thanks Matt! from what i have seen so far, Matt has done a better job than Anchor Bay! the transfer of both audio and visual is superb! give your self a pat on the back Matt for a job well done!
i'm sure i read someone that this is coming to dvd. i thought it was a anchor bay release but i'v e just checked and it's not lised (damnation valley is though!). i could be mistaken. night of the comet is a cool film. i', sure i have a vhs copy of it somewhere!
not a rumor but fact! i read the same info for 2001 at the digital bits i think. there's a HD-DVD version coming as well! one for the wish list! i would love to see the special features from the 2001 criertion LD set. was that set preserved?
how about re-editing batman Begins so that it's like an episode of the 60's Batman! adding the cheesey sound effects and music and with the almighty KAPOW and KERSPLAT titles! i've just been watching it on FX
On the FX Network Premire, there are several additonal scenes added for running time, and a lot has been edited.
Scenes Added: Marion looking around her house is extended. Jimmy taking a look around Marion's house is extended. Michael stalking Marion is extended. Cops are shown bumbling around outside while Marion is chased by Michael. Intro to Laurie is differently Paced. a quick view of the town and school is shown before Laurine and John have breakfast. a reference joke to Psycho made by Charlie is shown as he walks with John to school. Michael is shown watching the Mother and little girl during the restroom scene. Charlie and John are shown talking while they walk the California town outside the school and Michael follows them in his car. Molly is shown walking through the school halls after getting the roses off the dish lift. Laurie is shown watching the buses leave while on the telephone before the Psycho homage with Norma. Laurie walking the school halls at night and walking the school grounds. Adam Arkin chasing the Shape is slightly different. John, Charlie and Molly are shown sneaking in through the kitchen window and get stuck while John sees Michael coming into the school. Adam Arkin carves a pumpkin while he opens up to Laurie about his past; lead in for Laurie to open up to him about Michael. Michael and Laurie stalking each other at the finale is extended. Extended ending shows Michael's car following far behind Laurine but ends where Laurie chops off the guy's head.
Edited Scenes: The decapitation at the end of the movie. It cuts to the credits and Halloween music right after she swings the axe, meaning that if you've never seen the workprint or theatrical cut, you wouldn't know whether or not she did indeed cut Michael's head off. The scene of Michael gettng pinned by the van against the tree has been cut out. It cuts to the van catching on fire. This becomes a goof though, as when Laurie looks at the van, there is no fire, but it starts up again. The sequence where Laurie is driving down the road with Michael in the body bag in the back has been lengthened. It uses some shots of the van driving down the road twice. The scene where Michael chases after John and Molly cuts out the shot of the knife going into John's leg when Michael stabs him. Will's death has been edited. It only shows Michael go up behind him, then cuts to a shot of Laurie looking at him. His body is then thrown down on the floor. Scenes with the f-word and/or s-word have been dubbed over, or taken out completely.
i haven't actually got round to watching this version yet
Halloween 2 - The Ultimate Cut Using the additional scenes from the TV version. The Ultimate Cut blends these scenes into the uncut theatrical version creating the longest cut available! the on;y two drawbacks i have seen with this version is that one scenes shows the TV station logo for a few seconds and an alternate version of one scene is show after the original scene. other than that, great stuff! fullscreen only
Halloween 6 - Producer's Cut Composite Again using the Workprint version and theatrical version. this version of Halloween 6 blends the workprint scenes and original Donald Pleasene voiceovers into the theatrical cut of the film. widescreen
Halloween H20 - FX TV Version. Shown a few times on FX on the USA. this version contains additional and alternate scenes. It has been edited for language and violence though. fullscreen
Halloween - The Homecoming This version is the original workprint version of Halloween : Resurrection and was used for test screenings before release. it features a never beginning scene which shows an 8mm film showing the entire Myers family in the garden and a very spooky Micheal looking direct into the camera. i beleive there are little alterations throughout the film. italso has a temp score and features the CSI woman ending where she gets pulled to the manhole. widescreen
I'm hoping to have a go at re-editing the 1998 Godzilla. if you wanna have a go at editing it, i'll gladly forward my ideas. i'm also hoping to create a Halloween H20 Ultimate Cut which is a remix of the Fullscreen theatrical version, the US FX TV edit and any other versions that may be available.
I do remember reading an interview with either Sam Raimi or Avi Arad about a director's cut DVd when the film came out. the reply was that most of the footage that they shot was in the film and that theatrical release of Spider-Man was Sam's director's cut.
BUT there was wispers of an extended Spider-Man 2 coming out!
