Info: Post your edit on icefilms?
Time

Hello everyone

First, a note to the site owners:

My intent of this thread is to get more exposure to the guys who do all the hard work on these fan edits. If i am breaking a forum rule or something by posting about this other web site please just remove this thread as i mean no disrespect.

ok- so, have you all heard of www.icefilms.info ?

Its a very user friendly way to see tv and movies. Its just a portal that serves up the links. One click = viewing.

It would be great if some of the editors would start submitting their work there.

As a layman, I’ve been trying to view the Phantom Edit since it came out and only saw my first fan edit last week! But that’s because i’m a dumbass when it comes to technology. Anyway, its a way to get your visions out to people like me who are not tech wizards who very much would like to see what you have done.

The more this thing spreads virally the more likely in the future the industry will have to adapt to keep its audiance. what you’re all doing today I foresee eventually Distributors will have to embrace.

You know how some video game companies release their game and a modding toolset? And then provide an online depot so others who have bought the product can enjoy fan created content? I believe one day if this fan edit artform keeps growing (and yes it definatly can be classified as art) that companies will begin to offer a similar model.

Its already begun. Back when Battlestar Galactica was on they had an online contest where they provided clips and asked editors to creat some great trailers.

Fan made trailers are much more available to the average person and many of those people have gone on to industry jobs. I want to see you guys reap the same rewards. Some of you work years on a project and show a lot more love and attention to a franchise then those that get millions to work on it.

I hope one day many of you get to reap the rewards you deserve.

Especially when they have started giving us movies like the Star Wars prequels, Xmen Origins: Wolverine, Terminator: Salvation, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and G.I. Joe.

Post your work on www.icefilms.info (and other sites like her) so more can see what you’ve done.

Again, to the site owners… Its wonderful you have provided a showcase for the editors work- but I find it next to impossible to actually find and view their work and I’m more tech savvy then a lot of ‘average’ people. People that appreciate good film are often artistic in nature and many art people are technophobes LOL

Thanks again

Idea: Terminator Salvation
Time

its even more unbelievable when you remember the entire crux of them going after sarah was because they never knew who john connor's father was

the entire forth movie is only useful as footage to try and make an entirely different story

and the 4th movie just... ends

after watching it a second time the two overwhelming feelings i had the first time came back

1) john comes off as beyond egotistical and a meglamanic...

hes frantic to stop the resistance attack because -HE- will then cease to exist. where the other movies has always kept him grounded- he now totally believes his own hype and is convinced that humanity cant hope to survive without him... yet- in the original timeline (which we have never seen) we somehow defeated the machines without him first being born.

there has never been mention of the original timeline which is= the machines are defeated

we are told and see glimpses of the second timeline- kyle goes back in time and fathers a child. this child grows to become john connor and leads the humans to defeat the machines.

2) the movie just... ends

with the non-stop set pieces there is no build up what so ever. we see a few battles. the t-800 prototype factory is destroyed and the movie just.. ends

granted they were planning on making a trilogy so this may be why there was no monumential build up but come on all those hundreds of millions of dollars and almost 2 hours and you cant tell any real story or show any real character development or non-retarded scenes of 'dialogue'?

i cant call the few we are given really 'conversation' because everyone just yelled lines back and forth at one another. it was like a live action dragon ball Z

Idea: Terminator Salvation
Time

before i created this thread i looked for any other posts on Terminator Salvation vaderios.

ADigitalMan has played with T1, T2, T3 but his list doesnt have anything for Salvation on it.

The list of scenes he added between Sarah and Kyle from Terminator 1 and Cyberdyne finding the terminator chip though sounds awesome though. i wonder if those can be worked in somehow?

when you say ADigitalMan 'did that' what do you refer to vaderios? working in some of the robocop footage?

