STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

looking very very good! the new matts in cloud city look extremely impressive. big well done!

now am i the only one that likes the over blown saber glow in the fight leading up to lukey-boy loosing his hand? i know it's a bit of a continuity error but i guess i just like the glow iness.

are lightsabers a moot poit? IMO lightsabers should glow and cast light unlike in the PT.

did that make any sense?

Ep VI's ending isn't about a teddy bear picnic. "The ending" is the revelation that even though Anakin Skywalker had turned to the Dark Side, becoming the epitome of evil, he was still able to be redeemed....in the end there was still good left in him...enough to save him.

....

And oh yeah...one more thing. Lucas, as if to add insult to injury, just had to put a Jarjar screaming "wesa free" in there...didn't he...what an asshole.

cheers for recapping what happened to anakin skywalker. did you assume that when i mentioned the teddy bear picnic i had infact forgotten the main arc of the trilogy? well after all i am only 21.

edit. i do actually agree that the miscellaneous gungun shouting wesa free was lucas giving some of us the middle finger.

I agree with you...its just one more GL SE addition that over explains something that didn't need further explanation....it's almost like George thinks the SW fans are fucking stupid and need every little concept spelled out for them, otherwise we might not get that at the same time that the rebels were celebrating on Endor that the rest of the Galaxy was joyous as well.....Fucking George, you the one who's clueless....

i dunno. i guess it's a matter of opinion and to a certain extent how you feel about george's right to mess with the films. i personally am torn between "you souldnt mess with a film once it's finished george!" and "this epic trilogy ends with a teddy bear picknick?...really... i mean yub nub?!"

however, as we're in the Adywan thread, i think we can all assume that "you shouldnt mess with a film once it's finished" has taken a back seat.

the celebrating 'epilogue' as someone rightly described it feels more like a fitting ending. it strikes a more impressive tone to the ending of a galaxy wide dictatorship. we still see the teddy ewoks having their shindig so we still see the personal side of the celebration.

i do however agree with your "SE addition that over explains something" critique in regard to the wampa scene. less was definately more in that part.

That Yoda comparison was amazing. I think the color correction is likely the most significant part of this project. I am one of the unlucky people who first saw the OT as the 2004 DVDs. I think that the proper coloring brings a whole new magical feel to this film as apposed to the drab and simultaneously oversaturated color abomination that is the 04 DVDs.

i know what you mean. whilst the SEs were the first versions of star wars that i saw, the 04 DVDs were the first versions i've owned. and untill recently i had next to no problem with them.

upon first viewing, with my untrained eyes, the only thing i noticed that was off were the lightsabers. as i got older and wiser (and got a vhs copy of the SEs) i've realised how messed up the colours are! then i got a decent surround system and things got worse! it's about this time that i found originaltrilogy.com and now i know the full extent of how messed up the dvds are!

the point im trying to make is that people coming to star wars post 04 may not even know what a substandard copy of the film they are being presented with. some of us are too young to have experienced the films properly.

but then again the term "properly" is relative. to me the proper ending of RotJ is the galaxy celebrating - not a teddy bear picknick.

edit: i just realised that i forgot the main point of my post which is, ady, the colour correction is (to me) the best thing about the work you are doing.

Why was the '04 DVD set such a botched release?
Time

did anyone at lucasfilm ever specify whether or not the blue tint was a result of the restoration process or if it was added later. what i am trying to ask is are the messed up colours lowery's fault or were they added AFTER the restoration process. because as much as i try to think about it i cant understand how restoring a film frame by frame would cange the colour of things...

Ady, do you have the Lightsaber battle without any music?

The "PURIST" version is pretty much that.

i was under the impression that that purest edition was just a colour corrected, greedo shooting/jabba less version of the film. am i mistaken? does the purest editoin have the extended death star attack and awesome new alderaan exploading shots?

i've glanced through the thread and i cant seem to find what exactly the purest edition is. is it just Revisited without battle of the heroes? coz that'd be sweeet!

yeah people were having this "debate" on another borad i am on. just because someone is a clone doesnt change the fact that they're human.

when skimming through this mammoth thread i remember it being mentioned that the emperor dialog was being updated aswell as his face but i cant find the post anymore.

can anyone remind me what's being changed/updated?
