Hey, new user here with a slightly more obscure title. As far as I can tell, the theatrical release of Ever After was in anamorphic widescreen 2.35:1, and the current BluRay and streaming releases match that. However, my wife insists that the version we have is “cut off” the top and bottom.
I’ve confirmed (from an archive.org upload of the opening credits) that the VHS release appears to be in fullscreen 4:3 with extra material at the top and bottom of the frame.
I’m currently sourcing a DVD which also has this aspect ratio represented.
My suspicion is that the Netflix version simply zoomed in a 4:3 release to fit a 16:9 aspect. However since it’s no longer streaming on that platform I’m unable to verify.
Basically I’m wondering if anyone has more details about this release and/or may be able to help me source an 1080p or 4k open-matte version.
