Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

I've just watched the first reel of the workprint. Amazing work!

I did notice some slight aliasing/flickering during the opening crawl and a couple of other shots but other than that it was fantastic. I'm surprised how much detail shows up now that the blacks are un-crushed. I also love the colour timing. Can't wait for the finished product!

Star Wars - Poorly Directed?
Time

Lucas had (and to some extend still has) great visual sense.

But he was never too good with actors. Even Ford said that he's 'impatient with the process of acting' and most times his only advice was 'faster and more intense'. You can really see that.

He had a great cast for the original and even there some scenes are a bit 'stiff'. Not to mention the PT...

Also ANH lacks of some kind of emotional depth (e.g. your home planet has been blown away? so what, you can still come up with dozen funny one-liners 5 minutes later) and sometimes feels a little rushed.

He can make great visuals and action but i agree that he isn't a very good director.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Finally watched ANH:R (i've had it for some time now, but always used to jump to different scenes) and it's near damn perfect!

only two things could be improved:

1)planet Alderaan exploding looks a bit like old CGI, not detailed enough (kind of low-res)

2)when Vader slashes Obi-Wan with his lighsabre, the movement becomes a bit too smooth and CGI for a second

Other than that it's far superior to anything Lucas ever came up with, and it's one of the best SEs (fan-made or official) out there (and i'm not talking only about SW). Especially the Battle for Yavin is flawless. Great work!

THE OT SOUNDTRACKS SALVAGE - SWESBROTJ -"remastered"(so far)+ LP's (Released)
Time

Beatho was kind enough to send me the set and it's great!

ANH sounds a lot better than the SE (and it was the best sounding SE). You can hear more details and everything is clear.

ESB at first didn't strike with that much differences from the SE. Then I compared both versions directly and how wrong was I! The SE sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom or something. You can feel a lot more space in the ABC remasters and again a lot more details.

And last but definitely not least ROTJ. A huge improvement over the disasterous SE. SE was so muffled that it made the score boring. But now it's the best sounding album of the three. Great great work!

Thanks so much ABC for presenting these scores the way they should be.
