Star Wars 1977 70mm sound mix recreation [stereo and 5.1 versions now available] (Released)
Time

I can't believe I missed the stereo version either. Thanks a lot hh!

I sampled the new 5.1 70mm the other day it sounds great, the bass is a real joy. But what about the surrounds? Is it all mono surround because it's mostly based on the 93 2.0 mix?

Did the 70mm mix have stereo surrounds way back when? If so, wouldn't it be legitimate to borrow parts of the surrounds from one of the official 5.1 mixes?(Sorry if this been discussed before)

Here are some more comparisons between v1.0 and Remastered.

so I also uploaded a folder with all the pictures in their original form (high quality Jpeg):

I recommend watching it as a fullscreen presentation in both cases.

It's not just the colors but it looks much more filmlike with a layer of healthy grain and much more detail.

Seems very promising indeed.

Thank you, Harmy, and happy birthday.

Thanks, also, to everyone else involved.

Now, does anyone know if I should download this from usenet, would I be able to return to myspleen and help seed? That is, will the two versions match?

For the usenet upload the rar files have simply been renamed from Deed2.0 to Fixed_Deed2.0. The par2 files however are different, so you'd need to redownload them at myspleen.

Besides, 28% (50 files) have been uploaded to usenet so far, with approximately 1.5 days to go. So I guess downloading it from my spleen would be faster anyway.

Since I don't do torrents anymore, I gotta ask; why is usenet taking so much longer to upload, too? I'm not in a hurry, just curious

Star Wars 1977 70mm sound mix recreation [stereo and 5.1 versions now available] (Released)

I downloaded the old 70mm lossless mix yesterday from usenet. But there were some files missing and I couldn't fix it with the PAR files either.

It's no big deal since the new one is coming but it would be nice to mux it with harmy's v2 if there are some delays or whatever.

Do someone know anything about it? Or was it just me having a problem?

@budwhite: The aim of Ady's project is completely different, so I don't see your point at all there. I myself am immensely looking forward to watching Ady's ESB:R! I would probably be looking forward to Lucas' next Special Edition, if just out of curiosity, if he released the original in decent HD.

I was just thinking loud and thought that many other people lost some interest as well, with his SE 1080p versions and your's being available

With his(revisited) being stuck in DVD quality as well

How can watch the movie dubbed? I find it quite weird to be on a star wars fan site and to see so much talk about dubs. I mean I understand for the regular joe in france or italy to see films dubbed, but here, among movie fans... it's strange

What if I want to show it to my friends and relatives who don't speak english? They like movies too, why shouldn't they be able to see it?

Dubbing isn't so bad as it is thought of in the USA, IMHO. You guys have terrific voice actors, piss poor dubbers (I've heard them). We have no voice actors (people don't even know what they are) and terrific dubbers (maybe not so much the last generation, but their fathers and grandfathers we brilliant)

Voice acting and dubbing, two distinct (if similar) arts for two different cultures. That's my tuppence worth, anyway.

I'm Swedish and the only thing we dub is (small)children movies.

Well I guess it is what you're used to, to me it would be just like listening to "born to run" with a cover singer backed up by the e street band.

I'm sure it helps a lot if you are good at english. Most folk under 50 could watch a movie without subtitles and get most of the story. That doesn't work in france or italy

Not to thrash adywan in no way but I have zero interest in his fan edits. This is the reason why I came hear in the first place 5 years ago or something. Preservation is the real deal.

I do love what ady has done with color correction, LD audio and of course, the special edition in 1080p but other than that, Harmy pretty much killed the revisited editions
