Unusual <strong>Sequel Trilogy</strong> Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

The crawl to my edit attempts to set this stage somewhat:

Luke Skywalker has vanished.
In his absence, the sinister
FIRST ORDER has risen from
the ashes of the Empire and
will stop at nothing until
Skywalker, the last Jedi, has
been destroyed.

As the peaceful New
Republic struggles to fight
this resurgent menace,
General Leia Organa gathers
her allies and leads a brave
RESISTANCE. She is
desperate to find her brother
Luke and restore hope to the
galaxy.

Star Wars: The Last Skywalker Awakens - A sequel trilogy &quot;mega-edit&quot; (<em>RELEASED</em>)
Time

As per some requests from fans of the project, in addition to the regular “theatrical” format, The Last Skywalker Awakens is now also available as a six-part miniseries. Other than bespoke bumpers at the start and end of these six episodes, no other changes have been made to the edit whatsoever.

Part I - 52 minutes (including opening fanfare)
Part II - 45 minutes
Part III - 67 minutes
Part IV - 46 minutes
Part V - 60 minutes
Part VI - 63 minutes (including closing credits)

Here’s a video detailing where and how the episode transitions are executed:

Thank you both for your kind words!

I’m glad this does for you what I set out to do, rajdmc, which is essentially bridge the gap between the disparate elements of these films while enhancing the existing throughlines. Keen to see what you think of Part II, which is where the meat of the tricky editing work was done.

MTFBWY all 😃

Blade Runner 2049: The &quot;EYE-MAX&quot; Edition
Time

2049

Blade Runner 2049: EYE-MAX Edition

What is this edit?
This edit combines the 2.39:1 Bluray home release of Blade Runner 2049 with certain scenes from the 16:9 “open matte” version of the film, with the intention of giving home viewers a taste of the “IMAX experience”

Why make this?
While some of the panoramic exteriors and spectacular action scenes benefit hugely from the expanded aspect ratio, much of the rest of the film is better suited to widescreen format (Deakins and Villeneuve tend to agree on this).

Is this just the “open matte” version of the film?
No, only certain scenes are extended to 16:9, mainly the larger-scale action scenes, as well as some some brief exterior sequences.

Are any other edits made to the film?
No changes have been made to the runtime or edit of the film.

A full list of extended-frame scenes:

  • K approaches Sapper’s farm
  • K approaches the LAPD
  • K approaches Wallace headquarters
  • K and Joi journey into the San Diego junkyard
  • K approaches the Vegas hotel
  • The underground bring K back to LA
  • K pursues Luv and Deckard
