In the Gathering Forces episode it looked like they animated garbage mattes onto a few of the tie-fighter shots. Did anyone else notice this?
I look into my crystal ball and... oh no... I see them releasing the OT next year in their original "cuts", but with re-comped f/x shots (matte-line removal, etc.) and probably unnecessary color-grading as well. People who don't know the difference will be cheering... but people in the know (mostly in this forum) will be sickened all over again and the struggle will continue. That's what I see. I sleep now... -_-
Maybe R2 decided to slim down for the film because he he got tired of being called an 'overweight glob of grease'
I think Return of the Jedi is pretty much where the overall story begins to derail (for the OT, anyway). I still like it, but damn, that movie has problems.
The Hobbit movies are passable I guess, but they don't have scenes like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOqT5_AAPgo
It's very simple: the Prequels don't make sense. Not one scene in those films makes any sense at all. The characters are all flat and their motivations are mindless. Everything down to the script level is bad. Bad acting, bad jokes, bad set pieces and an overabundance and reliance on special effects to carry the movies. I've tried to watch fanedits instead... hell, I even tried doing my own edit of Episode I and it was torture. It ended with me deciding that I'll never watch the Prequels again. Sure, you can say the OT had flaws. The fact is that those original three movies had a lot of things that made them light-years better movies: charm, humor, story, characters, fun. So, do yourself a favor, don't try to make sense of the Prequels. Let them go. Have a marathon of the OT and call it a day.
That was a cream dream... also, I'm pretty sure that end scene in the trailer was the equivalent to a movie preview... just sayin'
The shot on the right looks more like film to me... just sayin'. That's a good thing.
Just watched the doc introduction and looks great so far. Can't wait to see the final version. Thanks for all your hard work, Harmy!
10 minutes of awesome!!
My roommate heard sounds of merriment coming from my room while I was watching this. He thought I was looking at porn... lol
Keep up the great work, Ady! You tease ;)
I have an idea to throw in here, and maybe it's been discussed before, don't know if it has...
I think it would be interesting to see TPM and AotC edited into one movie, making it episode I. Then have episode II be "The Clone Wars" and all be made up entirely of edited-together episodes of the animated '03-'05 microseries and the CG movie/series. Then episode III would be a re-edit of RotS with a better, tragic and less tied-up ending. Just stick to the main story points and there could be 3 decent, painless, 2+ hour-long action packed movies somewhere in there.
