Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)
Time

Absolutely loving these discs! Once the set is complete, these are going to become my “official” set. One minor note on the ESB 50GB from myspleen, the on-screen menus list the commentary track as “Laserdisk” commentary instead of “Laserdisc” commentary. Obviously not worth an update by itself, but it would be great if that could be corrected in some future version.

Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers

Hey There,

Heres an update of my custom set. Finally got the positioning right to fit the covers perfectly in the 15mm Criterion Blu-ray boxes and was able to track down some higher resolution art for the back. As for the inside/reverse, I printed them with the Noriyoshi Ohrai collage style prints. All in all, pretty happy with the results. Hope you enjoy.

Any chance I could get a PM of these? They’re EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for!

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)

Absolutely beautiful. The stabilization and deflicker are like a night-and-day difference over the previous iteration.

Didn't notice the crushed blacks at all, but there are a couple of spots where very bright elements in relative dark scenes appear smeared and a little soft. The best example of this is at around 00:50 and then again at around 06:40 for a few seconds. I'd need to do a side-by-side with another source to be sure I'm not imagining it, but is there any chance this is being introduced during the scan/cleanup?

You guys are doing incredible work with this. Eagerly awaiting the next release.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Harmy, if Disney does properly restore the Original Theatrical Unaltered Versions of The Star Wars Trilogy and release them on Blu-Ray how would the Despecialized Editions compare to them?

No way to know until they're actually available for scrutiny, but if I were a betting man I'd say that the official editions will have a much higher bitrate and be free of the (mostly very minor) compositing artifacts that remain in the Despecialized versions, but will have pretty sloppy color correction, in keeping with past releases.
