These scans look gorgeous indeed. Thank for you scanning and releasing these.
I have noticed many scenes (especially in RotK) that look very mushy and almost waxy. Has a blanket DNR pass been applied to these scans? Or perhaps this is how the 35mm masters also looked like. It’s possible that Jackson’s production team added DNR during post-production on certain scenes.
I agree! There is something strange with the image/encode for ROTK, maybe it’s DNR or simply compression issues but it definitely looks digitally compressed/processed. The grain detail in the other two movies is gorgeous.
