I see… cognitive dissonance then 😃

My thesis is that it’s uneven, and that while its best parts are on par with V, they’re still inconsistent with it and seem to be a conclusion to some different version of the story that was never filmed - and, the actual conclusion has never been filmed.

And that there is still possibility to catch up on the latter 😉

We still only have TWO movies in the end, and nothing is going to change that. I can’t think of any franchise in the history of civilization that has a track record this bad, and such a long drought since the last good movie.

Frankly, I wish I never encountered Star Wars in the first place, because it is a Faustian bargain of endless misery.

My point was that it’S still possible to discard everything since, and then hopefully do something EpVI shoulda did 30 years ago.
Should this idea spread around the mainstream, it’s almost a given.

Only if it were part of a later reboot (as they do with most of their franchises). If they were to make a plain alternate ROTJ, that would enrage a lot of OT’s fans (not profitable! 😄)

You sure? My impression was that fans obsessed with canon are not the mainstream.

The concept of “good but not consistent with the predecessor” is quite easy to understand, the only ones who wouldn’t accept are probably those emotionally invested in “the OT as the true story”, and I doubt that’s a mainstream sentiment.

Most would be curious at least - a curiosity that could be ignited into a flame of passion and desire, given proper input…

We still have a 13:1 ratio of good to bad in this franchise. No amount of ranting will improve ROTJ or make it perfect, and it’s falling short is the worst disaster ever. Star Wars will never be good again; why, why, why did this happen?

They could still retcon it and shoot an alternative continuation of Empire… that’d be quite something, wouldn’t it.
