best versions available:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-film-versions-and-best-DVD-sources/topic/6126/
Its says:
"Star Wars Special Edition (1997 version)
Differences: various added scenes and digital alterations
Best source: TB digital broadcast transfer"
So, What is the TB digital broadcast transfer?
Hello! I’m a total newb here. So i hope i’m not messing up with any of the rules here. I’ll do my best to follow them.
So what i’m trying to ‘preserve’ (collect) is the original theatrical 77, 80, 83 trilogy.
I think i’ve found what i wanted: (The Original Unaltered Trilogy)
From what he said it’s the 2006 bonus discs but somehow he got it to be fully widescreen instead of it cut off or whatever the problem was with those…
So a perfect theatrical release on DVD?? CHECK
Now i guess what i’m asking for here is if anyone can upload (becuase i couldn’t find it) the 1997 HDTV Special Editions? So I can burn it onto a single DVD, not DL. I know that seems like it defeats the purpose (downgrading) But as far as technology goes this is all i have at the moment. (newly wed trying to save up)
So yea the 1997 HDTV Special Edition on a 4.3 GB DVD upload to demonoid would be AWESOME!!!
Thank you guys soooooo much, i love forums where people actually take ACTION!!! and not just sit around and talk about crap… 😃
OHH and one more thing…the torrent of disc 4 of the rowman transfer with all the laserdisc special features is ‘dead’ there. Meaning nobody is seeding so i’m stuck at 21% so if anybody can reseed or start a new torrent with this it would be awesome!
OOHHH AND ONE MORE THING -sorry
I don’t get how newsgroups work? is this how most files are transfered around here? Could somebody explain it to me? I see all these people talking as if they have eachothers files but no info on how to get them…
THANK YOU GUYS STAR WARS IS RAD!!!
