I notice that you have now edited this post since you first replied. I have to say your attitude pissed me off a bit. I am working as fast as i can, while not too fast that i make mistakes. i have had no sleep for 3 days just to get the last few things finished and i was really not in the mood for your impatience and quite bad attitude towards me. Why be so sarcastic about how long it's now going to take to complete? as i replied originally, i did say that hopefully it would be 2 weeks, but gave no guarantee. also if you looked at the date that i actually posted that it was 3rd January, and by my calculations the 2 weeks isn't up until the 17th, so i still have 1 day to go. I'm just one guy working on this edit so please just cut me some slack. it will be ready when i have checked and double checked everything and feel happy enough with it to release it.

That's why I said "almost" two weeks ago, today is the 16th, yesterday was the 15th, so technically "almost" 2 weeks after the 3rd, the 15th would qualify. My aim was not to offend, especially when your are working all those long sleepless hours and days. Thank God I only stumbled on this thread and project in Nov 2007 or I would have pulled out my hair waiting a year and a half. So please don't be angry with me. I am just really looking forward to it.
How many times can I day thank you? THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! times a billion from this impatient, rude, imapatient, douchery bastard.

Yoda: The boy has no patience.

Obi-Wan: He will learn patience.

Have you considered releasing an xvid as a sort of BETA release. I was thinking that once its complete and you do release it there maybe stuff you might have missed which we could help out with spotting before finally releasing a proper DVD version for our DVD shelves ;-)

If you water-marked it somehow to prevent it being a final version and reduced the quality a bit then we could see the work youve done, feedback any comments to you and then if you wanted you could make any changes based on those comments for a version 2.0 release after Xmas.

I guess it would be like a test screening for a movie and we could help with any issues or glitches you might have missed (not saying there will be any of course!!! sometimes when youve been working on something for so long you can miss something without realising...well thats my experience anyway!!)

Just a thought! Personally I dont mind waiting till the middle of next year.

Keep up the good work, if what youve done so far is anything to go by I doubt there will be a single mistake anyway!!....

They are not a physical entity any more, they are pure spirits they have no real image, they left their physical bodies and now are pure energy, Obiwan and Yoda show themselves as their old selves because that's how Luke knew them and they are comfortable with that image, is just a visual representation of what they once were, just as with Anakin he is not young or old anymore he is a spirit, energy, one with the force, whatever you want to call it, and he is only showing himself as what he once was and obviously now that he has been brought back to the light he is more comfortable with his younger good image than with his old darkside self. It's not that he got rewarded for being bad or evil like some poeple have suggested, is his choice and I'm sure Obiwan and Yoda have a choice too, as i said that's only visual representation of who they once were and they do not look like that anymore, they have no physical bodies.

You could argue that the ghost images are just a representation of the form of the person NOT consumed by the dark side at the point they passed away though, as thats the only evidence in the films up until the ROTJ SE?

Mind you where was Qui Gon Jins ghost in Episode II and III?

I blame the midicholrians....

...........Well i hate the new shuttle sequences added to the end of ESB. they just break up the flow of the action. I don't mind the new "alert my stardestroyer..." section but the rest has to either be minimised to one shot or gone completely. Also they add a nice new window in cloud city just before they meet Vader but for the rest of the sequence the window is back to its pre-SE appearance. ...........

Adywan

Couldnt agree more. One thing that has annoyed with this new scene is the fact that James Earl Jones's voice is out of place with the action, you would expect a more annoyed tone of voice coming from Darth Vader at this point in the movie. There is a definite air of irritation in his tone all the way through ESB until this scene where Darth Vader then reverts to a just requesting a shuttle in a formal manner. He should have sounded incredibly "irritated "at this point rather than "matter of fact" delivery that was added in the SE. Im sure I heard that this dialogue track was actually part of ESB originally anyway but was cut although I find it hard to believe? although it may have been part of Star Wars?

