The Hobbit: Roadshow Edition ❖ FIRST TEASER NOW ONLINE ❖ (a WIP)
Time

I’ve only just come across this edit-in-progress. Got to say it looks like you’ve got a spot on vision for it. I found the book edit to be be a vast improvement over the bloated, unsatisfyingly long original trilogy, but this looks it’s taking it in another direction.

Super excited to see more, hoping the holidays are finding you well and you are still enjoying the project.

Watched this. It’s much better than the released trilogy, which bloated full of junk IMO. Love the fact that it’s much tighter to the book, and the pace is much better now. This is the only Hobbit I need now, will probably give the trilogy away to someone. Superb, well done.

You can’t give it away as the site says you have to own the official release of any fan edit or preservation.

Edit: not trying to mod just giving helpful advice.

Yeah, it would be best to hold on to those, at least symbolically. I purchased and still possess a blu-ray of Dune that I still haven’t watched just because I wanted to watch a fanedit of the film.

Advice taken. Trilogy put away in the loft to collect dust. Looking forward to the updated version too!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone [Revisited] (Released)

PMs sent.

Sorcerers Stone will get a new update soon, a sort of V3. Framrate issues, some improved video quality at select scenes - usually dark scenes that had way too much background noise to my liking. And a few more tweaks.

Excellent! Thought the framerate thing was me, but then other videos were ok. Question, is it just my setup that has a visible lightening at the top and bottom edges or is just a side effect of colour corrections etc…?

Prefer the flow of this edit to the theatrical, can’t wait to check out your improvements.

Yeh, I agree with that. I think they only included so much Will plot in Season 1 for TV continuity and not wanting to just introduce such an important character in Season 2 almost as a surprise. That’s not how the books are though is it? I much preferred your Golden Compass edit to the originals. The thing about the whole will thing is you don’t need his backstory do you? What really matters is how he interacts with Lyra and what he does when he becomes a main character. Good luck with this either way, I know I’ll be checking it out.

Harry Potter Revisited: PoA, HBP and DH (Released)
Time

Watched PS and COS so far. I felt they were great improvements to the originals and extended cuts, especially liked the reworked start to PS. Had a few framerate issues with PS my end, not sure if that was just me though. The wife was a little put out by missing parts, but she just loves the extended versions and thinks the longer the better - crazy.

Reckon the only bit from the 2 movies I would remove is the “daddies gone mad hasn’t he” line, which has always bugged me about being used in the wrong scene of the original movie. Saying that, I know very little about the technical aspects of video editing so this may not have been possible anyway.

Looking forward to PoA next. Can’t wait to see your treatment of it.

Did you say you’ve also done a DH edit? Great news if you have!

His Dark Materials: Film Edition (Released)

Watched the first one. What a great edit. There was just one scene which spanned the start/end of 2 episodes that jumped in time a bit too quick, but tbh I don’t know what else you could have done. Using the airship scene helped with it.

Overall, superb. Great focus on the Lyra story line and removal of all that Boreal and Will stuff which was just just there to pad it out for TV purposes. Can’t wait to check out your second edit! Great work.

I’ve only just discovered this edit-in-progress (and season 1) and am extremely excited to see. The series so far have been excellent, but struggled structure-wise to make it true to the book AND so that noobs to the story will want to tune in each week. And there’s no way you could condense the plot into 3 2-hour movies (ahem cough cough Golden Compass). Looking forward to seeing your first season edit (will PM) and especially this season!

JJ, I wonder if this deepfaker would lend you their files for your Grindelwald scenes? Their work is pretty fantastic 😉
Couple that with some voice cloning and we might have a seamless transition to Mads Mikkelsen.

That really is amazing! You’d have thought the movie studios would be all over this kind of thing. Imagine the money they could make of special editions and the publicity it would get.
