I thought all the LD footage was included on the DVDs
I’m really curious how you managed to get it to 3 hours. The edit I did ended up at 2:30. And I used just about everything I could find. The only thing I held off on was the serious amount of exterior ship footage. But even then it isn’t that much.
Has this been finished?

I’m glad. No disrespect to any other editor, but TM2YC’s Lost Workprint edit was probably my favorite fan edit if all time. I love the inclusion of all these deleted scenes! Hopefully I can do justice to the edit in those portions I’ve taken on.

One other thing I thought of in regards to the opening crawl. Would it be possible to recreate it by actually filming it like it was originally done. I’m sure there are people here that know what the complete text was. I think that would look better than creating it digitally. Just a thought.
That would be fun. Not sure anyone is willing to go to those lengths but that would be nifty.

Question, why not use all the B&W deleted content from the OT? If the goal is to make as extended a version as it can be made, with as much alternate material as possible, then I don’t see a reason to leave out such material. If the edit is to be like a restoration of a partially lost movie, then featuring material in different quality, and text/stills substituting footage should not be a hindrance.
I agree. But it seems like a fan created “Lost Cut” of SW has been talked about for ages. I would be shocked if we ever really see one.

I am now contemplating starting one. Has anyone cleaned the scenes from episode 4 from the bluray? I was assuming you would matte the wide to pan & scan. I’m interested in your project.
The bluray has the deleted scenes used in the TV cut. But obviously not in widescreen. Just in standard 4:3.
Having contributed to a few of the past releases I’m glad to see this going.
I wish I had a way to rip the stuff from the bluray.
Where did you find the alien bits from 2:14 to 2:25? I’ve never seen those before.