Idea: Terminator Salvation
Time

if someone really wanted to get fancy... years ago there was a Robocop/ Terminator crossover

there might be footage in the 3 robobcop movies and tv series that could be used

especially if there is a longer fan-made scene of 'Skynet' footage explaining the plot or its plans or whatever.

the movie gave enough raw footage to show skynet data files being accessed and such.. it might show skynets history to markus

since markus is less damaged at the end of the movie then he is earlier an inventive person may be able to snip bits and assemble it in such a way so the more screwed up damage footage can appear later in the movie

flip the scenes around basicly.

if any editors are thinking about taking on Salvation i would love to help in any way i can. please contact me if you want to discuss this.

Idea: Terminator Salvation
Time

Ok so i’m sitting here subjecting myself to a second viewing of Terminator Salvation trying to see if a salvagable movie could be made from this mess… and if so what might be a good story?

Maybe an enterprising editor/ fan edit wizard could use this footage and make an ‘original timeline’ version.

First throw out the opening text and any mention of a year

get rid of the 2003 footage

give a ‘bluish cast’ or ‘cool exposure’ to footage- especially all the night footage so it meshes the other movies… a night filter on the sky that truly shows how DARK it is without industrial man ‘just over the horizon’. And de-bleaching the film stock to replace it with another set of filters based on whether you were showing the outside or the indoors under various firelit/fluorescent illuminated conditions.

perhaps pull some content out of the terminator tv series… they had some of people held captive for experiments, some battle footage, a submarine episode, and showed the time travel unit

perhaps a wizard could make a watchable story - although that would be hard as almost all dialogue is cringeworthy- either what is said or how its delivered by the actors

show the scenes of christian bale as john connor discovering the 600 series and the deactivated markus (dont show the fade of markus waking)

it might be possible to edit the scene of the revived and restored markus to look like he is being activated

show the scene of markus meeting kyle and kyle getting captured

perhaps its possible to change the markus torture scene around so it looks like connor has him reprogrammed

show the scene of connor hearing where kyle was taken

show the scenes of christian bale as john connor listening to his mother’s tapes and looking at her photo

perhaps show kyle’s rescue near the beginning of the cut - it might be possible to put the rescue of the people and kyle near the beginning of the film

use some of the footage of the arnold prototype

show the scene of christian bale as john connor getting his face gouged in salvation

get rid of all mention or footage talking about markus’ organic heart and the end with connor suffering heart damage

perhaps there is a way to show the ‘underlying signal’ footage as the way skynet was eventually brought down. it might be possible to take the footage of cyber eels attacking the helecopter and put it together with them testing the signal on the captured eel later- (showing it in such a way so it looks like john went out and caught it)

show the hunter killer being taken down with the jamming signal

incorporate the ‘futuristic’ footage from the first 3 movies:

show the ‘future’ footage from terminator 1 in order with the older kyle

maybe the time travel footage from the tv series here (or stuff from other movies showing a complex… )
i have seen some pretty amazing things done with fan editing and fan films the last few years- maybe there is even some way to show skynet’s defense grid smashed And as last ditch effort with doctored footage show naked arnold, patrick t1000, and lokin t-x going through or in a line to go through… (maybe even cameron too)

in essense make it a john meets his father for the first time story.

as someone else on the IMDB salvation boards rightly pointed out, the machines would have no idea of john or kyle’s true significance until their defense grid is broken.

show skynet being destroyed- salvation and maybe other movie footage. it doesnt even look like bonham carter’s voice matches up with what she is saying in the movie as is now… they showed it could look like anyone- from the displays ive seen ADYWAN add to Star Wars it would probably be do-able to make more footage of ‘skynet’ first mentioning the time travel equipmet is opperational
and then later, with explosions and glitches starting to scramble it- sending terminators to go back in time.

perhaps end with Skynet saying ‘The War has just begun’ then - detonation

show an edited mix of terminator older john footage from T2 with part of the terminator 3 victory footage

and end it with the opening of the first terminator to make a loop.

all with the famous theme getting louder and louder after the explosion.

the tv series was so much better then this movie (even though it had many flaws)… its a shame it was cancelled