Anyway Id be tempted to drop this whole scene and revert to the original format, who cares if we dont see Darth travel from cloud city to his star destroyer?

Anyway thats off topic. Keep up the good work with Star Wars! I havent watched Star Wars in over a year and a half now in anticipation of your version and during this time have even bought a widescreen TV and have yet to test it with my OT discs!!

Can you edit the show so
Chewbacca is clean shaven and wears a suit,
Han as a respected trader,
Change Vader so he's wearing a floral dress and carrying a feather duster,
Add a bit of colour to the Stormtroopers, perhaps some nice pastel shades
Oh and add some vegetation to Tatoonine that place looks so barren and dry

AND make Han shoot first.....oh wait....

j/k j/k... about editing her out....
but not on the annoyance factor in general, what a effing nobody she is.

I agree and in addition I think that Chewbacca part should be reduced......I mean whats he actually shouting about anyway..............

Hey, adywan, I don't expect you to give away all your surprises before you release this edit...but I was wondering...have you done anything to the trash compactor scene other than color correction? You could answer by simply saying 'yes' or 'no' ...or not at all!

No nothing done to that scene.

I think its obvious to most people whats computer generated and what isnt!, Han Solos head is CGI the rest of the scene content may not be (only Lucasfilm know the answer!) but I dont think due care and attention was used in adding these extra few seconds to extend this scene and I believe the changes stand out.

If we are being picky, its CGI "manipulated" then! , primarily because Han Solos face looks unreal i.e. like hes wearing a rubber mask.

Its still quite obvious that it doesnt fit with the next shot, speculating about the cost of CGI work is a bit pointless and even if its an alternate take its irrelevant the simple facts are:

1) It is a new SE addition and not in the original
2) It looks fake
3) Looks very different from the following shot

Anyway Darth Editous decided to keep it in so its up to him, I wouldnt know how to take it out but if he ever returns to Star Wars again then maybe he could shorten it so this scene is back to what it is in the orginal. The rest of his changes are superb.

Hi Darth Editous

Ive posted a pic of the offending Lucas edit, basically this shot is in the SE but is not in the orginal film, I guess Lucas wanted to show Greedo firing first so had to insert this into the film to allow more time for the laser from Greedos gun.

If you check any Laserdisc rip then you will find that this scene isnt in the original! You never see either person fire, just a flash of smoke and then Greedos head fall on the table. I think that works better as its clear Han did the shooting because he reached for his gun...I was eight when I watched it orginally and figured that out pretty easily so personally dont think it needs this extra shot (although glad the head dodge has gone!)

The CGI Han looks very very very fake..............

Especially in comparison to the very next shot following Greedo hitting the table it does stick out like a sore thumb!

The next shot of a real Han Solo

I'd love the above CGI Han to be edited out and put back to how the orginal film was as its really irratating, Lucasfilm really messed with this scene. Apologies to anyone who hadnt noticed.

Thank you Darth Editous..... there has obviously been a lot of effort put into this and Im most grateful someone has done this (only 5 more films to go..)

..... but a big thank you for doing what Lucasfilm should have done and have had no excuse not to have done with the financial resources they have at hand!!!.

Thank you Hotrod for being so generous and sending this to me! To pay it forward if anyone would like a copy in the UK then PM me and I will send one out to the first person to reply.

This is possibly the best version of a Star Wars edit so far, some of the issues that have been fixed I wasnt even aware of the first time round, some of the tweaks are inspired and removing the infantile nonsense put in for the DVD releases is frankly a relief...I can watch the film again without cringing every so often at the unecessary changes that were made to what was a good film...

One question for Darth Editous..... and is probably mine (and one hundred million other peoples) most significant gripe with the recent DVD version, when Greedo shoots first was there anyway of removing the poorly CGI'ed version of Han Solo, it does stick out like a sore thumb and is so poor its almost laughable????

Once again no complaints and thanks for a great release.
